  • lo máximo!! 90 nada como esos años....

  • When I listen to this song, I just don't want it to end. Pure magic.

  • this is what happens when we grungers get old!

  • I believe in the nirvana version Dave Grohl sang, played the guitar and the drums. and they recorded it whilst waiting 2 days for Kurt Cobain to show up!

  • @theleecarter true

  • dave killed the rock acoustic act with all those back up vocals and those violins and that table thing.

  • Its cool cause kurdt plays drums in the original

  • Beautiful.

  • this sounds too overproduced

  • @FireTheMarshall Then listen to his Pocketwatch version

  • hmm nirvana is better

  • @LOVEAapjes dave grohl sang this in nirvana to 0.o

  • @BlingMikzy so? Nirvana is'nt only Kurt Cobain

  • @LOVEAapjes no nirvana had other members like chad channing back in 1989 he was the original drummer then got replaced with dave grohl. there was also krist novoslic and kurtcobain

  • i like this, but the thing i like most about the original was the bass line, which is non existent in this and kinda annoys me. Great video though

  • Performed beautifully.

  • Most Amazing Foo Fighters Song Dave Has Made. No Doubt

  • dave wrote this under a pseudonym name when he released it then nirvana did it

  • I really like the sound of this acoustic!

  • Comment removed

  • Petra's solo is so fuckin kickass

  • This has a little of the nirvana unplugged feel to it.. i was at the show the night before this DVD.. i already liked the foo fighters and Dave Grohl a lot before this but this show made me fall in love with them.. Dave Grohl is no doubt the most talented musician of our time...

  • @Galderamos Godspeed You! Black Emperor live.

  • still like Nirvana's version best

  • @joaoa13portugal is the sem cuz dave wrote this song , its like a cover or a unpluged version (sorry for my bad english)

  • @joaoa13portugal its funny though the Nirvana version was basically just Dave and Krist and Kurt had no part but I agree it was better

  • @joaoa13portugal yeah, nirvana's version is so...dreeeaaaaammmmy

  • @joaoa13portugal dave grohl wrote the song, he can make it any way he wants.

  • Damn curt

  • omaigoh i want him to play this when he comes to nz :D

  • for once the two top comments are actually kick ass

  • esta cancion es muy romantica !" .... para mi

  • This is not a Nirvana song it is a Dave Grohl song released on Stopwatch by Late, Dave Grohl's project prior to Foo Fighters. Nirvana covered this song .It was first recorded in 1991 prior to the release of Nevermind. The Stopwatch album is an amazing realese just search it and decide for yourself.

  • @jjvince1 No its a nirvana song because the song was wrote when he joined nirvana cause on one of the videos he even comes out and says that he wrote Marigold and Friend of a friend while living with kurt cobain next to kurts turtles

  • @jjvince1 This IS a Nirvana song. It was the b-side to the heart-shaped box single.

  • @jjvince1 It's called Pocketwatch, not Stopwatch.. But other than that, you're right. Pocketwatch was released in 1991. The Nirvana version came out 3 years later.

  • i'lll always have mixed emotions on what grohl did post nirvana. just questions no one can answer but i don;t think he'd ever been a frontman without teen spirit & cobain's brains splat is all.

  • better use the word "all' humbly, david.

  • foo fighters>Nirvana

  • @jmd1984farts more like Nirvana is more than or equal to Foo fighters

  • @jmd1984farts just on this song

  • what a shambles

  • Its awesome their still keeping Nirvana alive(: U rock Dave!

  • <3 Nirvana <3 Foo Fighters

  • isn't this song on the Pocketwatch tape?

  • @studmunson Yes it is, but it was called "Colour Pictures of a Marigold".

  • Randy on south park looks like dave

  • Wish I could get this song out of my head - wait, no I don't.

  • Dave said there will be some surprises for the upcoming 20th anniversary re-release of Nevermind. I am very curious of what that may be.. :)

  • is this considered a cover

  • @ThePunkjeff no because Dave wrote the song

  • @ThePunkjeff I think so, it was orginally under Nirvana...

  • This is so beautiful.

  • i heard.they invite chris playing bass for this song.forgot which year.

  • @r0ksta82 Nirvana played together for the first time since the death of Kurt Cobain, at a last-minute Foo Fighters show at Paladino's in Tarzana, California. This concert was recorded for a documentary. While new material from the band's forthcoming album was aired, the biggest surprise was kept for the encore. Grohl made his way behind the drum kit, and he and Smear were joined onstage by Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic for a version of the 1993 Nirvana B-side "Marigold"

  • @froggy1112

Krist Novoselic also did the lead bass track for 'I should have known' on the new album, waisting light.

  • Beautiful arrangements.

  • i prefer the nirvana version, this one theres too much going on with different instruments. less is more in my opinion.

  • he made a cover of his own song haha

  • @PivotMakeranimations Im pretty sure its just a new way of performing his song. if i write a song and then show it to my band and we play it its not a cover.

  • @PivotMakeranimations he is dave grohl, he can do anything

  • VIBRAPHONE, BABY!!!!

  • the violinists vocal harmonies are perfect...

  • I believe Grohl wrote this before he joined Nirvana since it's on one of his early demos but the version on the "Heart Shaped Box" single was recorded during the "In Utero" sessions.

  • @Galderamos thats the foo fighters for you!

  • I don't know why, but i like the nirvana version more :) .

  • @G5Vlad indeed :)

  • @G5Vlad me to ;)

  • why should people dislike dis song

  • i almost cry..when hearin dave playing dis song.

  • i love dave <3

  • Looks like a kinda stiff concert, love the band and the music tho!

  • It is a Nirvana song - written by Dave Grohl

  • @student251192 The original was not a Nirvana song, it was released by Dave on his Pocketwatch album.

I therefore can't see it as a cover because it was originally written and recorded by Dave Grohl, as was the entire first Foo Fighters album, all that has changed is the band that plays it with him. Foo Fighters only exist as a band because Dave, as talented as he is, can't play every instrument at the same time on tour. The original members where really no more than Dave's backing musicians.

  • Dave Grohl Best musician alive today

  • @IMASTERHD He is a good drummer, and he has written at least one good song that i know of: this one. Even though this performance does seem really stilted ;-P

  • this song is so....mysterious sounding

  • Why does this guy(drummer) look like kurt? it depresses me

  • @yumi1851 Because he has blond hair and you're a dumbass.

  • Died and gone to heaven. Love their live acoustic sets. One of my favourites by them. Great Post.

  • in love with that violinist

  • Anyone else miss Krist's bass playing here? I mean, the Foo Fighter's bass player seems content simply playing a four note progression in this video... very boring and passion-less. At least on the Nirvana version there was some groove to the bassline. I'm not saying this is terrible, just a little disappointing since I grew up listening to the Nirvana version...

  • @kronoz78 agreed dude, but krist's groove wouldn't fit here. too many layers involved.. even the violin, i think it would spoil it

  • very nice violin solo..

  • I saw them back in '96.. I wish they had played this then..

  • hihihihi look at kurt on the drums :D

  • Yo I heard Krist,Dave and Pat smear reunited for one song "Marigold" in a concert this week.

  • @PhilySportsMan Yes they did, it was on December 22 2010. For the encore Grohl got in the drums, pat in the guitar and Krist on Bass i believe. I want to find a video about that..

  • @itocamion is there any audio?

  • @itocamion you find a video for that yet? I would like to see that as well

  • What a great song! Its so simple, you'd think anyone could write it.

  • KURT ON DRUMS-.....A GHOST..LOL I LOVE KURT----BUT ITS NOT KURT LOL

  • @Davidasperger86 haha same thing went through my mind but im pretty sure he was there looking down at dave

  • This song is so epic ,also the Number of likes on the "Highest rated coments" are they same what ever order you put them in.

  • I think this is the best version... I like this more than nirvana version

  • yeah dude. Kurt didnt play a singal note of this song on record in his life, Krist probably played bass, but Dave did everything on this song.

  • @jimibezwik Theres a very old video for this song. Kurt was actually on drums.

  • @jimibezwik From what I remember from the sleeve notes (!) it was all Grohl, just mixed.

  • @jimibezwik

    kurt sang back vocals.

  • No matters, Dave how many times play this song, Kurt made it perfect...

  • @Daffit82 kurt had nothing to do with this song mate.

  • @Daffit82 dave wrote it jack ass

  • @Daffit82 Oh dear.

  • in the begining it sounds like he is playing plush by stone temple pilots

  • i foo son grandi ma non imiteranno mai kurt Kurt RiP WHY SUICIDE RIP KURT YOU ARE IN OUR HEART

  • assisto todos os dias esse vídeo versão nota 10

  • Did Pat perform with them in this one? I can't tell if that's him or not at 1:12

  • na versão do dave ficou melhor

  • @kurtwin666 prefiro a versão Nirvana ...

  • he has to be thinking about the days in nirvana while playing this lol

  • MARUHGAWLD

  • This song gives me goosebumps, considering how well it's put together, the simplicity, and sheer epicness just ties together to make such a beautiful song :)

  • love the Nirvana version much more, dave was way younger so his voicec was different, but for him to play this is cool

  • amazing.

  • More of a Late! song really...

  • 300th person to THUMBS UP. 8 blind/high/idiot/slow/fat fingered people missed the button

  • Comment removed

  • 2:35 violenist is rockin out that solo

  • dave turned into a faggot after nirvana..

  • @MonkOfTheArts you turned into a faggot after you were born

  • @K1NGWUSAB1 lmao

  • @MonkOfTheArts so did your mom you test tube baby

  • Playing this song must be hard for Dave...It must bring so many Nirvana memories to him...Go on Dave! you're a great musician !

  • i wouldnt think so dave wrote this song

  • @ska95124 feel ths same mutual man...

  • its better when was in nirvana,,,,,,,, i didnt like this version!

  • Great song, only found out today that it was dave on vocals on the nirvana version, been listening to it for months, cant believe i never noticed

  • mas me gusta la version de nirvana :D

  • esa cancion es de nirvana :S

o es q tambien le kieren kitar esa cancion jajaj XD

  • when dave sang it for nirvana, it was a lot better.. :/

  • Civilized Worm

  • wow i just now realized how much this song sounds like in bloom!!!!

  • @starsweet4

Actually, it sounds very little like it! 0.o

  • @TheDolefish just the melody in the verse does.. dave slowed it down for marigold.. ;D

  • I think Dave should have given some backround on that song, That might have attracted more nirvana fans.

  • @giga0524 But the Nirvana fans in the crowd would've bought the with the lights out box set or would've been introduced to the song by then. I knew I had and was surprised to hear it.

  • @giga0524

Foo Fighters are a little diffrent to Nirvana. They might not like Nirvana's Grungyness xD

  • @TheDolefish how could they not like grunge every body likes grunge. but it does seem kind of like it.

  • Absolutely luv it!

  • someone get that girl a mic stand lol

  • Hello, we are FéniX.

    Check us out!!!

    We hope you like it!!!

If you like our sound add us!!!

  • you cant fight over witch version you like better , their both for inspirational tones in the lyrics of the song , dont fight , just wish kurt was still here

  • Yes the version he did with Nirvana was better.

  • I actually never thought the Foos would cover a Nirvana song. And even though it's completely written by Dave, this is totally a Nirvana song. That kinda makes me happy :)

  • this version makes me want to puke

  • yeah! me too - when they opened for Dylan - holy crap

and when I say Holy Crap, I mean HOLY CRAAAAP

  • I saw them do this live, with pat smear on back up acoustic....fucking wow. They should do a nirvana reunion

    Pat Smear : Guitar

    Dave : Drums/ Vocals

    Krist : Bass.

Id sell my soul for that shit.

  • I guess...I love both versions. In reality I dont like Foo Fighters very much. Nirvana is really my favorite band. MrStalyn, you are right, but there is a misunderstanding. Its just that I consider this to be a cover even though Dave did write this song since technically the original was a NIRVANA song and this is classified as a FOO FIGHTERS song. But no big difference bro!

  • Nirvana's is better. But my favourite is the one released on the Pocketwatch album. Marigold's all about simplicity and there is too much going on here in my opinion.

  • @student251192 I disagree, I don't consider it a cover.

It's like when Paul McCartney performs any Beatles songs that he wrote, I don't consider those covers (and I don't really know anyone that does), and this is just the same.

  • ehh i like em both but nirvana version is the one for me.

  • @tpdawgs733

yeah it had much more emtion to it

  • I liked the Nirvana version and this Foo Fighters Version gives it a new life... this is how a cover IS done.

  • This is NOT a cover. Grohl wrote this song. He played the guitar and the drums on the Nirvana version. Krist played the bass.

  • Great song. Dave Grohl is an inspiration and somebody that any musician can appreciate. I hope he rocks until the day he dies.

  • I love Nirvana more than anything. But this version of the song is the best I have heard anywhere. Dave Grohl is fucking rock. Every single sound in the background is amazing.

  • Yep dave played electric guitar and did vocals orginally while kurt did some back up singing and the drums KRIST BASS OF COURSE LOL.

  • nirvana's sounds better, 100%

  • i liked i know why dace don 't play nirvana's songs

  • Hermosa canción... sos un grosso Dave...

  • sellouts. nirvana rapes

  • Hmm.. I like the Nirvana version better, to be honest. But this one's nice too!

  • Ahum the Nirvana version is like exactly the same cuz Dave sings the song so..

    go drink some coffee

  • I know Dave sings the song in the Nirvana version. What I meant was the whole atmosphere of the song. This is a song that, I think, is meant to be played with 'simplicity'. Just like the Nirvana version.

  • Yeah!! like this version too.. but Nirvana's better.. simply beautiful! :))))

  • @SuperkatCoolmax NIRVANA version is in a different key

  • @FretFusion there isnt a difference besides it being live

  • @FretFusion The same person sings it. But I get what you mean, Nothing like Krist and Kurt on bass and guitar.
