I don't mean to be insulting, and I'm not sure if this has been pointed out earlier, but this recording is an imposter. It is of someone trying to recreate the original recording. It's apparent through the tone, the ornaments deviate from the original in a couple of places, and the piano is of a completely different timbre than that of the original. Maybe I'm just going crazy, but I have listened to the original so often that I know it like the back of my hand.
there's something wrong with the audio in this recording. if you compare that carefully to the stereo-track in the "official" sony cd - release or in the monsaingeon-film, you'll find certain differing details. e.g. the ornament in 2:23 (grace note right hand) and a lot of other micro-rhythmic and dynamic stuff, I would suspect, that this is NOT the original GG-recording.
but probably only an issue of audio-compressing/stretching, not quite sure
Not nessecarily, just because you compose something, you must not be the best artist- like no every poet is automatically gifted with a brilliant voice to sing / or read his lyrics.
@Canonfudder I think Jitpring is right. Seeing as he was a virtuoso organist in his time, Bach probably was the best player of Bach. He would also know the "correct" way of playing his pieces since he, of course, composed them.
Z każdą sekundą słuchania można zapadać się coraz głębiej w muzykę. Czy też poprzez muzykę w coś niepojętego. Niebywałe wykonanie.

the bach guy plays bach pretty well, despite being a complete "music asshole". it was so simple and yet elegantly performed.
this is probably one of the best versions of this piece, cos i don't hear his hummings and can concertrate on the music itself.

In 1982 version Gould doesn't play that grace note. Maybe you have his 1955 version?
kubekbeta5 7 months ago
@kubekbeta5 yeah in 1982 he didn´t play as well as 1955 because in 1982 he died this version is in 1981!

best ever! Glenn Gould was the best player of Bach - EVER! and i believe that was great

Actually, Bach was most likely the best player of Bach.
