Ridiculous. Only Starbucks would consider a Full City + roast "blonde". Most craft roasters don't go past FC+ but this is their "light roast". Char Away!
Blonde is a great idea to satisfy all the complaints about over-roasted coffee. The brand was built on this dark roast but I think the real problem is that it is 6-8 months out of the roaster i.e. stale! Blonde is also another way to make more money as during roasting less moisture is extracted and it takes less beans to make a pound. Always get the freshest coffee you can get 7 days max out of the roaster. Ask for the roast date it should be clearly marked on the bag if not go elsewhere.
Lol specialty coffee... Yea right. Took them long enough to realize that char roasts are crap. Get real coffee from a premium roaster. Not this crap...
@Hidepride There's a handful of good roasters such as intelligentsia and stumptown, counter coulture, there's actually a list of 50+ good roasters on the internet with actual proper coffee. Once you taste any of their stuff you will never ever consider starbucks. There is good coffee in America its just that premium roasters do not heavily market themselves like starbucks. IMO starbucks is almost like mcdonalds in terms of quality.
@TheRealButtcheddaa Actually, starbucks doesnt heavily market themselves. I've had many beans from online roasters whom ive never heard of before getting into the coffee business. Im not saying starbucks is the best in the world, im saying theyre one of if not the most educated in the country. Everyone claims starbucks just burns their coffee, but if you actually trace most other places, including dunkin, to their source, the roasting styles are very similar.
I just got to try the be "Veranda Blend" at our store meeting tonight, and it was really good! I am usually a loyal French roast drinker but this was really smooth like "Breakfast Blend" but didn't mirror it's high acidity! Two thumbs up SB!
"Nobody is doing what we do." And the "Blonde" is roasted to "second pop" which I assume means second crack. I have been roasting to second crack for espresso for eleven years. Come on, guys! After 40 years you have pride in finally figuring out how to properly roast coffee? Really?
Wondering if this is similar to the new "Breakfast Blend" VIA...which I find is rather bland and somewhat like my old instant coffee, "Tasters Choice"
I had some of their first offering at my Starbucks store meeting last night! It's not like anything I've ever seen at Starbucks. Very mellow and smooth. I'm very excited to have tasted it before it came out!
i love blondes!!!!!!!

Where's the truth in advertising? Roasting to Full City past second crack is going to give you a brunette roast.

@TheRealButtcheddaa Considering that americans drink the weakest coffee in the world, i think starbucks is doing just fine.

Started roasting in 1971..? WOW! It only took them 40 years to figure out how to NOT burn coffee? That's dedication!
