@ApertureAssistance You would actually be learning about MOVING assembly lines (Sorry, but my NHD project is on moving assembly lines and I felt like I had to)
When I saw this movie in historyclass I laughed my ass of at the eating-machine part, even though it's kinda sad for Charlie xD He looks so cute in that machine hahaha!
I'd bet my future child's eyeballs that if modern capitalists could get away with feeding their employees with that machine these days, they'd all do it.
The part where the food machine first started to malfunction when it was feeding Charlie the corn had me dying! What a genius this man was and still is! :D
@jeffhardy1543 In 1936 they could. People weren't mute back in the day, and they certainly were not all black and white. But silent films rely more on non-verbal speech through actions, and as seen here, comic actions.
@2oow3a I never laughed at a silent film before but I laughed at this one. I think more people need to be exposed to classical cinema like this to understand and appreciate where everything has evolved from.
@Romeowasbleeding1 You have to remember that these were made long before anyone ever thought of health and safety, as long as you came out the other end in tact then no one thought any more of it, come to think of it even if you came out the other end dead they would probably say "thats a shame" and carry on with their day.
I think I first saw this movie when I was 8 and I loved every minute of it. I almost died laughing at the feeding machine scene. It still is one of my all time favourite movies.
@fnorgen I totally agree. I remember seeing this movie for the first time when I was 5. Even now, 20 years later and being a filmmaker, I still cannot remember a time when I laughed so hard as I did at that scene.
