  • WHERE ARE THE SINGERS OF THIS YEAR, NO MATCH FOR THE SINGERS OF YESTER YEARS......WHAT GR8 MUSIC......LONG LIVE COUNTRY MUSIC

  • I like HAnk JR... espesially when he started doing (HIS) own show....

  • this was when country music was a real job...ppl who were good at it even if they didnt want to be....now we have a bunch of dumasses who want to be famous but couldnt sing if their very life depended on it

  • I love that he did this on TV since his record label wouldn't release it as a single because it wasn't country. Waylon cut it and released it and had a huge hit on it. Proves record folks don't know their ass from a hole in the ground half the time. Miss Toy Caldwell and Waylon too.

  • Love the song have more like it !!!!

  • I would be happy just to shine those white boots. Dude is awesome.

  • i love this song cos it speaks the truth!! hank jr was so thin, he just got from the hospital, lord hank jr went through alot, i know he is an country singer, but he is real, and he had to fight so many demons in his live, i love hankjr forever!!!!!

  • Hank has lived every song he has ever written.. From the heart...From the soul... Sing on brother..Sing on..

  • It don't get no better than this! Hank Jr Reborn!

  • Love it!!!

  • this man can sing!!!We love his music...he is our idol!!!

  • He is so GD effing good!

  • The best ever, period. 3 other people must have been watchin somethin else.

  • baddASS!!! Bocephus is like a mix of Jesus and Randy Savage!!!

  • Strikes deep...

  • He does this one better than Marshall Tucker and then was in 78 the announcer misspoke

  • This is not December 1978....this is December1976.

  • Nobody can sing a song with a tear in their voice like Hank! Rips my heart out every single time!

  • @GeorgeWooden yeah man that is so true. If u enjoy listening 2 Hank, you should give his son, Bocephus a listen. man he is almost as great as his daddy! BE PROUD AMERICANS AND STAY COUNTRY!

  • @patjennings200

No, but I'll bet he learned a lot from those friends, as he learned from the people he grew up around like, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fat's Domino and all the other musicians who visited his home. I've seen Hank Jr many times, and he can play pretty much any instrument, and has done so on stage.

  • Hank fell off the mountain in Aug of 1975. If this was Dec 1978, it had been over 3 years since his fall, not a year and a half, like the Ronnie Prophet said.

  • hank III will never even be on the same level as his daddy or his grandaddy bocephus rules but hank sr is god

  • @FordRdNcK1 Hank III is on differn't level Like hank jr was or is and old Hank sung his heart out.

  • damn good songs, biggest fan here. got almost every album he ever made.

  • Hell Yeah. This is my 2nd favorite Hank Jr. song.

  • I just love his voice. He's my favorite Hank!

  • :06 i thought he said mountain clamming. I was like what the hell is mountain clamming? haha

  • Hank 111 kicks ass. He is doin it his OWN way.

  • this is amazing. BOCEPHUS Im your biggest fan

  • If anyone doesn't like Hank Jr...well...you can kiss our ass!

  • @patjennings200 Luke Jr. is country with a little Southern Rock mixed in. He is absolutely not pop. If you think Bocephus is pop, then you don't know anything about either.

  • Hank has his own style, he's not his daddy, but he's a legend in country music on his own. Love this song & love his shirt too! The man upstairs let him live after his terrible accident in Montana; so as to entertain you & me, he sure has done it up right over the years too! Hank's got soul.....

  • damn, Hank can play that gtr!

  • the best I ever saw Hank he like his dad is a truly gifted musician and song writer

  • "You ain't as good as your daddy boy, and you never will be." This performance right here invalidates that statement entirely. Both Hanks are Legends!

  • Hank said he didn't want to be a legend. Sorry Hank, but you are a legend.

  • Very good version of "Cant You See"

  • look at that alabama flag on his guitar!!! roll tide!! i am blessed to be from bama

  • @lennymo36 T-TOWN agrees with you.ROLL TIDE ROLL .Going for #14 this year 2010 you know what I mean.

  • @lueylaw yes i do... rtr

  • I love hank jr. But his son 3 is by far way better.

  • @inthisriver362 no way!!!

  • @inthisriver362 Hank III is a joke. He sounds like a alley cat in a dentist chair w/no anesthesia. He is a big zero and a no talented trash mouth. He will never have a hit or never play anywhere but local bars, and the only reason he can do that is because of his name.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE I agree, I was completely shocked when I heard some of his music! What a foul mouth, punk; however he resemble his grandfather a lot (minus the tattoos and long hair) and sounds a bit like him as well, but for the most part his music is terrible and a disgrace!

  • @pard75 You gotta dig to find some of his better stuff. Alone and Dying and Stoned and Alone and others are slow sad stuff like Hank would've done.

  • This song validates Hank Jr. as his daddy's boy. Thanks, Bocephus.

  • The man that came down from the mountain wasn't the man that went up it. He was reborn and would electrify country music. This is he.

  • @patjennings200 Hank the 3rd is nothing like is grand dad you watch his videos he love the devil. his grand dad loved JESUS. when Hank the 3rd says hes a hellbilly he is spiting on his grand dads grave. HANK WILLiams sr and jr are the Kings of country and if you think any diffrent you are not a true country music fan.

  • @patjennings200 So if hank jr is pop, like you said previously what is taylor swift, rascal flatts and keith urban? Hardcore oldschool traditional country? If your defintion of pop is hank jr then theres no point even arguing with you anymore.

  • @andymccallum32 good point!!! hank jr is country!!!!! he's better than his dad, he can sing those blues songs... like heaven can't be found, blues man, i don't care if tomorrow never comes.. ect.. anybody that thinks that is pop has lost their mind!!

  • @lennymo36 pop is this new bullshit they call country!!! yaylor swift ain't country and she ain't young country, she needs to get out of country music and go to pop.. new country sux!!!!

  • @patjennings200 -Hank jr's godmother is June Carter Cash dude. Both her and John Cash were there when he woke up from his fall. One of his best friends was Waylon Jennings who produced a few of jr's albums and sang back up on a few of his songs. Not to mention ive seen kris kristoffeson interviews talking highly of jr. And not to long ago i read an interview haggard did talking about how him and jr were friends Why would those giants of COUNTRY music think so highly of a trust fund punk???

  • Knowing vaguely of their father-son relationship makes this perhaps the most touching song I have ever heard. I want to sing it on karaoke night.

  • This is so heartfelt and great, Bocephus. Love you tons.

  • @patjennings200 -please explain how this sounds like pop country???Or any of hank jr.s stuff. Lines like gay guitar pickers dont turn me on. Or hey man Is your horse outside, no mam he's between my legs but your to fat to ride. Sounds just like a taylor swift or rascall flatts song. Lay off the crack pipe.

  • This video is awesome! Thanks for posting!

  • August 1975 plus 1 yr and a half = early 1977; before he recorded "One Night Stands" and "New South". This single was recorded on the last ablum before the accident, which was the first ablum using Hank's own, original style. Before "Hank Jr. and Friends", Hank sang regular, orchestrated, Nashville-sound-type songs. This was the start of HIS stuff, but his old stuff was good too, because he could really sing in the old days.

  • Hank Jr. is about the most talented proformer i've ever seen.. who can beat what he's got to offer.. a legandary father who loved him and lost him too soon.. on the opery stage by 8 yrs old...elvis presley, jerry lee lewis. fats domino all had a hand in his schoolin' he can play anything sing anything.. he should be given alot more credit than he gets today he's still amazing

  • What's the name of the first song?

  • @hellegaard thr\e living proof

  • If he fell off the mountain only a year and a half before this then this is definitely not December 1978. That would make this performance around early to mid 1977 which by Hank's appearance looks about right.

  • i wish they would have recorded as much of these videos as possible so we could have them to look back at now

  • This is how country should sound these days instead of this rock altcountry crap they're trying to pass off as country!!....If you have two tv's side by side and you put them both on mute and have one tv with CMT on and the other with MTV on they look the same with out the sound!....Country today SUCKS!!!!!

  • I wish country music still sounded like this not the BULL SHIT theyre passin off as country these days

  • I am inclined to believe the date on the vid is wrong. Hank sings a song off of Hank Jr. and Friends which came out in 1975. He had two albums released since then by December 1978. The New South being one of them. I'd say this was around mid 1977. Just my opinion. Hank looks young here...younger than a December 1978 Hank.

  • good stuff

  • country music needs to sound like this again.todays country dosnt have heart. nuf said

  • LONG LIVE HANK Jr.

    last of the GREATS

  • ......a twenty-nine year old Bocephus! He's one of the best ever.

  • hank if there is anybody watching for you I hope they can see me. I love you. Ur Vocals speeks to me. I love what you are saying. I also love how you are saying it. I truly wish I could be a part of this kind of great country music. If it were possible I would love to rejuvenate it today.

  • LOVE HANK JR

  • I first saw Hank live back in 1981 and he opened the show with "Can't You See". Later in the show he sang a new song from an upcoming album..."A Country Boy Can Survive".

  • i can only imagine..... my father in-law has a story like that about a band he saw way back in the day named Alabama in '79. He said he had a feeling about them, and well....

  • I love Hank Jr.. I wonder why Holly WILLIAMS is having so much trouble getting into the top 40.

  • Hank Jr. has a great voice. And to top it off, he is one of the greatest country music performer

  • Its Marshal Tucker Band, but I love the first song the best

  • Hank's voice was fantastic here. 30+ years of the business has taken its toll on it. By far, his best years. This sounds like a Grand Funk Railroad or Allman Bros. song. Could be wrong.

  • mojodoodle: 30 years?? Try over 50 years in the business on for size. His voice is the same. He just plays to his base now and they just want to hear the same old thing. Listen to his Rose Avenue CD that came out very recently. He sounds pretty close to the Hank of old. I will admit his best years for his voice were 69-89 but he still can put all the others to shame when he wants to. He has got Monday NIght Football and legions of fans who want the same Whiskey Bent and Country Boy. Why try?

  • days of wine and roses. now comes the real thing .. great job hank jr

  • this was one of the first times he sang his own songs and everyone thought he would flop. they didnt think it long.

  • This song has changed my life. I know what hank ment when he said "You aint as good as your daddy and you never will be." That is some strong medicine.

  • i agree with Waylon, h

e said with all that Hank jr has done, he makes his Dad pale in comparison.

  • Yeah, best 8 minutes of Hank Jr - EVER.

  • This is by far one of the best Hank jr. clips i've ever seen. Thanks for sharing it.

  • This brings tears to my eyes. How far our country has fallen since that era.

  • my mom was at that show, i am the biggest fan of real country music and i get my mom to come check this video out on youtube to show her this greatness and little do i know.....she was there.

  • @oilsander1 How right you are

  • @oilsander1 Oh how you are so right! They don't live what they sing about anymore and they don't sing about what they're living!

  • Here we are in this 'ol world, just trying to be who we are. Sometimes it's hard to find ourselves, but with the help of the Lord and some focused decision makin' of our one, we just might make it, after all! God Bless You, Hank and may God Bless us all~Gypsy CajunLady~

  • I love you HanK, keep them coming!

  • This is about the best I've ever seen Hank Jr. This is amazing, just the soul to the song. When he says, "I just don't like the pain"..it's touching.

  • @BurningMartyrCarcass he is a staR

  • james, just because you prefer jr doesnt make all those things true....sr died at 29 in an age before mass media, singing a genre that was pretty much limited to the deep south

  • been listening to hank for about just over a year.............every thing i find of him makes me more and more of a fan....first time i heard both of them tracks...... fucking brilliant

  • Hey, when your as good as hank jr there are no doors. Hank Jr would of surfaced at some point even if he wasnt hank sr boy. On top of that his daddy cant compete with bo. hes a better musician, writer, and singer. Chew on that.

  • i agree

  • His name opened the door then he kicked it in with his sheer talent

  • Bocephus when he was coming out of the mold of Sr and defining himeself and his music. And the rest my freinds, is history. Legend..

  • this is the best ive ever seen from hank jr. This is when he started to change everything in country music away from the rinestone cowboy scene and he is the most influential on my playing (just wish i was that good)

  • Hi Friend,Hank Jr. is a great entertainer.

Thanks friend for adding this video.Eddie

  • Love the Alabama State Flag Guitar! Very cool! Can't Ya See!

  • Don't talk crap bout Bocephus. The best ever period. I've seen over 30 sumthing concerts and the man can play. If you got a problem with the past take it up with ur self cause ur way outta touch. the best ever.

  • I love Hank..He is one of the BEST EVER..but when You got Wayne "Animal " Turner playing guitar why do you wanna play ALL YOUR OWN LEADS?..Hank ain't that good..When he's SOBER HE IS THE BEST...When He's drunk..well he is AWFUL..He is better these days..in the early 80's you never KNEW what you were getting into ...Shorter Lavender in Nashville used to handle his PR work..Shit, man I did an internship up on Music Row in the early 80's ...I know all kinds of shit Hank would pull when DRUNK..

  • Just listen to this.."IT DOESN"T GET ANY BETTER"..He has the MOST INCREDIBLE RANGE of anybody you will hear...But in the EARLY 80's...He would be TRASHED...Saw him in Memphis in 1979.. It was his 30 birthday..and the first thing he said was before he kicked off FAMILY TRADITION was.." I TOLD THOSE DOCTORS I WASN"T GONNA KICK OUT BEFORE 30 LIKE DADDY!"..When he is doing HERE is as good as it gets..When he is SO DRUNK he is changing lyrics to his songs. and cussing the crowd..that is too much...

  • While I've heard those stories too (fortunately never saw it in person), I do take issue with your comment about Hank changing lyrics. You gotta remember, the man has been doing some of those songs for 30 years. Personally, I can see where he'd wanna shift things around sometimes...and I've seen him stone sober, and he'll mess around with the lyrics to both his own and cover tunes.

  • Go to the Hank Jr show on here..Hank Jr Rare 1983 All My Rowdy friends have settled down..and tell me what you think..

  • When HANK WANTS TO...He is the best ever..But when he used to get smashed on that half of gallon of Jim Beam that promoters would have to have waiting on him when he got off the bus..Well then he was a different animal...Saw him SO DRUNK one night in Jackson Tn. that people started getting up and walking out and he got on the mic and said" THIS AIN"T IRAN IF YOU DON"T LIKE IT YOU CAN GET THE HELL OUT"..Hank has straightened up but man you never knew what kind of show you were gonna get..

  • Yeah, I thought you were just bad mouthing him steve. The time I saw him in Minneapolis, MN he was smashed too, but then again so was I.

  • Was this like his first performance after falling off the mountain? Like his comeback? If not does anyone have his comeback?

  • Hank is the man!

  • Livin Proof is what he is. Rock on Hank.

  • Hank had plenty of "LET YOU DOWN" moments in the 80's..He was so DRUNK AT TENNESSEE TECH he wouldn't get off the stage for Charlie Daniels who was head lining the show..THEY HAD TO PULL THE PLUG and turn on the house lights..That led to a long time of Hank and Charlie not speaking..

  • Well. COWBOY Eddie long was living down around Covington, Tn about 10 years ago..I jammed with him MANY times...Billy Marshall plays in band in Memphis..Hank quite touring during hunting season and THE BAMA BAND still went out on the road..But Hank made them go by the name COPPERHEAD..Everyone minus Eddie...When Hank does like he he here..But when he is DRUNK OFF HIS ASS IN CONCERT He is out of tune and can't play shit..If you think he is SMOKING GUITAR PLAYER. Well I would hate to hear you play

  • Yeah terrible performer thats probably the reason he won entertainer of the year five god damn times!

  • They aren't saying he's not a great entertainer, he was and is, but at times he was so drunk he didn't konw what song he was singing. Sometimes, he was sober and he'dput on the best show you'd ever see, other times he was drunk on his ass like they said. He did deserve EoY, he's as good as it gets. But he did like the bottle.

  • His son wow now that boy is walking country.

  • never realized how hank sounds similiar to sixities rockers like CSNY/grateful dead/steppinwolf...really as much of a rock star as a country star

  • BIG HANK Sr, Jr and III Fan !!!

  • that les paul kicks ass!!!

  • Sounds so good it gives me Goosebumps!!! Hank Rules!!

  • In 1982,there was no bigger fan of Bocephus(Hank Jr.)than yours truly, all the way through 199-something,but when I liked the boy was when he was still humble, and proud people would listen to him,and acted like one of us,like he is on this show(and that is the best version of Can't You See I have ever heard,by the way),but he let me down at Central high school just outside of Florence Al(1983 maybe)played one song and left and he was a "diva"on top of that!My momma paid good money for me to s..

  • Any man can "let you down" ... Try not to judge a person at their worst...

  • Wow... Long time Hank JR. fan, but have never heard this song. The ties just got a lot deeper for me to the Williams family.

  • Hank JR. is something else.A lesser man would have died on that mountain.

  • Is anyone out there a member of the Hank Willams Jr. fan club. I would like to hear from you.

  • This is a great clip. But sad.

  • WHY DO YOU SAY IT IS SAD?

  • Does he say "gonna ride me a mountain"

  • Comment removed

  • I know what the lyrics are no doubt, but it sounds like he messes up !

  • This is my favorite Hank Williams Jr video I have found on the internet. But there are some other gold nuggets out there, too...Texas Women, If You Don't Like Hank Williams, and the young Hank Jr stuff.

  • I love this video too.I JOINED his fan club.

  • GREAT VIDEO!!!!

    5 stars from me.....

  • Name of this song? Someone message it to me!

  • "Living Proof" is the fist one, and "Can't You See", which is a cover of the Marshall Tucker Band, is the second one.

  • his guitar playing owes alot to Toy Caldwell and Dickey Betts !

  • With over 20 concerts under my belt, I've seen enough Hank Jr to NEVER under estimate his musical ability. You are foolish to believe otherwise. He can "pick it" with the best of them my friend. Ah Hell Yes...

  • Sing...PICK..No..Hank is ROUGH AS HELL...Talk to Animal Turner, Cowboy Eddie Long and Bill Marshall and get them to tell you about "Hank's guitar playing"...LOL.. Can sing his ass off when he wants...But he needs to leave the LEAD PLAYING to someone else...BTW 25 years ago I was sitting in the wings on many Hank Jr. concerts..plus picking at his club when it was in Paris, Tennessee...

  • I think you smoke a lot of fuuny stuff too.

  • Animal who? Silly ass imposter. These three no names are nothing more than a pimple on Hank's ass. Hail to the chief!

  • @Quacephus I know this post is over a year old, but Those three guys are hardly no names. They were all in hank's touring band called the Bama Band. Eddie was on steel guitar, Animal on guitar, and Bill was on drums.

  • I ain't arguing that Bocephus is another Stevie Ray Vaughn here, but, well, I've listened to the man play solo guitar...he's better than most of us wannabe country stars out here, that's for sure.

  • Hank Jr. can pick the HELL out of a guitar if he wants to. But he's out there to do more than just play. He's the total package, one of the best ever - and not cause of his daddy's name, either. It's just cause he's great in himself.

  • Have you ever met Hank JR.

  • i dunno where u get that info at, if u watch hank jr and listen or go to one of his concerts, he plays a lot of different instruments and plays them all good. i've heard/seen him "pick" on the guitar and he's pretty damn good.

  • wayne, eddie or tommy gun marshall woul never make that statement ive seen hank 60 times and i will say your full of shit

  • Killer video.Wished his guitar was turned up more. What a killer solo!

  • hank is the best ever i do agree killer video

  • good footage good songs

Jr has a lot of good tunes and I respect that he forged his own career and style but still loves and respects his dad's talent and legacy. god bless those Williams boys Hank Sr, Jr, and 3

  • Best video of Hank,jr on all of YouTube!!!! I wish Bocephus would play more of his older tunes (1975-1977). Country singers of today take note.....this is how its done!!!!

  • outstanding video thank you so much for posting this. Feel free to stop by and see some of the classics I have covered!

  • Their both awsome! I could set and drink beer and take turns listening to both of them. And I have, many many many times. and merle, waylon, johnny, george, etc..........................

  • I like all 3.

  • Bocephus is so sexy.He can leave his boots under my bed any time he wants to.

  • the truth is even people who dont listen to country music have heard of hank sr but just cus the mans name is thrown around more doesent make him better

bocephus created his own style because he could have sang hank sr songs untill the day he died but he wanted to make his own impact there very different style but there both just as good

the srguement your having here is like trying to compare waylon jennings with jhonny cash itll never end and it cant be settled

  • Hank jr and Hank Sr are equals. Very different styles, but equals.

  • You missed the memo; Bocephus doesn't try to be his daddy, who, although a great singer/songwriter, couldn't hold Hank Jr.'s guitar strap.

  • Sr. was a better songwriter. Jr. is a better musician.

  • I kinda wonder about that. I know it's all personal opinion, but I think Bocephus tunes like "The Last Love Song," "O.D.'d In Denver, "I Just Ain't Been Able," etc. outstrip most of Sr.'s songs by a mile.

    Like I said, personal opinion.

  • Oh JR is GREAT. don't get me wrong. I just can't get past the fact that SR didn't even make it to 30 yrs old and all those amazing songs.

  • i agree, and in my opinion jrs the more talented singer. just what i think

  • goose bumps.

  • That movie didn't TELL the whole story on what happened up AJAX mountain...He fell going across a snow field...Got airborne and hit a boulder face first...His nose and teeth were left on the mountainside...Both jaws and every bone in his head had been broken..His Brain had been exposed when the top of his scalp was ripped off..The guide with him PUSHED HIS SCALP back on top of his brain..It was an accident that was said would be fatal 99 times out of 100..but "BOCEPHUS survived..

  • yeah and walt told him it was just his nose to make him think it wasnt that bad, and then he reached up and touched his face and his jaw fell out and then he touched his brain, pretty amazing anyone could survive that, let alone still be singing and entertaining people. his is living proof that a country boy can survive

  • daammnn, hahahahahahaha

  • Murder In Music Row is the same song with different lyrics.

  • ain't that ironic..........ha ha ha!

  • jimi hendrix

  • I'd also like to say that Hank is very lucky to be with us today. If you haven't seen "Living proof, the Hank Williams, Jr. story", please watch it. The story line is exceptional and Richard Thomas(John Boy from "The Waltons") in my opinion gave an oscar performance portraying Bocephus. I've got the movie on vhs, but I need to find it dvd!

  • It's never came out on DVD to my knowledge. I have it on VHS.
