  • NEVERMORE

  • Nice! is the year of Poe! The Raven and iPoe Collection for iOS!

  • more like sven meets saw to me

  • I like the idea,Edgar Allan Poe is one of my favorites and some of the stories are the creepiest things ever concocted by a man, however I'm not that fond of the Guy Ritchie-esque feel to it,not that I mind guy Ritchie,it's just that I would like this movie to be a brand new thing

  • The V!

  • Zodiac Killer, anyone?

  • @AsokIntern I'm telling you now, this movie will not be as good as Zodiac.

  • @FetaCheese222 as much as I'd hate to agree, because Edgar Allan Poe is my all time favorite and I wish nothing but to have this movie be amazing, I concur. Zodiac was by far one of my best movies I have seen.

  • Aw, what the hell is this.. Not trying to hate, but seriously? Edgar Allen Poe was crazy out of his fucking mind. Why would he give a shit if somebody was using his poetry for murder?

NOT trying to hate.. just stating an opinion. It does look like a cool movie and story, but just not realistic at all.

  • @MsTiberiius I agree, just judging from the trailer, this Poe looks too much Sherlock and not enough of a lunatic,I would love to be proven wrong though

  • hell yes

  • also the Black Cat

  • If these are all about Edgar than I will assume that I like to see a murder about the Tell Tale Heart

  • Comment removed

  • POETRY IS BADASS AS HELL

  • MJ likes it !!!...

  • I swear to God, this looks like America's version to Sherlock Holmes. It's looks amazing, but it just comes off as that. I hope it's as good as Holmes was

  • damn, fucked it up with John Cusack

    -Devil to the Metal

  • also, they need to make the Tell Tale Heart

  • Thank you Mr.Poe

  • cusack as poe? mmm...No.

  • OM MY GOD The premature Burial Oh No And I CANT WAIT to see this.

  • Who's the girl? I have a feeling that it isn't Virginia.

  • @giimasama I think I heard them whisper Annabel Lee around 1:44

  • @Enoriath That was Poe's wife's name.

  • @ProfErigawn Virginia actually, Annabel Lee was a poem Poe wrote.

  • @giimasama i think its lenore

  • 1:21 : I really hope that's Hop-Frog.

  • When does it come out and what is it rated?

  • This is like totally awesome!! I wanna see it sooooooo badly... I can't wait ugh but it looks like they just gave it away in the damn trailer lol people I sometimes don't get -3

  • 19th century version of SAW, it even has some of the similar "traps" that jigsaw used

  • Can't wait until this comes out

  • Anybody else find it weird that the killer looks like V from "V for Vendetta?" I know it's from the same director.

  • they totally stole the pendulum idea from saw

  • @BillyCrombie Not sure if trolling or 12 years old, but the pendulum idea is from Edgar Allan Poe's "The Pit and the Pendulum", which was published in 1842.

  • I want this movie now!!!

  • Looks like a cross between the new Sherlock Holmes, the first Saw, and Edgar Allen Poe. Awesome.

  • @MrThePandaman My thoughts exactly.

  • I love how everyone who commented on this time traveled into the past and got to know EAP on a personal level.

  • 1:22 Saw 5

    1:47 Kill Bill 2

    -__-

  • @omg0what0happened Actually...

1:22 - "The Pit and the Pendulum", 1842.

    1:47 - "Bernice", 1835.

  • @Hawkstar270 Lol yes, I know Edgar Allan Poe came up with the concept first, I meant film-wise we've already seen it done :P

  • that first second made me touch the ceiling.

  • Who's to say it's NOT him? The scenes where he's 'chasing' the 'bad guy' might be hallucinations... he was a frequent admirer of the green fairy, no? Imagination. It helps. ;)

  • soo SAW like

  • @TheMR92MiKe err...no, Edgar Allen Poe came a long time before Saw... in fact, Saw was probably massively inspired by his fiction

  • aiye not sure about this...

I mean, the real EAP was a strange, depressed, neurotic man who you would actually be the SUSPECT throughout the entire movie, not the hero who is willing to get into all the action.

But its directed by the Vendetta guys so it might be a good movie in general.

    i don't know

  • NEVERMORE

  • i think its made for people who dont really know EAP. still looks boss, just not sure bout the making of EAP a hero

  • I was excited when I heard they were making this but this trailer looks horrible. John Cusack clearly doesn't give a shit about the movie and he's just phoning in a totally boring, stiff performance. Sherlock Holmes had wonderful period atmosphere and perfect casting; this only has one of those, and it's not enough

  • HAHAHHAA SERIOUSLY!?!

  • This looks AWESOME!!!!!!

  • quoth the raven

  • When did Edgar Allen Poe become an action hero?

  • @captainawesome830 the same time sherlock, shakespeare, and the three musketeers did.

  • @RandumbDudePS3 Good point. Well the Three Muskateers do sword fights and stuff tho.

  • @captainawesome830 yeah but it seems like in the new movie they are steampunk ninja assassins. But, i havent seen it so i may be wrong.

  • @RandumbDudePS3 Yeah I haven't seen it either and I don't plan on it. This movie seems kind of silly cuz Edgar Allen Poe was kind of a strange man not some cool action hero.

  • nevermore

  • Not sure, but I think I saw five stories in this trailer. The Murders in the Rue Morgue, The Pit and the Pendulum, The Masque of the Red Death, The Premature Burial and The Black Cat. Did I miss any?

  • @katieesailormoon The Tell-Tale Heart maybe?

  • From March 9th in cinemas! Over five hundreed people from Belgrade/Serbia took a part in this movie 8-) Oh, look that footman near Alice Eve in 0:09 , I know that guy hehe.

  • When does this hit theaters?

  • Looks great.

  • thier blacking out wikipedia and some other sites, because of SOPA and that PROTECT IP law shit

  • @MebeVeejay no, those sites shut down for a day in PROTEST to those bills. do your research before speaking please.

  • The concept is interesting, but why did they have to go out and get an incredibly known actor? Better yet.. Why did they have to get John Cusak? Gay.

  • 1:38 Batman dialogue, with SOPA that couldnt be possible, would it?

  • Is it just pure, innocent coincidence that the 'V' in Raven is emphasized, and it turns out it's directed by the same guy who did V for Vendetta?

  • Why are they blacking out Wikipedia??? I was searching the meaning of Raven and when I opened Wikipedia they said they're blacking it out for 24 hours 8S

  • Saw meets Vincent Price?

  • Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!'

    Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'<3

  • I wouldn't be suprised if it turns out, the killer is in fact his alter ego William Wilson. (oh, you haven't read it yet? well, you should!)

  • But, EAP never chased murderers? He was a poet.

  • cusack has always been the shit!

  • Make a new book, killer kills himself in the end, end of movie.

  • @Russellonfire nevAr put with the wrong end in front.Get it? rAven

  • The author's lover is the murderer.

  • What's with the apple watermark?!?! I have started to see it almost in every trailer I see... OMG has it happened... has apple TAKEN OVER THE WORLD?!?!... or is it iWorld now?

  • @129alis oh stfu

  • Sheeesj. The beginning scared the living daylight out of me.

  • So. V didn't die. I knew it.

  • jigsaw's great grandfather.....

  • Comment removed

  • saw 8!

  • quote the raven.

  • I would give my life for no woman.

  • Ovo ce biti dobar film, predosecaaaam 8-) This gonna be the great movie! March 9th in Baltimor, 16.mart u Srbiji premijera :@)

  • Thanks for the trailer for telling me the entire film those jack-asses!

  • @AEF091 That's what I thought! Watching it going ... 'it's him.' :) hope it tricks us!

  • WOW .

  • The detective did it. There now I don't have to watch it.

  • rider without head?:)

  • When will it be released?

  • Oh. My God. MUST SEE.

  • so edgar allen poe is an action movie character? sweet

  • i love how the empasised the V in the raven title... just sayin...

  • Am I the only guy who saw John Cusack playing in this movie, or was that just me? XD

  • EDGAR ALLAN POE + ZEUS = CCCOMBO BREAKER

  • HI ZEUS. WHY ARE YOU THERE? NOT IN THE IMMORTALS?

  • What, no "NEVERMORE" reference?

  • Am I the only one who thought of Roger Corman when I first heard the title? Anyone?

  • Straight to video release!!!!!!!!!

  • if i hadnt seen already this trailer i would say to everybody there will be soon a new hero in marvel !

  • mixture of sherlock holmes and saw then?

  • @thecommenter585 I always wondered if that scene with the pendulum in Saw was inspired by the story by Edgar Allan Poe!

  • @katieesailormoon i wonder many things but that ends up with me but with the knowledge of the thing i was wondering about. thank you wikipedia.

  • You know, I could barely go for Sherlock Holmes as an action hero, but Edgar Allen Poe? For fucks sake, why???

  • i love this kind of trailer, it tell the whole story what happen and how it will end. I already saw all the movie

  • This like the 5th raven movie but the plot is different so it's ok

  • this is just trying to copy the success of Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes with an American literary legend, chucking in some gore from saw. Clever idea but been done.

  • Holy fudgemuffins I can't wait to see this :D

  • I hear this movie knocking at my chamber door...going to see it!

  • @reledger

    but....The raven whispers "Nevermore"

  • so... why is a raven like a writing desk?

  • @acynicalgentleman Because it tilts with a flap.

  • @ItachisOkami That's the most clever response I've heard to that riddle. Well done, you win the internet.

  • @acynicalgentleman Because neither one can whistle.

  • @acynicalgentleman Edgar wrote on both...

  • @acynicalgentleman Because it's "nevar" backwards

  • @acynicalgentleman

    Because there's a "b" in both and a "n" in neither

  • @acynicalgentleman Nothing? and because they both share no likelihood to each other, they are able to be grouped by that fact?

  • @acynicalgentleman I haven't the slightest idea :)

  • @DragonPirateXIII Pft. Poe wrote on both, both have quills, and both produce notes of a kind, though neither are noted for the notes they produce. ^_^

  • @acynicalgentleman Originally Lewis Carol never intended for there to be an answer, but he later came up with: Because they can both produce a few notes, thoough VERY flat, and it is never put with the wrong end in front.

  • @acynicalgentleman They produce notes...both flat.

  • @acynicalgentleman They can both carry a /note/.

  • @acynicalgentleman Poe writes on them.

  • @acynicalgentleman I haven't the slightest idea. ;)

  • The guy speaking to Edgar is most likely the killer! It ALWAYS goes that way! Nothing new!

  • Who asked? March 9th .. Greetings from Serbia 8-) P.S. Cusack drinks mineral water from Fiji, I saw it on shooting hehe

  • how soon????

  • top comment fail... *bottom right*

  • This looks interesting. I might have to go see this one.

  • yup! i already figured out who the killer is lol

  • This is going to be amazing. Search Youtube for The Raven Unofficial soundtrack. A few min of the song The Raven is out. Can't wait for the cd and the movie!

  • WHEN WILL THIS BE IN THEATERS?!?!?! WHEN?!?!?!

  • Well, if nothing else, the premise is really cool.

  • soo is this suppose to be compatetion for Sherlock?

  • @MrFigmentofi I look at the monitor as a mirror so my right is the monitor's left but I may be wrong. Thank for the help though ;]

  • lovecraft is the murderer lol

  • its like a cooler saw movie

  • Ohhhh! An Apple watermark at the bottom left portion.

  • @alwinwinjoe Ok quick lesson in determining left from right. Point your index finger up. Both of them. Now point your thumbs inwards towards each other. The hand that makes the "L" that is your left. The other is your right. Now your know your left from your right.

  • @alwinwinjoe Objection! It's at the right bottom!

  • @alwinwinjoe Mine's in the right. But maybe we're watching this in parallel universe'

  • @alwinwinjoe That would be the bottom RIGHT portion, kiddo.

  • @qriffiN I already gave an explanation. Please find it if you are interested.

  • @alwinwinjoe You mean, bottom right portion, right ?

  • @alwinwinjoe right portion, retard lol.

  • @K4inan I gave an explanation. Find it if you want. There's no reason to be rude.

  • @alwinwinjoe bottom right, but you had a 50/50 chance of being right.

  • @toddcasse Spot on! That's what happens when studying Anatomy and my directions get jumbled up. :]

  • meh

  • Interesting....

  • Oh, let's try and milk some more money out of gothic bosom.

Alas, if the creators were so determined to make it even though it is a pure insult to anyone with an intellectual level above a microbe...well, if they were so determined, I wonder who was the casting sadist to chose John Cusack as Poe? Sad choice. I have nothing against John Cusack in general, but this is way out of his league.

Still worse: so many possibilities in Poe's work and they chose to go with 100% commercialism garbage.

  • So basically it's Edgar Allen Poe as a pre-Batman, Batman.

  • is this a remake of the raven staring Vincent Price Peter Lorre and Boris Karloff if i remember right it is but there was another simaler movie The black cat with the raven that i might be thinking of

  • @rkofan300 now thats a cast for movie i would watch !

  • I love how this has less dislikes than the Hobbit. lol.

  • @offmyrockervideos 62 out of 1292 is a little scale compare to The Hobbit

  • @niebells

sshh...don't steal my joy! lol. i know... i just like edgar allen poe more than the hobbit.

  • the killer is a bad ass by the look of it

  • Do they want us to think the detective killed all those people? I'm guessing there's gonna be an M. Night Shalamalamb twist...

  • I might see this if they make Poe just a little bit more darker

  • haha John Cusack is always a writer!

  • oooh scaaaaweeeeeeee!!!

  • SAW V TRAP LOL :D

  • @wouate actually, the saw V trap was based off of Poe's

"The Pit and the Pendulum" in which a guy is strapped to a table with a swinging pendulum blade slowly getting closer.
