You should try a softer target board. Hard wood will only wear out the edge. For a practical use, you wouldn't be hitting anything harder than a human right?

That's a good point, although i use trees when i throw.

1. Having a harder target to sink it into improves your speed. (If you got used to throwing into a soft target, then if/when you needed to use it on a human, you might not throw it hard enough, while being used to a harder target means you would throw it hard all the time.)

2. Yes, hard would probably would wear out the edge. :( However, you can sharpen it after you've been using it for a while. I just prefer trees. :)

Shit shurikens srry. Btw you people who don't know where to buy shurikens try internet website they have many weapons including throwing knives, blades and of course, shurikens. Pls just dont throw them at your neighbours dog or at any squirrils.. Ok throw them at squirills because they are evil!!

They are 3.3", dude, any throwing star will stick in. In fact, any throwing weapon in general will stick if you know how to use it.

I have a video on how to make cheap bo-shuriken, I will post a video in the future on how to make a nicer shuriken. I don't really make or use hira-shuriken anymore though, sorry.

oh well what i usually use are hira cause i like them for some stange reason but right now i'm expirementing with bo, i've been throwing big nails at my throwing bored and they've stuck pretty well on some occasion but there just to heavy and inaccuret i'd love to try needle shuriken if i could only find how to make them or were to buy them

I'm no good at this, but i know what it's like (being a fencer) sparring my friends that get their moves from anime such as naruto. To anyone who read this and likes anime. You CANNOT move at the speed of light. You CANNOT cut someone in half and have them not realize it until 7 seconds later. spar. Actual practice will get you places (self taught or trained by a teacher).

that's not what i meant! there's a variety of ways to throw them for example pinch griping one of the point and either over hand throwing like darts or sideways throwing like a frisbee. i've never heard of trigger gripping them so i was wondering if that's the "true" way to throw one?

Awesome... I think I throw mine differently. Then again I use a style shuriken than most people (Hero.. if you've heard of it). I hold mine sort of like a little kid would hold a finger gun. My pinky doesnt do anything, My middle and ring fingers wrap around the bottom "spoak", my index runs along the foremost point and my thumb curls around to sandwitch the farthest point to my hand. Very odd I know but I like it. Great vid!

I don't know what they're called, but just straight point four-point star shuriken are my favorite. For any thrower though I prefer bo-shuriken or wakizashi.

Just different styles, techniques, ect. Everybody's different, so their shuriken should be too.

Also some people like the feel of some shuriken. It is harder to get a grip on a 8 pointed star than a 4 becuase you cant slide your hand as far down... just preferance mostly.

Work on your release point. That's usually the problem with stars. They're easy to throw and stick, hard to get the release point right so that you can be accurate. Find what works for you.
