Thanks for the comment :) If you just started.. find characters that you adore! And start by tracing them so that you can get familiar with the shapes of the face and body. Once you have done that a few times... just practice drawing the character until you perfect it. Then try to learn how to color the character. practice practice practice. Watch other artists and learn from them :) My website is coming this month with detailed drawing tutorials :)
It is amazing to me that you can get such quality our of SBP. I am very interested in your future website. Will it be done soon? Keep up the good work!
Thats a question that ive been recieving practically everyday in my inbox lol
I was trying to get it finished by christmas! Im happy to say that the "how to draw Cherry" course is finished! And im in the process of finishing the web-design! So i believe that it will be ready this month! I have also closed some good deals with other amazing artists who will be creating tutorials for the site too! Im sorry guys for the delay... Ive been working on a new animated series. Happy new year ;)
My advice is to only use books as a reference to the drawing you want to do. Learning from books in my opinion is not as effective as a video tutorial or a personal teacher. In my days, i never had the option of video and the internet! soooo.. i relied on books which didn't get me far. I believe buying dvd's and joining short courses is VERY effective! and once you build your skill.. get some work experience for free! that's what i did when i was a teenager. i hope this helps :)
Oh lol sorry, thought it was in sbp :b would be really helpful since im practiacally blind. Thanks a lot for the response though, and i'll keep stalking your work ;) Are you on deviantart?
Cherry's a cute character and it's very fascinating to watch how you draw!
though, I'm wondering how you get you cursor to be so visible (like a pen)? because mine is practically invisible, and I've looked all around the program for the correct setting, but I can't find anything. would be really cool if you could tell me :)
The "PEN" cursor is not in Sketchbook Pro! it's from the desktop recorder software CAMTASIA that i use to record these videos. In Camtasia there is an option for changing the cursor when you are recording and you can find it in the "Effects" tab.
Im using a PC at the moment, but im gonna get an apple mac. the video capture software is called Camtasia. i've tried so many others and this one is my favourite by far.
i honestly blame it on the tablet..because i draw on the tablet but look up at the computer screen...takes some time to get used to it i guess..thanks again..
thank you =) its just on paper my lines are so much better than on my pen tablet..its so weird lol..can't wait to see your next piece..until then ill practice, practice ..,.., =)
I love cherry =) you are very talented. I recently purchased a wacom pen tablet..i also work with sketchbook pro and photoshop..i have 2 questions =) How do you get your lines so smooth and solid..is it because you work with a cintiq? Also i find it very hard at time to come up with an idea for my drawing..how do you get your inspiration? Cherry reminds me a little of the style of Dean Y. Mandy..I love watching your artwork...Can't wait for tutorials =) Happy holidays.
@bubbleme85 Thanks for comparing me with Dean Yeagle!! that's an honor!
A Cintiq is a lot easy to draw with for sure! but i remember i use to have a bamboo tablet and it was very hard at first! But it does take a lot of practice to get comfortable. Don't give up. For inspiration.... i read a lot of magazines for fashion and i always get an inspiration from there because they know how to pose and set a scene! once i have an idea... I've created a book of poses that helps me choose my pose :)
O my gawd, ur art work is amazing, ive only just begun drawin do u think u could give me some tips? Plzzzzzzzzzz

Thanks for the reply. Is there a place or book you recommend for a beginning artist?

Really dig you sharing your work like this. It's obvious your an extremely talented artist.
I was curious, what are you using for your video screen capture. Also are you using PC or MAC?
Thanks

@bubbleme85 It's a combination of practice and drawing from the shoulder. You also need to know how to draw lines as well. There is a wrong way.
