  • nice choic of test game

  • What does the label on the switch you shouldn't touch labeled? Any idea what it does?

  • @flarn2006 Its for flashing the system bios.

  • 5:45 :O

    A HDDVD xbox 360 DRIVER!!!

    AWESOME!

  • @TheAwey21 I actually have two of those things, as pointless as that is.

  • PANASONIC Q! I WANT THAT! D:

  • @clawproductionDX I was just playing Resident Evil 4 on it today actually.

  • @AdamKoralik How much is that? I looked on ebay and they only had 1 for almost 400$. I don't even have the ac adapter for my gamecube or a memory card!

  • @clawproductionDX I bought mine when it came out, but I think I paid like $300. Now...man...with the GameBoy Player (almost impossible to find) its probably worth at least a thousand.

  • @AdamKoralik Funny you said the gameboy player is rare cause i happen to have one! (without the disk though :( ) I got that for free when i bought a gamecube for 20$

  • @clawproductionDX Not the standard GameCube GameBoy Player. There was one specifically designed for the Panasonic Qube. If you do have that, then congratulations. But if you're talking about the regular one, then its nothing special.

  • i'll pay treyarch and activision 1 million dollars to port THPS3 to the Dreamcast.

  • That thingy that "blocks ports" looks like one of the security modules that are in the Sega Naomi arcade systems.

  • I also love the startup on the Dev kits, they should've just left that in for the actual release.

  • Where are these Dev kits made? Japan? China? US?

  • @mokos23 They were used in Japan, Europe, and the US. But I don't know where they were actually made.

  • I think it has a VGA output port which i wish i had! >:B

  • two simple symbols show my feeelings towards this piece <3 that is all :D

  • Wait,what?MIDI?!

  • @xan1242 I believe thats what I said, yes. I also have a MIDI cable for the Dreamcast. I did a video of it, check it out.

  • @AdamKoralik I meant,why would a Dreamcast use MIDI?

Also, did you try plugging in a MIDI controller or a synth to it?

  • @xan1242 I don't have any MIDI equipment. Just the Dreamcast MIDI cable, and I guess these development kits.

  • coooooooooooooooool

  • i would steal a car for one of these

  • Blue swirl means pal, red swirl is ntsc. Also happens on the production ones

  • 3:20 that's a SCSI terminator, which must be used when there are no SCSI drives (such as hard drives and GD-writers) attached to the SCSI bus.

  • Your stinking lucky! Ah I can't complain to much I have a PS2 dev tool, which is huge! It could probably squish the dreamcast one.

  • @Yoleirocks2000 A reasonable assumption indeed.

  • @Yoleirocks2000 Seems to be the implication.

  • 5:47 is that a panasonic Q?

    :O

  • @axter88 Yes.

Pozdrawiam i kolekcjonuj dalej :D.

  • @kamilm122 I'm sorry, I don't speak Polish. (That is Polish right? Your profile says you're from Poland.)

  • @AdamKoralik I thought you're Polish because of your name and surname ;).Anyway I'll translate my answer to you.

Very interesting movies. I have to say that you have great collection of equipment. Personally i would like to have all that stuff and dreamcast by my self. I've never had ocasion to play on a real mechine. Just few titles on a emulator (Crazy Taxi and Jet Grind Radio). Also i'm a programmer in C and C++ so for me that Dev-Kit (Katana) is more interesting to me. Cheers and keep going

  • @kamilm122 Well thank you.

  • H$w m$ch? XD

  • @wewantdreamcast2 Not selling, sorry.

  • Adam, that thing on the back is a "dongle" it's a hardware "key" to make sure software isn't pirated.

  • wholy crap those things sold for like 10000usd back in the 90s

  • im going to rob you

  • @fruitypeebils I'd prefer you didn't sir.

  • I would gut that and throw it in my PC case to play DC games :D

  • @Nemod6989 You wouldn't if you knew how much it was worth.

  • Can you elaborate on, or show a video of what happens when you try to run Shenmue on it?

  • @Psythik It gets as far as the "Sega" loading screen and just stays there. Thats all that happens.

  • lucky cunt

  • @omfgzhax Thanks.

  • Activity lights: Left: HDD Middle: GD-ROM Rght: SH-4 (when used with CodeScape etc) Switch: Left: read only (keep it at this almost always!) Right: write mode - use only when you wish to update the firmware Rotary: 0 = Japan 4 = USA 6 = Brazil 7 = Argentina Dips: Left 2 up: VGA Left to down: S-Video, composite Far right up: Self test mode (though needs VGA enabled too)
  • @LeGItX Well...that certainly helps. Thank you.

  • oh i didnt know that was Rez i didnt hear you

  • i wish i had one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • did you ever find out what that switch does?

  • @kingryan3000 Yes, it allows you to flash the firmware of the unit when hooked up to a PC.

  • nice choice on the game!

  • @nyeguitarist Thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • @zeldajunkielol2 The custom bios they're using is probably DreamShell, and anyone can load that. I also have the SD card reader, I just haven't done the video on it yet.

  • @AdamKoralik I would like to see a video on that. Also, where did you buy the SD card reader?

  • @zeldajunkielol2 I'll be doing it soon enough. I bought it from a Chinese website called TaoBao.

  • i believe it has a built in hard drive. why not try and get it hooked up to see if there are any betas?

  • @TheMachinimanator It doesn't, you need to install one.

This one does not contain a harddrive.

  • @AdamKoralik oh, what about your other one? the same?

  • @TheMachinimanator Same thing.

  • @AdamKoralik eh, it would have been cool though if you had some rare betas :)

  • @Thepear4 No idea, but I have two of them. That much I can be sure of. :P

  • It's a SCSI Terminator, the Katana box used SCSI.

  • @battyone Yeah, I found that out later. Thank you.

  • thats awesome how much did that set you back and do you know much about sega arcade hardware?

  • @adidas1984x I think it was like $400. And no, I don't.

  • ok iv look into it and you can put a DVD/CD laser in the Dreamcast the only problem is to find one that has the same IDE cable as the laser and the laser mother board not just that but you need to find a laser the has the same modem as the GD rom laser there are some out their but finding them are hard

  • AdamKoralik, do you scan the user guide for Dreamcast Development Kit ? I need it :) Thank you .

  • @CaptainCrunchityzer If and when I get mine up, I will make it.

  • @CaptainCrunchityzer I haven't actually got mine to run yet, I'm still working on it. Its kind of complicated because it uses antiquated technology as was designed for programmers, which I am not. But as I understand you can load a couple. You need a special harddrive that can only support up to 4 GBs of data.

  • @CaptainCrunchityzer Yes sir.

  • @CaptainCrunchityzer Actually the development kit can do that already. It has a built in harddrive.

Also, people have figured out how to run games off of an SD card on a Dreamcast.

  • @CaptainCrunchityzer Well yeah, no one knows about that thing. Only one prototype was ever made.

  • @CaptainCrunchityzer Like what? Plenty of forums contain ample amounts of information on the unit and how to use it.

  • @CaptainCrunchityzer Nope, its more than that.

  • @CaptainCrunchityzer Probably not. Its a development kit. Its used to make Dreamcast games.

  • @CaptainCrunchityzer If you're referring to Shenmue I and II and so on, I believe they need some additional piece of hardware which I just don't have.

  • @CaptainCrunchityzer Luck. The guy running the garage sale worked for Acclaim in the mid to late 90's. He grabbed that before he was fired.

  • Shenmue 1 and 2 doesn't work?

Burn it. There no point playing that thing.

  • you should do review of Phantasy Star Online please if you do i well respect you sooo much

  • @5585deathmage I will eventually.

  • @AdamKoralik haha cool bro :P you get my respect

  • I remember someone on ASSEmbler found a devkit in a computer repair shop for $50. The only dev hardware I've ever found was a debug blue PS1 at a garage sale for $20.

  • u also got the panasonic q ur really got a lot of money on u

  • 3:26 I think that is a SCSI terminator, being the time that kit would have come out I would imagine a external disk drive would be connected through SCSI.

  • @Dant2142 I know what the ports are for, its just that specific piece of plastic. I don't know how just covering up the port would be useful.

  • @AdamKoralik Well, you see SCSI, which I think is the interface the GD-R drive uses, is a parallel interface that (normally) has support for an up-to 7 device daisy-chain, That terminator would be used to loop back the signal, so that all of the devices could be recognized and so each device to talk to every other.

Since you don't need such a thing when nothing is plugged in, it likely came from the factory with that in there in case you should need it.

  • @Dant2142 Ah, well, good, now I know. Thanks.

  • Does it work with NTSC and VGA?

  • @2BunnyReturns Yes, it has its own VGA out.

  • @AdamKoralik

I know, you made a comment about that at the end, how you said you were outputting in NTSC in S Video, so I thought maybe it only worked in VGA With PAL. I guess you were just showing it to compare two things at once.

  • @2BunnyReturns Yeah, just comparing.

  • @AdamKoralik

Okay. Thats what I thought but I just wanted to make sure, LOL! Not that I've spotted one or anything.

  • Wow this Sega Dreamcast startup is way better than the original one.

  • @TheRaker55 Its pretty cool to be sure.

  • @AdamKoralik Actually I know because I own a Dreamcast.

  • @TheRaker55 I wasn't disagreeing.

  • @TheRaker55 I know that.

  • You know, if you ever decide to sell it... Nah, I'm not serious. Unless you really would sell it! ;P But great collection, I've never managed to obtain a Sega Katana. I hope to one day though.

  • @spyke4995 I'm in a position to lock down a second one actually. I'm still deciding if I should or not.

  • @AdamKoralik Only if you give it to me first. ;P

  • Great series and THANK YOU! for using a cot damn Tripod to film these videos, you have no idea what a treat this is! lol you know what I am talking about with the poorly lit one handed crappy sounding "review/demos" on youtube,, Thanks Subbed.

  • @BigAssController I'm glad you liked it, and thanks again for subscribing.

  • Wow thats so epic. thank you soooooo much for the video.

  • @Thereal50inchDLP Thank you for watching.

  • That thing on the back "thats supposed to block ports" is a scsi terminator (dont lose that ;) )

  • @monkapotomus I have two of them. What exactly does it do?

  • @AdamKoralik exactly what i said terminates scsi (you would have to look it up to know exactly what goes on with it) on older systems that needed scsi terminators though if you removed them your scsi chain would be broken and would not work without them

  • @monkapotomus Ah, good to know. Thanks.

  • where did you get the panasonic q? im looking for one i think 2 years now. and you have also the gameboy adapter. really cool collection.

  • @masterchief349 I got both on EBay a few years ago. Separately.

Thank you. When I finish with all the Dreamcast stuff (WILL TAKE A LONG TIME) then I'll probably do some videos on the other stuff. Such as the Q.

Feel free to subscribe, there are plenty of videos coming.

  • Thanks for the video :)

    i WANT one dev kittttttt!!!

    Dreamcast will never die!

  • Like I said in the video, only get it if you're a hardcore collector.

  • No way to connect a broadband adapter to it unfortunately.

  • it doesn't have a broadband adapter? Dood your insane tho a dev kit?! Thanks for sharing!
