  • This song still gets to me every time when I think about all the hard times on COP that me and my friends went threw. All the ppl that play now just go threw cop like its nothing and dont even care about the story. They just want there ring and move on. I remember I was soooo proud when Me and my friends finally got threw the end. This song will always remind me of all the struggle/hardtimes we wen't threw.

  • @bigphil0005 be thankful you got to experience that =)

  • @SVTcoolguy trust me I am lol,

  • Final Fantasy XI is an MMORPG. You can't beat it. There's no point.

  • most people think CoP ends at the fight with Promathia, i would actually like to FINISH CoP once and for all

  • Oh my god this is the worst thing I could listen to trying to go to bed. So much power in this song it made me fully awake and the presence when the woman began to sing I almost changed the video because I thought I might not be worthy to hear such beautiful lyrics. Thanks for uploading this!

  • to bad FFXIV sucks

  • The lyrics are in the esperanto language!

  • Bards should be able to cast this song >.>

  • it would be great if Sarah Brightman sing this song.

  • The hours, the strategy, the work that was put into CoP with my crew. We spent more time on the ground than in victory, and until that final moment, that final boss fight, to roll into a theme like this, made every bump in the storyline road totally worth it.

  • my family and i will be going to chicago to watch them on the 26th! lol, my friends like to tease me by telling me to have fun w/ my nerdgasm... >.>

  • Had the delight of seeing this live in Krakow Poland, was truly an inspiration to watch, and moving to the heart.....

  • She shoulda sung in japenese. keep the english version to Susan.

  • saw this live in Atlanta on may 7th. twas epic

  • I would love to hear Simone Simons or Tarja Turunen sing this o_o

  • @Nightstalker909090 Who are they?

  • @Feamelwen They're both classically trained female vocalists. Check out these two videos, and all will be made clear :)

    Simone Simons: watch?v=KGpcHR_O4IM

Tarja Turunen: watch?v=poJzbALlGhQ (This is a really old video).

  • @Nightstalker909090 The first vid is quite beautiful, but the second blew me away with its crappiness. An eurodance beat, terribly ininspired and cheap synths, an pseudo-operatic voice and "mystic" lyrics about a "sleepwalker" to convince you this is music for the intelligent people? Wow. Truely amazing. Haven't seen such a terrible thing since a long time. No wonder they tried to enter the Eurovision : home for crappy music all around Europe. Wow. This band is terrible.

  • @Feamelwen How's this for cheap synths? ;)

    watch?v=S_Hq9E96rK8

  • Just saw the Sydney version of this. Loved it!

  • EPIC, NEVER PLAYED THE GAME BUT LOVE THIS SOUND TRACK JUST EPIC

  • hello hellmikaal, this video has always been a personal favorite of mine and I would like to ask were can I download this for free or can you send this to me some how? please, thank you for your respond!

  • @Crimson0089 What browser do you use? If you use Firefox you can use the addon DownloadHelper to download the video straight from Youtube.

  • Must not resubscribe... Must not resubscribe...

  • I can't listen to this... it's almost unfair... nearly forcing me to reactivate my Playonline Content ID!!!!

  • The name of the song is Memoria De La S^tona not Memorio De La S^Tono -.- If you're gonna put it up at least put it up right, have you not played the Chains of Promathia story line? Moron.

  • @Phipple @Phipple It's listed as S^tono here. wwwDOTatlantasymphonyDOTorg/Calendar/2010/Final-Fantasy.aspx

  • @Phipple No, its "Memoro de la Ŝtono". Esperanto for "Memory of the stone". I believe "Memoria de la Stona" would mean the same thing but is in Spanish rather than Esperanto. The lyrics for the first part of the song are also sung in Esperanto.

  • @Kafeen In Spanish it would be, more exactly "Memoria de Piedra" (Memory of Stone) or "Recuerdos de la Piedra" (Memories of the stone)

  • @Phipple It's Esperanto, then Memoro = Memory (substantive) and Stono = Stone (substantive).....

  • can somebody tell me please at 8:09 does she whisper ( your heart) then she says soul?

and for people who said she cant speak english, well she is doing a very great job and get with the rhythm ALOT better than the rest.

  • And that's why the Final Fantasy series is the best gaming series off all time. Sure you get to play amazing games like Mass Effect and Uncharted but FF is even more than a game series, it's something magical!. Too bad FFXIV failed in almost every possible way. FFXI the best MMORPG of all time.

Thanks so much for this video.

  • This is so epic!!

  • Man... every time I hear this I find it very hard to resist getting back into XI! SUCH an awesome (albeit at times very, very frustrating) world!

  • mi amegas tiun lingvon! Mi amegas ESPERANTON!

  • I love this language! ! I love ESPERANTO!

  • Was this from a DVD or something? The quality is really good and I'd love to watch more!

  • uhm hello i have a question when distand worlds came to germany show that event in tv or Livestream in internet? how is that in other lands tv or Livestream?

  • Jesus Christ..Somebody get this bitch out and put Susan back in. She can't even speak english for gods sake.

  • @icyrazor

Dude, how would you feel if I made fun of how you spoke in a different language and you didn't say any of the words correctly?

The conductor chose her for a reason, because she has a beautiful voice.

  • @icyrazor The original recording was sung by her dimwit.

  • @sirtebian i agree remmber when i finished cops ^ ^

  • God....this is so beautiful.

  • FFXI shouldn't ever End <.< I am sooo sad that its gonna End now <.< its not Fair dammit!!!!!

  • the singer is Emiko Shiratori who sang Melodies of life for FFIX right?

  • @SigillumDiabole yes she sing the song from Final fantasy Xi what do you heare here

  • I just watched this live at the SFS Davies hall on friday but the singer was susan calloway at the Distant worlds concert. this was my favorite song of the night!

  • @typhoonika She graduated from The Kunitachi College of Music and the opera major of the Graduate school and also studied in The Juilliard School.

  • Sung decently well, to me this sounded better than the performance in Chicago 2008 Distant Worlds concert in which I felt was sung poorly, or tuned badly because that one was blaringly too loud and sounded like you were choking a cat.

This one to scale sounds pretty a little more balanced.

    Nice video.

  • I feel like the soloist was struggling with the language... I know how difficult the English-Japanese transition can be (I've studied Japanese), but this felt very weak, language-wise. She got the notes, the feel brilliantly, but... many times, if you're not singing in a language you know very well, it can be weak. I know from experience...

  • Vivu Esperanton! La internacia lingvo por chiuj!!

¡Viva el Esperanto, la lengua internacional de todos! Aprendedla, es muy fácil.

Hurra Esperanto! The international Language for all! Learn it! it's very easy.

  • @Aeltalen Como la aprendiste?

  • M.C.(Uematsu) is saying "She is expecting too".(So is RIKKI)

  • Any other FFXI vet thats been playing since launch, had countless flashbacks and memories of the game hearing this? Or even came close to shedding a tear?

    I did, yeah ill admit. . .

    see you bitches in FF14!

  • @crazybongo5 I don't play anymore but I still had that tear fall down. Some of my greatest mmo moments are with ffxi and I will never forget this game nor the music.

  • @crazybongo5

I also shed a tear at the end of CoP, this track played a huge part.

  • This is how musicians should play. The singer looks very into it - you can tell she enjoys playing this music. The music made shivers go down my spine - excellent.

  • I was so sad when I listened to my CD and heard this lady who sounded like she was from Broadway singing this song... this isn't a Broadway musical... change your voice accordingly, that lady has too much vibration in her voice... Love this version.

  • Cxi tio kanto estas tre bela!! Esperanto rocks!!!!

  • Wowzers, Penny. That lady has too much vibrato.

  • /cry such beautiful ffxi memories.

  • Agree! Shout out to Asura!

  • I much prefer the vocals from the other lady who sings this.

  • I hate the American lady, she sounds like she is singing on Broadway, this is not meant to sound like that.

  • I was always of the opinion that she was the original singer.

  • damn this is one badass song. ive actually never played the game were this song comes from, but still love final fantasy, 7 was my first wich i loved so fuking much, then i started 6, dawn of souls, 3 and 4, have the 2 movies. well thats not the frikin point, i have a cuestion, wich game of the series comes this song? i can already imagine the badass game. it kind of makes me think its like 7 and 6, were the music is just so damn perfect as game goes on. and when u listen to them, you remember

  • This song is from FF XI, the online game. I don't really consider it part of the FF series personally, but never mind, this song is still one of my all-time favourites ^^.

I agree about the music from VI and VII being amazing, but if you liked them, you should really play FF VIII. I find it's the best of the series to date.

  • lol well ffxi is a part of the mainstay ff series, just think of it as pleasing those into heavy roleplay and fantasy, not considering it a part of a series is like saying "if it aint offline it aint ff"

  • O_O Not really... It's nothing to do with the online/offline thang, it's just an outcast. The other FF games are all about progressing through the storyline, and bonding with the characters. I don't have anything against mmorpgs (I do play them myself) but playing as one character who has no personality is just not FF... That's my opinion anyways.

Back to the video... I actually prefer the woman who sings on the Distant Worlds album, anyone know her name?

  • "but playing as one character who has no personality is just not FF" -- So... Final Fantasy 1 wasnt FF eh? =/

  • Lol, I don't think so really, it took a while for FF to take shape, as all things do. I enjoyed FF 1, of course, and I did say I play mmorpgs too. But in the early days FF started finding it's way, found it, then headed in a different direction with the XI. Lol, it stands out from the others, you can't deny that. And as such my idea that it's not an FF style game isn't so far-fetched is it? In any case, I'm not enforcing this on anyone at all, but since you disagreed I elucidated it ^^.

  • Sorry, but your logic is as flawed as all the others that say "XI is not a true FF".

By your logic FFVII isn't a "true FF". Cloud had no personality whatsoever.

XI had a main story, and many side stories with each expansion. It had a bigger story, and world than most of the offline FFs. It was probably the most fleshed out game I've ever played.

  • @popnkiba FFVII isnt a real FFXI? lmao!!!

    w

and why is it labeled FF?

btw FFVII CC and AC where the best FF rpg games ever!!! gogo zack!

  • @KiisuShiite Seems like you can't read.

  • @popnkiba yep. also there were 3 history books released in japan that unfolded the whole story of vana'diel till the the day you start to play.

  • @GooseberryMk2 you ever played ffxi? it has some of the best crafted storylines ever. just mentioning wotg and cop out there. but yeah apart from playing as a single person yes ffxi ist not part of the "usual" ffxi. but other than that: all else fits perfectly and makes it a worthy ff-part.

  • this video has a description for a reason...

  • malbela Fekajo mi faris ci tiu saman stultecon en 9 rapidaj lau tiu estas en Esperanto, imbecilo :P

  • Just think about the memories, the blood shed, the hours spent coming up with strategies, hanging out with your mates, among so many other aspects while traversing the CoP storyline.

There's not a single game in the world like FF XI. The entire experience is so...memorable and captivating. I am glad to have met the people I did and create numerous friendships.

The memories of the game will stay imprinted in your mind because of music like this. Thank you Mr. Uematsu {/kneel}.

  • amen to that

  • I agree with you , I played for 3 years. For its time it was amazing. When I dinged 75 RNG I was on a high for 2 weeks. 4 hour Kirins :D

It actualy enspired me to make games as a career.

Shame the new generation of gamers missed it. Ah well :D

  • I completely agree with you. The things you experience in FFXI can't be experienced in any other Final Fantasy. It holds a very special place in my heart.

A big thank you to all the people I've met on FFXI(Caitsith), good and bad. You all have a place in my memories.

  • @Ajinin I know what you mean. I remember all the times my groups have failed and the excitement we felt once we finally beat a boss, or a hard fight. Our setup was nowhere near ideal, but we were determined. It was one of the funnest times I had in the game and fairly frustrating.

  • @Ajinin I completely agree i quit ffxi two years ago and till this day i still cry when i listen to this song or watch the cs CoP made me cry like a baby and just seeing everything come together like that at the end just makes my cry more.

  • @Ajinin

a million times this and what an amazing experience FFXI was for me! Thanks to all the fantastic people I met from around the world..and my crazy static COP party! I really hope they all thrive in their lives.

Greetings to Xizor, Azat, Aindrias, Sucre, Robinhood, Azzorack, Rennin and my self Bakous from Siren server!

  • @Ajinin so true ^^

  • @Ajinin

A very big necro bump but you grasped everything for me perfectly, it's so hard to put an experience like FFXI into words and not just the CoP story line.

I have so many memories and the music plays a huge factor, when I listen to OST's these like specific zones just shoot me right back to 05/06 and I get such a huge nostalgia kick. Uematsu is definitely a legend I'll be forever grateful to.

FFXI was a huge part of my teenage years and I treasure it dearly.

  • @Ajinin I remember Promyvion all too well. It was fun though.

  • Mmm...I thought she did wonderful. Listening to both versions I can say that I like this one better. Her accent I think brings something to the table. And it sounds just as soulful as it should -,-. Why can't people just enjoy the very wonderful performance?

  • Yah that wasn't very good. The woman can probably sing well in any other case but she just didn't fit with this song especially with her style of singing.... at all.

  • Or most likely you're not realizing she's a professional CLASSICAL opera singer and doesn't utilize the plebian singing voice you hear on the radio every day, and/or you're a massive douche.

  • Hmmm, it was alright. I'm not saying she can't sing or anything because obviously she can, but it sounded a little flat sometimes. I don't really care about her not being able to pronounce everything correctly, different country, whatever, but it didn't seem as professional as the one I'd seen. I dunno, maybe it was just the recording, but it made me feel a little uncomfortable.

  • Singapore's featured Anna Koor, who didn't enunciate properly either.

Sorry to butt into the past comments and the ridiculous flame war that seems to be going on in the comments page, but I'm Asian and I can speak perfect English (:

  • It's not too bad.... Doesn't matter as we can always just focus on the music itself. :)

  • Nobody cares if you can speak perfect English? First and foremost, you probably couldn't match her vocalization if you life depended on it. Secondly, you may be of Asian heritage, but were you born in Asia, speaking Chinese, Japanese, or any other language other than English as your first language? DOUBTFUL so feel free to shut up immediately. She sings the song wonderfully, period point blank. I am so used to hearing is sung this way that if I heard it any other way it wouldn't sound right.

  • #1. I don't have to be a good vocalist to be able to pass a comment on vocals. A critic does not have to be a good movie producer, and vice versa. Your logic is inherently flawed.

#2. I have been speaking English as my first language for as long as I can remember, I am fluently versed in three different languages and I have no idea how that fits into your argument anyhow. It is likely that I could school you in the mastery of at least two languages, good SIR.

  • I applaud anyone that tried their best to learn our very "Diverse" Language < kidding on Diverse.

  • The discussions going on here, however, are really ruining the whole notion of "Distant Worlds".

  • well, she's actually the original singer of this song.

this song was released well before the concert tour was started, and Izumi was the one who recorded the song. (this was in 2005)

  • love this song <3

  • She looks like an angel

  • Your a piece of shit you fucking low life. If you don't think this music is good you have to be the most biggest fuck up I have ever heard of in my life. The composer has won numerous awards, so clearly it is not shit. So whatever, sit in your basement and bitch you asshole.

  • I totally dont care about FFXI, but this music is just....well...

im HAPPY that I bought the DVD :)

  • I don't like her voice but u can tell she tries her best. Would love to hear Sarah Brightman doing a take on the song.

  • In a word....UGH. I can't believe you'd rather hear that generic of generic sopranos than someone with some quirk to her voice. I think this lead does an amazing job.

  • After hearing this, I cannot express how much I miss FFXI now. :(

  • i actually almost cried after winning all the hard bc missions lol (back when they where hard)

  • Agree!

  • Or incoherent sobbing if you'r like me~

  • lol gotta love Arnie roth

  • well this song was composed for final fantasy if you played any of the games you would know they mix several languages in songs so i think they did this on purpose. i believe it is beautiful

  • The "Distant Worlds" version is a million times better than this

  • Ok, this is a bit off-topic discussion :-P

  • The singer is sooooooo not bad.

She sings the way the song is supposed to sound.

Many asian songs are sung in a way that is similar to this one. For example, suteki da ne.

    It's a style. It's not about the singer's performance.

  • I believe you know some asian people in millions that sucessfull pronounce English after many years of hard work. But for the most of asian people is too much dificult to submiss to north-american culture. Here in Europe is much easy, about 1% of our young students sucess to learn English to talk for more of 5 minutes with a 8 yo american girl after the end of secundary school (7 years of learning), and I know 3 guys that knows to say apple instead haipal or ápal (one is miself).

  • Considering you can't even speak English properly yourself, I don't think you have any clue what you're talking about.

  • Well, I studed that hardly in school for 7 years and I was the best of my class. And after that I don't have any idea what means the word "clue". A-word-I-can't-remember, I studed Esperanto for 16 months and I am reading my 6th book. I tried to make the same thing with a english book, and underscore the worlds I didn't know. Well, I finished an entire page, but the page after I can't read because was totally marked with the underscores of the other :-p

  • Study English is a stupid waste of time - you can finnish 2 engeniering courses instead, is much, much better for you.

  • If you can't communicate properly, how are you going to get anything engineered?

You see, I just thought you were talking about an object called "Study English", and "engeniering" courses from Finland. My mind had to work to translate what you typed. Your mind should not have to work to understand it's own primary language. You fail.

  • Yes, you are right. I don't express fine because I'm retarded, the linguage barriers have not any influence. By the way, linguage barriers does not exists, the problem is the non-american people, it is too much stupid.

  • being non-american myself (welsh) i dont know what you mean by this comment. just sit down and enjoy the music instead of ckog-blogging

  • Sorry, 5 years studing was not enough to learn what is a welsh or a ckog-blogging. So I don't have the right to have an oppinion abouth your comment.

  • Yes, because everyone needs to fluently speak English to be able to Engineer in a non-English speaking country.

    Idiot.

  • Communication =/= speaking english. It means communicating in whatever language the situation requires.

Who's the idiot, me making a relevant comment, or the person who just jumped on the flamethrower without bothering to understand what was written?

And when did a 'non-english speaking country' come into conversation? The discussion pertained to no county, no language, just to the concept of effective communication. There should be no more discussion here except about FFXI.

  • Studying english is NOT a waste of time, it's a language used to communicate, Oksigeno, I don't know what method or environment used to teach you, and it didn't work that well, but that doesn't make it useless for everyone else too. Unless this is your opinion, then we don't need to care on educating you with a different view.

  • Curse you ffxi for doing this to me...It doesn't matter if they are off key I still get shivers when i hear this song. Nearly brings a tear to my eye...

  • The solo trombone is off at the beginning. And the Male singers are off key.

  • I wouldn't say she's bad, but it is different. I'm glad that her English is understandable as I've always wanted to hear a version like this, because when I first heard the song, I could not understand what Izumi Masuda was saying. I still enjoyed it though. Very much so. But I had to look at the lyrics to understand what was being said.

  • The singer sings bad! oO

I prefer the "Distant Worlds" version.

  • Well, it Japanese English for you! But i have to disagree. I didn't like the Distant Worlds version. I found the vocalist's accent and style very annoying and inappropriate. I'm sure she's a great pop, jazz or contemporary vocalist, but a classical or operatic style is much more suitable for this piece.

  • wow this is great

  • Thank you for uploading, this is great! It's a very difficult song to sing it seems, as it's borderline opera

  • Esperanto sounds so beautiful ! *-*

  • Mi helpas vin lerni ĝin :D

    3w . lernu (net)

  • Vivu esperanto la vera internacia lingvo !

  • Tiu kanto bonege montras kiel Esperanto estas tre agrabla lingvo.

  • what part of 1 is Momoro de la stono from? I know distant worlds is from the end to CoP, but this other part sounds maybe like its from the WotG trailer?

  • Its happens in a number of places you first hear it during the FFXi intro.

  • yeah good racist comment right there. Rate down

  • This isn't Japanese, it's Esperanto.

  • @Shikimoribito This isn't Allakazham. That was a reference to VG Cats as someone else mentioned. Try to keep up next time?
