I, too, miss the Christmas specials of Andy Williams, Bob Hope, Perry Como, Bing Crosby, John Denver, and others. WHY can't TV producers see a NEED for this type of quality programming again. I am SICK of all this RAP Christmas CRAP!
Wish I could've seen this way back then, Andy Willams you're really young at heart. It inspires us all to live to got to our the greatest potentials in life in what the Lord has given us, despite the difficulties in life nowadays. God Bless you
1985... Wow just graduated from High School. Wonder why this was never aired here in the Philippines? Andy Williams...such a great voice. Pres. Reagan was right Mr. Williams' voice should have been proclaimed as America's National Treasure!
it just goes to show with a bit of effort VH1 & MTV could of found a video of Most Wonderful Time instead of filling their "Christmas" countdowns with songs that have nothing to do with Christmas
These christmas specials were eagerly awaited for each year! It really put people in the spirit! Why when so many people would love to have these again, dont the GD tv networks put on specials like this anymore? EVERYONE i know said the same thing...they would watch and love it!
Who was the kid that tap danced....he was really good! I missed this one back in the 80's,but i remember the Andy Williams and Perry Como etc specials from the 1970's.Thanks for sharing!
That would be Carlton Banks himself, Alfonso Ribiero...he was on Silver spoons during the time this aired and was starring on Broadway in The Tap Dance Kid...and he did that pepsi commercial where he dressed like michael jackson
Thank you for sharing this...I loved his specials along with many others years ago...I wish life was this simple again and families gathered around together for these specials..you had to watch it then and there because there was no taping or recording it or dvr to watch it later....Merry Christmas to all this year!!
Man, I miss these specials. Every year, we'd wait for Andy's, Bing's, Bob's, Perry's...and also a lot of great syndicated "UHF channel" repeated Christmas specials. And they all always had one major sponsor, with interruptions for commercials usually only at the quarter and half hours--end of story (and ads!). Won't ever see that again! We waited all year in those days for those pre-video- and -DVD-taping days.
@italoman9 I do too! I'm glad for all of those great performers. It was a simpler, and I would say happier time. I hope we can find some again and have wonderful Christmas shows like this to pass on to our children and grandchildren.
Hey...it's Alfonso Ribeira (Carlton on Fresh Prince of Belaire). He was starring in the Tap Dance Kid on Broadway at the time of this special.
