  • Woah, that seal was being a total dick at 3:51!

  • dang thats insane! your gunna have to hook me up on some good dive spots and reefs!;D

  • hey when are you going to make another video?

  • @TheSpearo92 , I am going to make another video very soon. It will be called "Going Green" or something like that. The video will be about spearfishing in murky waters, with info about the difficulties of doing so, and ways to work around the challenges. The highlight of the video will be me shooting a 62 pound white seabass in the head!!! Stay tuned.

  • Do you use filters on your mask for the videos? If so, which colors?

    Thanks,

    Gav

  • @StrengthFromAbove83 , I did not use any filters, The camera is programed to change the contrast and add color correction when needed. Great camera - great footage!

  • @freedivingdan Now that is pretty amazing. I'm gonna have to pick one of those up. How's the volume of the mask? Just like any standard scuba mask?

  • @StrengthFromAbove83 , The volume is like a low volume scuba mask, or a medium volume freediving mask.

  • If im in the camp pendlton area how deep should I go for kings and what time of year

  • @spearfishusmc , (lings - not Kings right?) Rather than go deep, thin about where the lingcod prefer to be. I find that the concentrations of lingcod improve North of Malibu. I have shot several Lings at Malibu, but most of them are small (about 10 to 13 pounds) If you continue north, the lings get bigger. North of Pt. Conception is the best bet for finding good numbers of lings. Once you get to Big Sur and Carmel, you will be in the area where big lings are very common. Good luck.

  • Thanks Halibu77,

It was good meeting you today at HMB kayaking company. Hopefully, soon, the WSB bite will start in Monterey and I will pick up my rod and reel and join you for some kayak fishing!!!

Keep your lines tight, and I will post another Mexico video in 2 weeks. I am going back down to Baja in 2 days!!!

  • Great job Dan, I just subscribe. Luv watching the kill shots..

I like watching the underwater life and you take good shots of it.

  • I have ben using the single stock 18mm Omer band on my Omer Kanaloa speargun. I am not sure what the length of the band is.

  • How big of a band do you use on your Kanaloa? And is that what the gun comes stock with?

  • You can read my comments under the video for more info, but the short answer is - Liquid Image Hd wide angle mask #322.

  • Yes, the bull sea lion wanted to fight with the tip of my gun! Luckily he did not stick himself on it or it would have been very interesting for me to handle.

  • that seal's got an attitude at 3:54!

  • Hey Matt, Yes, all the footage I shot was with the Liquid Image Wide Angle HD dive mask. Product # 322 - The quality is simply amazing! Harold got a few clips with his Go-Pro camera, but the majority of this video was with the Liquid Image Mask.

  • was this shot with the liquid image ?

  • Hey aLilBitOEverything,

To answer your second question - Monterey vs. Carmel.

Monterey offers shallower depths and a good variety of fish, but often these fish as slightly smaller than in Carmel.

Carmel offers access to deep water relatively close to shore, and usually less divers frequent the dive spots, hence the greater numbers of fish and their larger size. Carmel also has more holes that are conducive to harboring big lingcod.

    Good luck!

  • Hey aLilBitOEverything,

I dive anywhere from 10ft deep to 80ft deep. The average depth I shoot the best fish is between 30ft and 50ft. Many of the fish in Carmel are located in the holes, as you can see in the video. The holes that provide the best shelter from the swells usually hold fish. Using a flashlight will increase your chances of spotting the fish hiding in the darkest part of the hole. I hope that answers your first question.

  • What is better spearfishing, Monterey or Carmel?

  • How deep were you going, because i was up there last weekend diving in like 15-20ft and only saw 2 perch and a grass bass.

  • Tim - Yes, this was all shot in just 2 days! This is an example of how knowing the reef and the holes can produce 10 fold! Thank god for my Garmin GPS!

  • Matt, When I go diving with you, I will shoot lots of footage. Scout some big trophies and I will shoot the video of you guys taking home the glory!

  • Awesome hunting!

  • As usuall great job and you guy's slayed it !!! when you come up to do the trophy dive with me and paul you should do a short vid on it !

  • Awesome video! I heard this was all over just two days...that's a lot of fish!

  • Beautiful vid guys. Nice fish too. Thansk for sharing.

  • Sweet the 3D wetsuit Is Cool And the 3d camo Speargun to sick. I bet you can't wait for the Next Camo wetsuit omer is going to give you to test lol.

  • Epic video for sure, it's great to see how it's done. Maybe now, I will stop shooting at rocks and more fish. Lol
