  • what if you want to do it the other way around. share a hard drive from a win7 to an XP?

  • Let's say... This video is THE BEST TUTORIAL I EVER SAW!! Really! Thanks to you I finally managed to share files between my old crappy Windows XP machine and my new Windows 7!!!!!!!

    THANKS YOU SO F*CKING MUCH!!

  • song?!!!!!

  • @muzikfiend Some random one from YouTube AudioSwap.

  • you can't do this unless you have a router right?

  • @powel5 Yup. They need to be connected to the same network and they should have the same workgroup name. They should also be able to discover each other.

  • I have the sharing from the xp to the vista machine working just fine but I cant access the shared drive on the vista machine from the xp one. Any help would be great, thanks

  • thanks a ton very clean instructions Awesome + saved me a ton of time :))

  • i get an access denied error when i tried to access it!

can any one help me ?

  • LOVE URE TUTS *no homo* so simple 2 the center

  • is sharing similar on windows 7? I recently updated my vista pc to 7, and if anyone can help me, that would be great.

  • you copied this vid!!! fom microsoft

  • No I didn't. I made it myself.

  • @computerkid911 would microsoft make a vid using a free unregistered hypercam

  • thanks for finding this video...but dude how bout my portable HDD..can i unplug it fr my computer and run it to other computer..i tried it twice but nothing happpens..i mean i cant locate it to other computer...pls help..tnx!!!!

  • What do you mean? You tried to disconnect it from a PC and still tried to access it from another?

  • @Antrikshy thats not what i mean mate...i plugged it out fm my pc den plugged it in to other pc from my nieghbor...but it does not detected or showing on other pc..tnx

  • Oh, in that case, you need to map it again. The computer that maps it remembers it as a location over the network, and that address includes the computer it is on.

That means, when you map it when it is connected on one PC, the PC mapping it recognizes it as a hard disk on that PC. You cannot connect it to another PC and still use it as the same hard disk without mapping it again.

In case of any other computer problems, send in a Personal Message.

  • mistake

  • Thanks for that. If you have any more PC problems, I am here to help. Just send me a Personal Message, or contact via Twitter, same username. Also, I now support Facebook, same username.

  • can i share a dvd drive?

  • Yes, of course! I think so... LOL.

Well, I tried it once, and I shared it, never used it though. I know, it can be really, really useful like that. Now get a TV with Wi-Fi! Wow, no region code hassles too.

  • its not working 4 me my xp computer is connected to my wireless router thru a usb and my vista is using a wireless connection will this still work

  • No, don't connect via USB. It won't work in any case. It is okay to connect via a network cable, but no USBs here.

  • i cant share at all

  • Is the network perfect? What kind of network is it? Are you running Vista or XP? See if you can access the Public Folder on both the computers? It's autmatically shared. Also, if using Vista, check Network and Sharing Center. There is an option to enable file sharing. I don't remember if it is just Public Folder sharing. Check it, and enable it. Then try. Send me a Personal Message. Then we'll take it further. I don't like the limited characters here. Explain every detail there.

  • the drive i share on my desktop i cant map it on my laptop over wifi

  • Oh, then see it is made public, and is shared openly, or password protected over the network. It should be discoverable to be discovered.

  • this is sum crzy video

    thx yo

  • thanks man, this video helped alot
