  • Put simply we have gotten to big for our britches

  • just conserve if you want to go to McDonald in your hummer fuck it eat at home

  • Great film...I converted my home to a net-zero solar powered home and made a video about it called, "Preparing for Peak Oil".....

  • If I could address the horse people for a second. At the turn of the last century ( 1900) a full one quarter of the farmland in the U.S. was used to provide fodder for horses. There were 100,000 horses on Manhattan alone. (By the way, each horse plops out 20 pounds of horse pucky a day...so you do the math.) Compare the upkeep of a horse to the upkeep of an electric bicycle, or an slow electric car.

  • drmoestoesq, please don't confuse the dupes with uncomfortable facts.

  • they're gonna have to tax your so called "victory garden". chineese people have to eat ya know ?

  • In the future we are going to need a way to end urban sprawl so that cities large and small can become more compact and energy efficient. The only way to do this is to take the profit out of land speculation, the cause of sprawl and of the failure of center urban land to be used more efficiently. The simplest way to end urban sprawl is to tax land values heavily via a reformed property tax while at the same time eliminating the tax on improvements to reward rebuilding. Effective Green policy.

  • It is quaint to think that so many people acting on survival instinct after *immense* societal disruption (such as the failing of suburbia) would patiently wait for a whole new paradigm of living to provide them all with enough food, warmth and safety without the spectre of dysfunction ravaging everything first.

Too many clamouring for the remnants of suburbia while being in a massive state of denial about their whole way of living up to that point. Only then shall the meek inherit the earth.

  • I love it. Anarchy is brewing with this loss of precious oil, its gonna weed out the weak. Get rid of the wimpy self indulged pusses that are taking over our poor planet. OIl has made life too easy and people too weak. I say fuck em. better start learning how to grow your own food and make your own clothes and live off the land. cuz if you don't your gonna die. I'm amused at the idea. Its a modern evolution, survival of the fittest. Amazing shit isn't it?

  • although I am very open to farming, I do not know how to grow vegetables, my generation is very out of touch with that sort of thing.

  • Come on people we have everything we need on this planet to survive while being in harmony with nature. What is lacking in the human race is imagination on one end and greed on the other. We as human being will not solve the problem until we understand our true history and sources behind what is happening. People are creatures of habit and don't want to give up the status quo for a new paradigm. That is why the planet will force us into a solution by threat of death and destruction.

  • Six words, AMERICA NEEDS TO BREED MORE HORSES!

    preferably now.

  • what do you mean we need to breed more horses? explain please?

  • Ok, I don't mean to make you out to be retarded or anything but what are millions of Americans in suburbia going to do when they can no longer afford buying rediculously priced fuel for their cars? I mean any fuel, not just gasoline, I'm also talking about any bio-fuels and hydrogen as well. The gov. is trying to fool us with those things but it's more of a PR stunt to keep the masses calm. lol.

  • so breeding more horses to "RIDE" to work is going to work? is that what you're saying? LOL. americans can't even take care of their dog...a 1200 lb horse...that would be a disaster. lol

  • Well, I don't know which Americans you mean but I'm sure my family can handle a horse or two, we've had them before. Sucks for the rest of the country then, huh? I guess if people can't take care of a horse lots of people will either learn or die of thirst and hunger, huh? lol. People that live off in the middle of nowhere up in the hills within track housing are going to suffer the most, lets see them walk or even ride a bike...most of California (here) is like that, it's scary.

  • Okay no offense...but even if your family is the Pat parelli/monty roberts or the horse world..what are you contributiting to the rest of society...how will you convince them. stilll..can you ride a bike instead of relying on a four legged beautiful being to get you around? thats the question? your family "might? be able to love a equine, but i have heard this many times before and its a dream. explain to me why american would really benifit....i mean...REALLY?

  • I would actually prefer a bike or an electric scooter (charged by solar) to move myself about over a horse. It would be more cost effective for either. My main concern with horses is they can pull bigger loads. Scooters or bikes will not cut it in that area.

  • First off peak oil does not mean we will run out of oil. Instead it means will have less of it. The best way to solve this problem is for people to become more local. To use more group based transportion like train and subways. If anything the oil crisis is probably going to be the best thing to happen as far as bring people togeather.

  • "Americans can't even take care of their dog" Now are you speaking for all 300 million Americans?

  • Yeah, you know the foreigners...they see people like Paris on T.V. mistreating their dogs and they think that America as a whole is just the same...lol.

  • no my friend, but those of us that can...we dont know of those that cant.but they are everywhere! peta kills more dogs than they save...why? cause americans dont care. the golden retriever is the most neglected dog, though its suppose to be a great dog..go figure. in the western states...a horse sits in the front yard like a dog..though no one pays most attention to them..we neglect those we should love. some of us don't but majority do..look round you friend....you know its true.

  • Yeah but you DON"T think we are all PETA suppoters. I have a 10 month old weimaraner and you would be impressed with what she knows.

  • i know and i understand, but you and I are the exception...what do we about everyone else?

  • hehe, No people will become more locally dependent, then foreign dependent. People will start living closer to their jobs and housing will follow. The people will simply stop moving and abandone the surburbs. Who is going to stay in a place with so many inconvinces. The surburbs will most likely become the new slums.

  • We'll all use less oil like commuting by train or subway together. More less driving and walking and biking for Americans. That will exactly improve the health of Americans and decrease obesity and other diseases.

  • Doom saying retardation, whats going to happen when gas is expensive?

The shoe lace express, thats what you twit.

  • Bike to a job that has doesn't exist? Oil is used for many more things than just fuel for your car. You need to think long-term and take a simple economics course so you understand how everything is related.

  • @killyertv0 Yes, but tansport is by far the biggest user of oil

  • lol. or the spoke express...we're do damn overweight anyway....we all should be on mountain bikes my friend!

  • Bacchetta recumbent bicycles rule!

  • your a faggot

  • Hooray for Kate! I am very glad to see a woman taking the lead on this horrendous issue.

PS - people, you're merely being asked to change, why put up such a fight?

  • Nice boots kate!
