  • Take a look at Neil's lyrics and tell me who the better musician is. And you really need to listen to rush to hear that Neil just has more emotion and feel as a drummer. I'd take him any day over Portnoy.

  • theres no such thing as a 12th note, just because there are 12 triplet subdivisions in a 4/4 measure doesnt make them 12th notes. 6/12 time doesn't make sense.

  • That's exactly what I said. It wasn't actually a question, since the answer followed the interrogative immediately. I guess I could have been more clear. Berklee time evidently uses strangely divided meter, but it's all just for show. Stated simply, 6/12 time is an unsimplified fraction. You're really talking about 2/4, which is nothing special.

  • 8th note triplets are 12th notes. However, you will - as far as I know - never hear of anything in X/12 time. For example, 4/4 is the same as 12/12 if you're playing triplets. Besides, you almost always use the common denominator when defining time signatures - 6/12 is actually 2/4 or 1/2, which is a real time signature. Also, I can play most Dream Theater songs on the drums.

    the instrumedley contains parts of the dance of eternity yes (offcourse), but also several other dream theater, liquid tension experiment, and other songs...
