  • She is a complete noob compared to the 5 years old "Xylophone girl" of North Korea!

  • very poor sound quality for such a beautiful recital

  • ... I have a friend named Kia Dodge.

  • is she playing in mezzo ppppppppppppiano

  • of course...shes asian,no wonder shes so freakkin good

  • @sunnyangel96 : Yeah right, everybody knows theses people dont't have to make 'efforts' to be awesome.

  • she totally seems like one of those girls where her parents were so intent on her becoming a pro xylophonist they didnt waste the time to give her presence or teach her to talk..

  • the volume is so low

  • Eew... Dynasty.... XP

  • 88 people wished the uploader would have done some damn amplification and hiss removal on this video.

  • 88 People tried playing this song.

  • What is it with Asians and pitched percussion?

  • That is a kick ass name

  • beautiful.

  • she could give marimba ponies a run for their money...

  • @zacoboe That's gotta be the best reference I've ever seen on Youtube. Good job! You're #1 in my book.

  • Hi there, I am researching percussion literature and I wondered what the name of this piece is and if you have any information on it?

    Many thanks,

    Tim

    Percussion Music Online

  • @PercMusicOnline This is definitely a Keiko Abe medley. Bits and pieces from "Marimba D'Amore" and a hint of "Frogs" I think (1:47). Marimba D'Amore is around 10-12 minutes long, so this must have been abridged for time constraints. I've played Marimba D'Amore but I haven't played Frogs... so I might be wrong on that part. Hope this helps.

  • @PercMusicOnline Piacer D'Amore by Kieko Abe

  • I just clapped. Miss Suzuki, god speed. You make me want to come back and play the marimba once more. That was a beautiful performance.

  • Relaxing, maybe, but I think it's a little empty, it miss something and I don't like the sound.

  • I don't know how EIGHTY people didn't like this, I think it's awesome. Super relaxing ^_^

  • She, like most other instrument playing Asians, probably had a brain implant.

  • wth u can hardly hear it

  • Wow. Really good inner mallet technique. That's never been my forte but I wish I had that kind of technique. That would really help on those fast runs.

  • You marched NCA didnt you?

  • shes awesome. i'd like to see her use concert mallets and technique so its not so hard sounding.

  • i wana hear her go ape shit

  • @MonkeyMinno LOL same

  • nice very nice

  • yuki suzuki is there a more japanese name then that it must be their version of alan smith of something

  • yeah i started with 4 sticks last year it is difficult but you can play so much more

  • I've tried 4 sticks instead of 2. I suck at it.

  • wow amazing and beautiful. thanks you.

  • mein gott is des schlecht yukki

  • yay! another girl percussionist=D

i am a girl percussionist in my middle school band=D and it rocks

  • @ChildofTigerstar lol there are plenty of female percussionists. I play for my highschool but I love snare for marching band, not a fan of mallets really. Glad you like band XP *Completely random*

  • @Stickclickxx i hate playing the mallets...i like the snare drum and the bass drum =]

  • @ChildofTigerstar lol finally, someone else who hates playing mallets. Ah i've played bass for a while so now i'm in love with snare and tenors XD Are you doing marching band?

  • @Stickclickxx i am when i go in to highschool next year.

i kinda have to if i'm in first semester band...oh well =]

but i want to be in it=]

  • And next up is HONDA CIVIC!

  • @iCanMakeAmovieDude ahahahaha

  • @iCanMakeAmovieDude this comment was the first to ever make me bust out laughing. LOL!

  • @iCanMakeAmovieDude You make my life, so much better.

  • @iCanMakeAmovieDude wow that was a bit offensive but at the same time kinda awkwardly funny

  • @iCanMakeAmovieDude OH come on. Seriously?

  • sheet music ?

  • Great play.Whats the name of the song?

  • stop hating gosh she just having fun..:[

    haters

keep going girl i play percussion or xylophone and you are AWESOME!!!!!!!

  • who thats low sound indeed :O

  • lol u have turn up the vlm

  • that's nice

  • Check out "Manyatera" - Singing Wood

I am in NZ and do not know any of them but they are really worth listening to.

  • bit useless if you can't hear the music properly!

  • it sounds awesome with ear phones.....next time listen to the directions given..."for best audio please use headphones".....

  • I know the original plaisir d'amour, but that isn't plaisir d'amour, even if she wants it to be plaisir d'amour.

that's not good. it sounds amateurish.

even if she's a pro, maybe it's because of the marimba. but the harmonics sound wrong, such as the beat of her play.

and you're right, she doesn't seem to be very talented...

  • Comment removed

  • I just said it sounds not good xD

that it's hard to play doesn't have to mean it is a good tune. and the low tunes sound really wrong.

    (that's because of her marimba)

and it's tactless, in which meter is it written?

plaisir d'amour is originally written in 3/4, but what is that?

  • Wrong.

  • boring music

  • youre a boring person. go youtube something else you actually like.

  • lol dont hate. she won this year

  • ....

  • What a generic and boring marimba piece. There are many nice ones out there.... this is just painful.

    Execution was fine tho :)

  • It sounds good, but it's beat is very bad!

    she isn't very talented.

  • that made so much sense it was ridiculous.

  • ....?

  • She plays "Piacer D'amor" by Keiko Abe, isn't she?

  • Yes, it sounds like Plaisir d'Amour to me, too.

  • This video is uber quiet, even with my volume at max (on my computer and the video)

  • you all need to stop listening to music on your shitty computer speakers. It ruins quality. I can hear it fine

  • am i deaf?

  • can't hear

  • I think my hearing aid is broken!... Oh wiat, I do not have a hearing aid.

  • ok ii think i have gone deff i turned my volume up al the way and i still cant hear her

  • have i gone deaf?

  • nope its a bad video

    bad sound bad view

even worse jackass who doesnt know where th volume button is

  • volume was all the way up idiot

  • All I can say about this video is: Her name is fun to say! good job!

  • Her name is pretty catchy lmao

    YUKI SUZUKI

  • Lol at the beginning i was like... I CANT HEAR ANYTHING!!!

  • Great

  • She's japanese, I'm pretty sure that Japanese isn't a tonal language. Chinese is.

  • Japanese is tonal in the same way as English; If you put the emphasis in a wrong place you'll get an odd look, but that's about it. :)

  • Chemiecta means technically tonal. In English it still means the same thing, just doesn't sound right. In chinese its a totally different meaning.

  • I think your playing if fine. There is a difference between robotized, professional, and ridiculous playing, and I think you were very professional. Good job, keep up the posts!

  • Comment removed

  • to many bells marimbas xylos vibros I know what I'm telling you,...add some horns or real percussion not some "Vibra slap player

  • vibra slaps are awesome man and so is all these solos and who are you to say that a marimba isn't a real percussion instrument huh? people can do what they want and you don't really 'know' what you're telling us because you know NOTHING!

  • you had me at awesome

  • Comment removed

  • your an idiot

  • if drum corps didn't have a pit. then, half the melodies from some dci shows from last year wouldn't sound as cool, for example carolina crown's show had a lot of pit.

  • im sorry, but w/e song she played she really got me bored out!

  • I have to agree with you. The playing was great but the song itself was boring.

  • She doesn't look very happy playing.

I hope it's just because she's under a lot of pressure to perform.

  • I turned my volume up all the way and still couldn't hear the beginning minute or so. =( Sad.

  • I LOVE that name.

  • absolutely beautiful piece, very well done.

  • I really had to turn the volume up, but I'm sure glad I did. Great job

  • its stupid add some volume seriously!

  • This is to fall asleep with this song. In addition sense seems that it(he,she) does not make.

  • I dont think most musically talented people are actually dumb. Just because some might not be good at history or science, it doesnt mean they arent intelligent. And if a lot of people who are really good at instruments don't do as good in school, it is probably because they put more time into their instrument than in school work.

  • Uhh I can't even hear it.

  • is that like suzuki dirt bikes

  • IT'S TOO DAMN QUITE

  • Let's record this beautiful piece with the quietest microphone we can find!

  • why are asians kids so damn good.

  • It's not because they are Asian, but because they actually apply themselves. Anyone can be as good as "Asian kids", but they choose to just throw they lives away not trying.

  • yeah! i agree that was a good point.

now i have a another qoustions why do asin people come up with most of the kick ass games we get in america? and more kick ass in asia and japan?

  • Well I don't know that. Many great games come from Asia, but there are some pretty damn good ones here in the US. I guess that's just the way things go.

  • Naw dude I think the Asianity has something to do with it also (term coined by my friend).

  • It does? Please elaborate.

  • In the same way that blacks (don't tell me saying that is politically incorrect because the term African Americans is incorrect) dominate the sports world. Your heritage, your culture, your genes influence the way you do things.

  • there's something wrong with you

  • No, it really doesn't. There is no "gene" that makes Asian kids smarter. It's just that most of them tend to actually try and apply themselves, like how blacks try and apply themselves to sports.

  • I disagree. I never said this girl was smart in all aspects either. Most musically talented people are actually dumb. And also you seem to be implying that it is purely one's aspiration that makes them achieve something. People have natural born talents, and I think it is the exception, not the rule, that people of different races/cultures/upbringings have different "natural" abilities.

  • Yes, one's aspiration actually does make them achieve something. While some kids are just smarter than others, one can still try and achieve the same level a smart kid make.

  • Wrong - musicality does not make you dumber, it rather makes you smarter, as you have to do an excessive amount of thinking all the time to play well. Play without understanding and brain and you won't ever make it past elementary music schools. Music broadens the mind. Oh and your racial points are _whack_, too.

  • Once again you're making my exceptions the rule -_- you have poor reading and comprehension skills. Did I say all musicians are dumb? No.

Savants that excel in their musical capabilities are actually mentally retarded. If you don't know what a savant is don't bitch to me about something irrelevant to our conversation, find out what it is.

How are my comments racist? The majority of the sports world IS black. That is not a negative thing, nor is it a stereotype, it is a fact.

  • Wait, you do know that the "sports world" is more than just the NBA, NFL, and short distance track, right? Cause I'm looking at long distance running, baseball, hockey, soccer, equestrian, tennis, golf, rowing, gymnastics, figure skating, skiing, cycling, auto racing, lacrosse, martial arts, softball, volleyball, curling, fencing, bobsledding, luge, snowboarding, surfing, ping pong, diving, swimming, badminton, and archery and I have to say I don't quite see the same dominance you see.

  • Of course I know that. I think a census of all sports would show a majority, not a simple majority of blacks. I could be wrong. Lets drop all this bullshit because I know that no one here will.

  • really the only main reason that musicians are "smarter" is because of the UIL's no pass no play so the kids have to do well in school ergo, they put forth effort and do stuff unlike kids that have no modivation.

  • Actually, band isn't considered a club like that. It's a class, so we can fail and still be in band. Has nothing to do with that. We just put more into our game to show off those who talk down of us.

  • lol true you should see my timpani solo

  • I didn't think think you were a musician. You must be a Zelda fan too, having ocarinas. You go to Warren High in NC?

  • warren high in SA TX

  • you are fucking retarded. sorry man, you are.

  • No one here seemed to understand what I was trying to get across, so I dropped it, because it was obvious that they wouldn't.

  • I don't exactly see how speaking in tones helps musically. Speaking higher and lower doesn't really help someone understand music theory.

The use of math in cultivation techniques by agriculturalists has been used for centuries. Ever since ancient times, the use of the calendar and predicting rainfall and seasons has been used by Americans, Africans, and Asians alike.

  • No, they excel cause they are robots who train suzuki style starting when they are a week old. Notice they only excel in performing, never in composition or improvisation.

  • the first half of the comment is partially valid. It is true that speakers of tonal languages are more apt to perfect pitch than speakers of non-tonal languages( such as English). People with perfect pitch can most likely "pick up music" slightly faster than those without. I cannot say this for sure because I do not have it.

The second paragraph is completely unrelated to this, and sounds like total bs.

  • Yea thats what I was getting at, speakers of tonal languages have a higher tendency of having perfect pitch. My roommate in college had perfect pitch and is an absolutely unreal musician. I could play a chord on a piano and he would tell me all three notes instantly. I wish I had that ability haha

The second part was in response to some other comments about Asians being "smarter." And I've read that tidbit about rice cultivation a few places, that doesnt mean its a fact, but I have read it haha

  • lol about the asians being smarter, of course it isn't true, it's a stereotype. The reason is just the teachings, many of my friends and me included have had our parents (if you're wondering, we're all asian), to dedicate ourselves:

    1. To better education to have a better future

    2. To never quit "halfway through" in anything.

and (for me) to support the parents with the hopefully better future with all the freakn work done.

  • because we all rule!

  • this is amazing.

  • TOO SOFT. ANYBODY CAN BARELY HEAR THE PARTS.PLEASE NEXT TIME GO mf not pp. ok?

  • It's not Yuki Suzuki's fault for such soft music, it's the digicam the person used to record her has a very crappy mic.

  • What piece is she playing?

  • You have to crank up the volume. Mines at max and I can barely hear her.

  • This would have been nice but... I have an extremely difficult time seeing music.

  • AM I DEAF?
