The air craft looks okay from a distance, but the shot you start out with shows neglected texture work. If you want to show an object that close to the camera, make sure it has enough detail!
kinda looks like alternate future if Nazi Germany had won WW2 and taken over Europe, this would be one of their major cities, still has that Midgar look though =P
Just wondering, I saw in earlier posts that you were at LucasFilm. Are you still there? And if so can you let us in on what you might be working on?
Your work is inspiring. I've just got Lightwave, and 3ds m, will get maya in another month, and have resigned myself to no social life for the next few years while I work at this technology. Hey it's like learning a musical instr. Not fun at first, but great once you've got some proficiency.
@NelsonStJames contract ended at lucasfilm in December. When I was in the production side I was involved with transformers 2, star trek, terminator salvation, then as an artist I touched ironman 2 but dont have any shots in the final movie.
Impressive and very creative modelling but I think you should have spent a litlle bit more time on the texture and the lightning, also the little houses could be a little bit more detailed... still impressive and please see this as constructive criticism!
I'm a bit split wether to call this steampunk or not. Or, well, would I have to put a name on it I would say steampunk, but kind of low profiled such. Perhaps post-industrialistic steampunk?
Anyway, great job. It certainly could work as the setting for a videogame or animated movie.
I don't know if you've ever read Peridido Street Station but this reminds me of the city from that book especially the railways converging on a giant building and the blimps patrolling around. Nice job by the way. Are you trying to become an environment artist or a level designer?
I love it! But maybe you could show the city on a sunny day too, and if you had people walking around that would be so awesome! If thats even possible -_-::
Oh, that was just gorgeous! The art deco stylings of that ziggaraut were very nice. Quite the imposing structure. Is your city ruled with an iron fist?
that was awsome!!! good choice of music..dark.. atmospheric.. name plz? just imagine a city like that in real life.. man i wish we built buildings like that...
I love you! This is a wonderful interpretation of steampunk! For me, the best part is that for such a gloomy place, it seems so hopeful, like a revolution's going to take place in one of those houses. I wish you could show the streets and house and people walking around, design how their clothes and cars will look. Heck, turn it into a story! Would you be will to accept my virtual cookies and icecream as a
i like this better that your first video. it still reminds me of spire, but the blimps remind me of the doctor who episodes rise of the cybermen, the age of steel, army of ghosts and doomsday.

I'd say this is more diesel than steam, but then I personally view dieselpunk as being a subcategory of steampunk.
TBAWriter 2 years ago
there needs to be more steam machinery everywhere. This is more akin to cyberpunk than it is steam punk. Great job nonetheless, though
