I've heard better *sounding* drummers (IMO Gavin Harrison takes the cake for the best playing, best SOUNDING drummer right now, in much part to Steven Wilson's fantastic production) but out of all his kits I believe Portnoy's "Awake/ACOS" Mapex Kit was his best drum kit tonally. For myself his high toms & the custom Octobans show it perfectly - made from wood as opposed to Acrylic or other non-natural source, they simply resonate more clearly and sound like "drums" and not percussion sounds.

So tecnically and correctly, this is "Drums only".

There are some drum parts which are pretty hard to understand just by listening them...THATS y people come to see him playing drums...or maybe some ppl who are not drummers just like to watch him play...and i have watched mp without sound, its still amazing
