thought they would have edited the boxer joke... considering the times Great shows, some of the funniest comedy ever on tv without the low down jokes today...
I really feel I need to redress the balance here....many talk about how fantastic PSH's portrayal of Capote was BUT watch the film 'Infamous'. I would argue that TOBY JONES(whilst not as well known nor as high profile as PSH) pulled off an even more accurate portrayal in his film. Watch it..see for youself!
I wonder if it's even conceivable in this day and age for an author like Capote to be so well-recognized that he would be invited to participate in a prime time show like this. Granted, he wouldn't be there without the strength of his personality and wit, but it's his works that gave him fame. And note he's not alone - Joe Wambaugh, another author, is also there. I SUPPOSE if Stephen King schmoozed around like Capote, he might be an on-air personality. But I think times are really different.
@adminsource I don't think she could possibly be boring with an imagination such as hers, however she lacks charisma and is painfully shy in public - which in her case, has been misconstued by some as being 'boring'.
@sleepypoodle - one hit wonder - even if it does come in seven parts. Not having screen presence and charisma - does make you boring. General public will never know her personally - and can judge by far.
She doesn't have the sparkle...
.... maybe thats why Authors are good at writing - because they can express themselves on paper by themself better.
@adminsource We'll have to agree to disagree on that one then, Robert de Niro is incredibly shy and does not interview well but he's not boring either, it seems that you judge people at a rather shallow level.
@sleepypoodle - huh? did you actually read the above comments? Or were u drunk when u wrote this.
Robert De Niro is known for his acting - He is NOT an author. The above discussion is about writers. At the level of de niro - you can NEVER be boring. Actors HAVE to be interesting - like anyone who performs in public (comedians). That is outwardly interesting.
@SSJ4Yujiro It wasnt uncommon to be openly gay in hollywood where it was more excepted than regular society. James Whale the director of Frankenstein was openly gay and that was back in the 1930s
@southernplayalistic9 Indeed. Seriously though, the man was a genius and like so many people of his caliber and intelligence his life was confounded by some nasty issues including alcholism and drug abuse. He earned his rest.
Capote was a very flamboyant eccentric man. Just the way he talked, the way he expressed himself, the way he joked, .the man was a labor of confidence. Wearing his hat, coat and shades, a mysterious figure dressed in a hat, scarf, and shades, his clothes sometimes flashy and casual hiding the genius of a brain that seemed to amaze us at times. His literary work is without doubt remarkable and interesting.
Oh please. He was definitely drunk. He was a drunkard and he drank himself to death. He was famous for turning up in public and on television drunk as a skunk.
@xander7ful He was actually drunk. He was a drunk. :) He was in and out of rehabilitation and died of liver disease/failure. He was famously drunk in interviews, etc. :) He DID talk funny though, even when sober.
@FreakSheep01 I read he was REALLY drunk, but he was such a great artist that he could still be a great guest no matter how bombed he got. That was just him. And he was great.
i was trying to watch a few videos on Truman but the Canadian speech police have banned them from being fewed by Americans. the Canadians are allways restricting free speech aren't they.

Truman Capote was so talented, smart and with such a unique personality that he was able to move through many different social milieu seamlessly.
He was a bon vivant with a taste for the good life, high life, fine wine, a bit of danger and beautiful people.
Similar to Andy W.
