I don't think it's debatable if the Earth has warmed in the last hundred years or so. The debate is whether or not it's entirely our fault. And the methane produced by cows would contribute more to greenhouse gases than the carbon dioxide from our cars btw. No we have used about 1/2 of the oil and we have used ALL of the EASILY Obtained oil. Regardless of oil is made of, or from, it takes millions of years for the process to take place. Good point. I agree that the control is sometimes overkill, but I don't believe all regulations are Big Brother tactics any more than I think that beer always leads to heroin. I'm really a centrist, a part of the radical middle who believes that there are sensible points on both sides. I just don't choose either extreme. We oscillate back and forth from ultraliberal to archconservative stances, and neither seem to to work very well. I'm on Eastern time, so I'm turning in. No hard feelings.

Why would Rush applaud those who save and manage money carefully and bash those who try to use gasoline in the same way? Why would he be the first in line to oppose a size limit on personal cars for sale in the U.S.? Is that an intrusion of American individual rights? Hardly. Changing the source of oil is a short-term economic solution. Reducing consumption is both a long-term economic AND environmental solution. Obama's fix is both fiscally conservative AND environmentally conscious.

Obama's actions ALSO include research into developing alternative sources. Just this week, research on batteries that charge in less than 1-2 minutes and produce many times the power of conventional batteries was announced. That's a big breakthrough for electric cars. I don't think it's debatable if the Earth has warmed in the last hundred years or so. The debate is whether or not it's entirely our fault. And the methane produced by cows would contribute more to greenhouse gases than the carbon dioxide from our cars btw. Also, the Earth's avg. temperature has been fluctuating for it's entire lifespan of 4.5 billion years, and there have been many times in history when it's been warmer than it is now.

No we have used about 1/2 of the oil and we have used ALL of the EASILY Obtained oil. Regardless of oil is made of, or from, it takes millions of years for the process to take place. We have used 1/2 the oil in 100years. We don't have millions of years to replace it. Not including the fact burning it destroys the planet.

If the government pays some people all the same to make a product, then the quality will be horrible. No one would work hard to make really good stuff because he would not be rewarded for it. Yes I do remember the Carter years, before Reagan closed VA Hospitals and created a class of homeless like we had NEVER known in U.S. History. All the while Reagan and puke like Rush Limbaugh were wrapping themselves in the flag.
The reason prices went down recently is because our reserves turned out to be much higher than anticipated. The fact we are using less gas is why it continues to fall. Obama's point was valid , all the oil in ANWR would last 500 days at the rate we use it.

yeah that was great before Reagan increased or national deficit more than all the previous presidents COMBINED. Gas lines were a result of OPEC, Carted learned that lesson and started the move away from oil, Reagan reversed that trend as Bush Sr whispered into his ear.
