  • I believe the final confirmed figures were 85 dead and 120 injured. A tragedy which led to many safety improvements for both drivers and spectators.

  • insane.

Saludos

  • @WatanukiF1 Pierre Levegh, real name is Pierre Eugène Alfred Bouillin

  • Czytałem o tej tragedii-zginęły 83 osoby...

  • that is horrible.

  • espectacular muerte R.I.P

  • (final)

  • is that actual footage of the crash??

  • No its animated

  • yea back in 1955 shit was wierd

    hahahha

  • The first 6 seconds, you see at least 50 people die in slow motion. Along with the air brake that decapitated a number of people, the engine, wheel, axle, and other assorted parts fly into the crowd killing more.

    The rest burned to death.

  • That's not a "just glad to be alive" look...

  • people are climbing out from under the wreckage and the bonnet at ;24

  • The piece flying at 00:02 is not the hood, it is an Air brake that Mercedes Benz used to stop the cars at the end of the Mulsanne straight. The piece disloged after Levegh hit the Austin at about 200 kph.

  • you can see the fans running from that area around the 12 second mark.

  • haha that guy at :23 is laughing??? is he not...whata saddist

  • Bouillon was his real name, Levegh was just a nickname

  • LeVeghs Mercedes hit the back of another car, then hit the bank.

  • are they dead bodies at about 00:24

  • Watching and observing the images I still can't understand how 80 people died in this accident. The audience seens far from the colision point and just some pieces of the car fly in direction to audience. Can somebody help understand that???

  • All you are seeing is the grandstands. Yes, there were people in the stands, but there were many, many people in the lounge areas, and the dining areas right at trackside where the accident occured. There were fans twenty feet away from the track eating croissants and cheese at small tables. That's where mostg of the deaths occured. That car hit and threw debris like a stone skipping off water.

  • the fireball at 16 seconds is the main chassis of the car that came to rest on the earth bank. The fans are high tailing it out of there. By that time the damage was done.

  • chances are fucking high thats them.

  • hood? thats the engine block..

  • its pierre levegh not boullion

  • Bouillon was his real name, Levegh was just a nickname, in a way ..

  • Dreadful, no wonder Mercedes pulled out after this.

  • I remember seeing this on TV, most horrifying accident apart from maybe the Tom Pryce fatal accident, but the Le Mans 1955 was far more devastating for the crowds. After this accident, Switzerland banned motor racing.

  • that was horible!

  • what are the chances

  • De verdad muy triste... por cierto Pablogcs... ES PIERRE LEVEGH!!! NO BOULLION

  • see the heads fly off with the hood

  • joderr vaya ostya

  • Holy shit!!! Worst motor racing crash ever.

  • Christ! I'm amazed the hood flew that far.

  • 80 people died on that accident..

  • how?

  • pierre levegh.. so sad

  • Tragic

  • Sobrecogedor...
