Also the GS460 has 342 HP/ 339 TQ versus the GS350's 303 HP/ 274 TQ. They're both nice, quick cars IMO. I thought the steering was way too light though when I test dove one.
Does the Lexus GS series have high maintenance and owners cost, like would I be paying over 100 dollars for minor issues ?I'm considering getting one but not if it's has high maintenance cost
@jland904 Lexus GS350 or GS460. You should buy either. Note the GS350 has the 3.5 Liter V6 engine which has 303 which is a lot for a V6 lol and gets 19 on the city and 27 on the highway. The GS460 has the 4.6 Liter V6 which has 342 horsepower and gets 17 on the city and 24 on the highway. The GS450h (hybrid) has a 3.5 liter V6 with an electric powertain. It kicks out 340 horsepower. It gets 22 on the city and 25 on the highway. I hope you take my advice. Choose wisley. See ya :)
this is a joke, right? tell me you're joking. you don't buy a lexus for the way the engine sounds or what the engine looks like. you buy it so you don't need to be concerned at all. seriously, who revs a gs350 (or any lexus for that matter other than an IS-F or LFA)?
also, I presume you have an es350. you're engines are not the same. they have the same displacement and number of cylinders, but their output and behavior are vastly different. numbers my friend, numbers.
The GS350 engine is the same, but it is mounted longitudinally, not transversely like in the Camry-Based ES350, because it is rear-drive, and the ES is front; has to make room for tranny up front.
They say it requires premium, at least the ES, due to finer tuning and more precise engineering, but saabkyle04 runs his ES350 Ultra Luxury on regular, and he says he doesn't have any problems with it. I am not sure about the GS or IS, as their V6s are finer tuned, and might need higher octane. I am not an expert, though.
well...i think the V6 in the ES is identical to the one in the camry V6..using higher octane results in slightly hp from 268 to 272...the engine diff from ES->GS is much bigger than camry V6->ES however...hmmm interesting lol
The ES engine and the RX one don't necessarily need premium. My friend's mom ran her 1999 RX300 and regular, and still averaged 24 mpg (9.7 L / 100 KM) highway. My friend's mom had a 2007 BMW 328i sedan, and it was just fine on regular. The GS and IS are the same engines, but have higher tuned engines, so they probably necessitate premium more. But the ES engine is so similarly tuned to the Camry one, reg or prem don't make that big a difference. ES and Camry are FWD, IS and GS are RWD.
The 2GR-FSE in the IS 350 and GS 350 do not require premium, they only recommend it for maximum power. The only Lexus that requires premium that I know of is the IS 250...engine damage will occur on it if premium is not used.
Also, the video poster said it has the same engine as an ES 350. That is not true. The ES has the 2GR-FE that lacks DFI and produces less HP/torque (notice the missing "S" in the name).
You got me there. I don't know why the under powered IS250 requires premium. The GS and IS's 3.5s are set up for a rear wheel drive, longitudinally mounted engine platform. The ES's engine is transversely mounted to make room for the tranny.
Awesome car! This car is on my top '3' list for sure. I might even trade my SC for the right GS as they are beautiful cars inside and out. I looked at both a new GS and IS recently and was a little disappointed in the IS250's interior. We'll see. Thanks for posting.
LEXUS uses the number as reference of the size of the engine like gs300 has an engine 3.0 lexus gs350 has an engine v6 3.5 liter lexus gs450h hasn an engine 4.5 liter hybrid the last number on lexus represents the engine size .
@saabkyle04 lol... if you watched your own video you said "this car is in the top 10 of your list" (paraphrasing) so dave11686 is asking what are the other 9 cars in the top 10 list......
@saabkyle04 Don't forget the plushness that Lexus have. They suck you in them, whereas BMWs are cars you sit in. Sitting in a Lexus is like sitting in a buck of warm wallpaper paste or being sucked into a big leather bound sofa in a family room. BMW is like sitting in a comfortable business chair in a den.
Dude I cant tell you how many of those dad-gum cars i drive all the time...DUH since I work for them! But still, id say if you want the V8, the GS460 is the way to go. And when I say go... I mean GO!! They have so much power but be advised, the gas pedal is a bit touchy but other than that, ITS AN AMAZING CAR!! Now about that price tag.....lol! Good video!
@saabkyle04 The ES350 and the GS350 have different engines. The ES350 uses a 2GRFE 3.5L 272hp V6 and the GS350 uses a 3.5 L V6, 2GR-FSE 303hp V6 engine.
Awesome car. I love how soild the doors open and shut. Beautiful inside and out.

Because nothing sounds better than a V8. Once you own one, it's hard to go back to anything less.

The 350 is more fuel efficient than the 460. I'll take a 2006 GS300 because of the fuel efficiency and the luxury stuff.

The engine in the GS350 is tuned differently than your ES, this thing really hauls though!
