It takes a lot of guts to post something on Youtube and some of the most mean spirited people I've ever encountered in my life are fellow musicians. I'll never understand that. Maybe they're just insecure. That's a beautiful Beethoven piece. I don't know much about playing the violin but I really enjoyed hearing you play. I wasn't focusing on the technique, I just wanted to hear your interpretation. Bravo to you! I hope you're still playing. I'd love to hear an updated version.

Your teacher needs a kick! Pay attention to your bow, your playing it like a cello, facing away instead of towards you. As the bow travels downwords it will turm flat towards the toe, exposing more hair when the wheight you have on the string demisihes. This will give you the smooth more toned ound you're after. Also to get a richer sound instead of the sqeeking, play into the strings, not over them. Currently its all over the place. Playing violin is 70% about your bow technique

I Like it! Nice tone. That's an especially tough piece to start because the notes are so transparent. I record my playing like that and it helps in 2 ways: 1) It lets me critique myself and 2) builds my nerves because it can be harder when you know the cam is recording you...getting you ready to deal w stage fright. Just my advise... NEVER stop playing!

This is much closer to the composer than what a lot of so-called artists and professionals offer, you just continue to move as you please and let the musical energy flow out of you through the instrument !

You have to watch your bow contact. If you hold your bow with the hair facing away from you, you greatly reduce the contact surface of the bow hair with the string, diminishing your sound quality. Your upper body moves too much as you play, further jeopardizing an already weak bow contact.

Intonation is weak. If you miss a note during practice, stop and find out what you did wrong. 3rd position shift also has a few unnecessary slides.

first comment - the music and video isn't synchronized...second - and most important, you're holding the bow like a cellist, with the stick towards you instead of away from you. This is very important if you ever want to play some of the firey showpieces that require 'spiccato', Hora Staccato for example. Otherwise, very good. You're still young and can polish up the intonation a bit. Vibrato's pretty good but needs polishing also. I speak from 50 years playing experience, starting at age 7.

I'm doing the same piece. It's actually really hard considering the musicality, the piece's interpretation ect. Most of all, your technique needs to be pure and in control. I think of this piece as a mile stone since every technique you use often makes or breaks the piece. I'm on the same boat, so don't stop trying! Look at Kyung's version too, a nice interpretation in my perspective.

Your pitching was strange, it went from pitch-perfect to very off in a few seconds or less, and then back to pitch-perfect. And again and again and again :)

but the sound you got out of that violin was really quite beautiful and like someone said, you earn 5 stars just for playing and posting. keep on practising, there's something there.

i completely agree with you!! I'm getting really tired of listening to all this crap getting posted up. Also, why would you even need to warm um? I've been playing violin for over 8 years, and i don't do any warmups of any sort. I just jump into the music.

Now for constructive criticism, i recommend holding the bow better because you look very stiff and uncomfortable and that is definitely hindering your playing. Also, make the song more expressive, because it sounds pretty flat.
