  • I thought this Rig was meant to be rolled out in 2008. Anyone know anything bout it?

  • it lowers the footprint of normal rigs surely that is a good thing. anyone have more information on this rig.

  • in canada we like to see inovation ,but you should keep that down in the states where it can do the least amount damage, best of luck for your fishing jobs.zap

  • this is stupid

  • @jaydubb85 How come you think it's stupid? Just wondering as I find it interesting.

  • @alternateblues because they can use a series of fluld powered tools at the end of the CT string. read the other comments. if the bit were to get stuck it would snap off like a twig. you need to have pipe weight, and a derrick.

  • if thay did twist the coil tubbing underbalanced while stuck your in for a problume you cant use wireline unless you cut right above it then pull the coil out of of the hole and go in with pipe ??? lol no derik whatcha going to do

  • para vestir este equipo se llevan minimo de 12 horas y una manada de equipo

  • Who cares if it rotates? U get stuck ...im bettin you gonna just twist that shit right off, alot like a driveshaft on a stuck schlumberger truck. Retarded!

  • nick? is you??!

  • Hi sam assume that you are Terry's son....

  • has anyone worked on one of these things. i've looked around on the internet but there's nothing about it. Was it ever built? if anyone has any information please let me know

  • 6 hours!!! computer iz a slave driver!! more like 12hours!!!

  • @666giroux have you worked on one of these rigs

  • Lord Darth Vader will GET THE POWER!!! And Bring BALANCE!!!!

  • A long time ago, in a galaxy far way...... LOL

  • the music put me to sleep halfwy through. Did they ever spud that thing?

  • wtf this thing looks kinda like a ride at the county fair

  • coil tubing was supposed to revolutioniz the D.J. basin but ensign 126 kept getting stuck and then they twisted off and couldent retrive the expensive experimental mud motor and bit, and even when they were running good they stiill coulden't keep up with us on a tripple conventional, stiill throwing chain. and the coil is expensive and is only good for a few holes.....ha ha ha.

  • what happens if they get stuck in the hole??? do they do a chemical cut, and bring in a real rig?

  • @patwhite010101 The big difference on this rig, compared to all other coiled tubing rigs, is that the coil is rotating, so this minimize the times you get stuck dramatically. In practice it is similar to a conventional rig, however, if you secure the BHA thread connections you will even be able to reverse the rotation in the event you get stuck. Try that on a conventional rig………….

  • @sorenholland Im a chain hand on a jack knife triple in west texas. We still throw the chain...we still pull the slips and occasionally beat the shit out of each other. I wouldn't take it any other way. Oh yeah...and I make hella coin

  • Hi Copperhead 46: The rig will work offshore as well. It is drilling with the drillstring as one drillpipe without connections.

  • may i know what software is used to make this kinda animation and modeling ? thx

  • Do they need a driller

  • @Heytays1, Yes however, he will not be spending his time on making and breaking connections.....10.000 feet of rotating drill pipe in one drill pipe

  • me gustaria ver una traduccion de esto a español si alguien sabe publiquela

  • esta interesante esto

  • Have they come out with one for offshore work?

  • @copperhead46 Hi Copperhead 46: The rig will work offshore as well. It is drilling with the drillstring as one drillpipe without connections.

  • there is a coil drilling rig in california got pics if it but its a piece of shit they always get stuck because the way the pipe bends easly, fuck coil rigs if you not throwing tongs or catching pipe on the run your not a roughneck

  • coils coil, drilling is drilling...I don't like to mix the two myself, and I have been a coil sup for 11 years.....most roughnecks aren't smart enough to run a coil unit any way, and most coil operators couldn't throw chains or tongs, and damn sure can't climb.....two great tastes that don't taste great together

  • @snotzboy, Well it always depends on the cook - If you have tasted this dish you are convinced

  • @snotzboy WELL SAID

  • @sicmaggot76

I worked on that rig back in the day, it's nabors. And yes it is a piece of shit haha. Left that shit and worked for UNOCAL.

  • @RainJetSprinklers I am sure that you refer to the Nabor´s own rig design – I haven’t seen you on any of the RRL rigs……..

  • this is all good on paper and screen...we'll see

  • this is gonna take a while to get going... it's too new and not many companies are gonna jump on this for a good while... what about perforating cementing and frac? better be some heavy duty coil.

  • But honestly, when the idea of putting a 30 60 ton real above a turn table at 30 plus ft was put from, lets say over enthusiastic mind to paper; did it not just cross someone mind, just once, that this really has gone a little too far??? But hey, thanks for the entertainment

  • More contracts awarded and more disappointing results. Then came UBD & PWD (Under balance CTD & Production While Drilling), now this really was a feather in the hat compared to the boys with the big RIG. Meanwhile certain areas of the world were having their success stories, mainly Alaska (No logistical restrictions & Canada; rinky dink shallow wells).

  • Pilot wells were cut short as the real (no pun intended) limitations became obvious; poor tubular handling, low pump rates, time, yes the time was not any quicker as expected, tensile limits etc. Back to the drawing board and along came candidate selection, it was all about finding the right wells to suite the technology, fair enough.

  • FUNNY, VERY VERY FUNNY..... I remember, back in the days of overhead slides, the enthusiasm of CTD (Coiled Tubing Drilling), the slides mentioned "Smaller footprint", faster rig up times, faster tripping speeds, no connections, boasting an overall improvement in efficiency compared to conventional rotary drilling. Contracts were awarded and we got to work.

  • hahahahaha......oops did i say that?....what i meant to say was...hahahahahaha

  • I have my doubts!! I know alot of Coil well I've completed often don't flow as well as a conventional rigs due to a washed hole. The coil is never quite straight when it is downhole so what do you think will happen when you start rotating it??? It will make the hole bigger and the coil will start to bind creating weak spots in the pipe. Is Coil that good for torsional loads??? However, I can understand the concept but it will take alot of trial and error to make it work properly.

  • Yes read the print. It Rotates. Anyone who knows anything about coiled tubing drilling knows the benefits of rotating. Sure you ran units in Middle east, and I am superman.

  • You boys are ready to drill some post holes.

  • id work on one of those rigs

  • I would love to see field results.

  • Someone is building one of these near me. It is an awesome looking thing. Looks more like a carnival ride than a drilling rig. Had I not seen a promotional video beforehand, I would not have known it was a rig.

  • 5 star***** it doesn't get any better then this........

  • The worlds first coil tubing drilling unit? I dont think so. I done under balanced coil tubing drilling for 3 years between 2003 and 2005 in the middle east.

  • hear da print..... the worlds first rotating

    coil tubin unit..........

  • No! the vid is called "the worlds first coil tubing drilling unit"

  • Very cool

  • is it useful for horizontal drilling
