  • Tony said rocky didnt want to be known as black man and he couldnt stand his ass. Now i see him on this video saying hes a good friend. WOW. Talk about great acting.

  • Just how long of a story were you going to tell the man tony (Sgt Waters)

  • Ivan Putski was a little powerhouse

  • 2:20 Putski says "rasslers". That must have been why he was turned into a jobber for the rest of his WWF career.

  • Tony Atlas talks like a real geechi! LOL I'm black, btw!

  • @Koolazzmike tony is just a good ole country boy thats all.

  • hard to believe tony and rocky didnt like eachother behind the scenes according to atlas. He said rocky johnson didnt want to be black.

  • @veeseee128 it been well documented they didn't get along george steele, gene okerlund,

and others said this they clashed big time!

  • Come see Tony Atlas THIS WEEKEND LIVE! Colonial Heights Virginia! March 26th!

  • I was 11 back then. These guys were larger than life.

  • Valentine had such poise and presence.

Putski is smaller (at that point) than Atlas and Johnson but I bet he was stronger. And they really seemed to enjoy touching each other. Particularly Putski and and Johnson. At one point I thought they were going to try and tit fuck each other.

  • @MrLuigiVampa Atlas was by far stronger than anyone in the WWF at that time. The man was legitimately bench pressing in excess of 600 lbs. at that time.

  • that is MYYYYYYYYYY birthday! Dammit Tony, we get it!

  • Wow. Putski looks tiny next to Atlas and Johnson, aka "The Soul Patrol" but the Polish Power definitely had more than enough soul to be a part of the group!

  • @RAV52 They were all so strong. 2:53 is funny as hell.

  • "that is my birthday!!" lol gotta love Atlas

  • Greg "The Hammer" Valentine should have been a champion. He was that good.

  • WWF @ New York City, NY - Madison Square Garden - April 23, 1984 (22,091)

Televised on the MSG Network and USA Network - featured Gorilla Monsoon & Pat Patterson on commentary:

Tiger Chung Lee pinned the Tonga Kid at 8:02

Rene Goulet pinned Jose Luis Rivera at 7:36 with a claw hold

WWF IC Champion Tito Santana pinned JJ Dillon at 7:46 with a dropkick and the flying forearm (Dillon's only MSG appearance)

  • The Iron Sheik defeated Sgt. Slaughter via disqualification at 8:31 when, after Slaughter hit the Slaughter Cannon, Slaughter took off his boot and repeatedly hit Sheik with the weapon until Sheik was knocked to the floor; prior to the bout, Terry Daniels, carrying the American flag, escorted Slaughter to the ring;

  • after the bout, Kal Rudman attempted to conduct a backstage interview with Sheik until Slaughter jumped the Sheik from behind, with other wrestlers then appearing to break up the fight (Legends of Wrestling Collection, Legends of Wrestling: Ric Flair and Sgt. Slaughter)

  • Salvatore Bellomo pinned Ron Shaw (sub. for the Masked Superstar) at 7:53

  • B. Brian Blair defeated Samula via referee's decision after the 20-minute time-limit had expired

WWF Women's Tag Team Champions Princess Victoria & Velvet McIntyre defeated Peggy Lee & Wendi Richter

Bob Backlund (w/ Arnold Skaaland) pinned Greg Valentine (w/ Capt. Lou Albano) at around the 26-minute mark with a roll up into a bridge; after the match, Valentine knocked down referee Dick Kroll and put Backlund in the figure-4 until Skaaland forced Valentine to break the hold

  • lmfao.. 2:53 fkin homo

  • anybody remember when backlund did the harvard steptest on the side of the ring?

just to show what kind of peak condition he was in..

    backlund =tim duncan

great skills....but the personality of a head of lettuce

  • Hi. I remember this very same interview.

My friend and I always joke around about it. That's my birthday. haha. We went to

this match too. Is the actual match on youtube? please send.

  • According to Hogan's book, Backlund refused to lose the title to him. That's why the Iron Shiek became champion since he is a real athlete and Olympian unlike Hogan.

  • putski could pass for a bro!!!!!

  • Valentine was ahead on points. Valentine was the superiror grappler.

  • What's with the guy pointing on the left of the screen at the 1:10 mark?

  • It was strange to see Bob Backlund in 1984 after he was WWF champion for almost six years! It was even more strange that he was talking about getting the title back!

  • 2 no good dogs...Shultz,Piper,and Orndorff....lol.

  • 9:00pm wow that's a late start

  • Backlund was a great amateur wrestler, but an awful pro! The man couldn't have been less entertaining if he tried. Never moved well in the ring either, too stiff and awkward, but he worked with the best for years and they made him look good. In the kayfabe days if you won most people believed you were good...watch his work today & B.B.'s doesn't hold up. He was entertaining in the 90's however.

Atlas, on the other hand, was always pure gold! Especially on the mic.

  • Bob was not only a superb amateur but was a great pro. You do not know what you are talking about-but you have to like his style of wrestling--like Lou Thesz, Karl Gotch, and Billy Robinson and Vern Gagne. No he is not a showboater like Flair.

In the 90's I did not like his character.

  • Bob Backlund reminds me of John Cena today.

  • some good mutual muscle appreciation between putski and johnson at 2:53 ;)

  • kinda gay... not that there's anything wrong with that!
