@scott90201 I'm sure your right mate.I've got a tape kicking about with all those acts on it from wembley arena think it was recorded for radio 1.I'm sure James were on the bill that night as well.
FKN CLASS THIS IS THE REAL GEMS FROM MANCHESTER,MANY PEOPLE DONT EVEN KNOW OR HEARD OF THEM BUT TO ME THESE ARE BY FAR BETTER THAN THE ROSES ALTHOUGH I DO LIKE THE ROSES AND OF COURSE THE INSPIRAL CARPETS AND DONT FORGET CANDY FLIP,WE NEED MORE OF THESE TODAY FORGET YOUR KILLERS ETC THIS IS CLASS THAT SHALL BE LOVED FOR YEARS/DECADES .
I was really disappointed when I first heard Northside, I thought they were going to sound a lot more raw and stripped down.Instead they sounded like any other wishy-washy indie popsters.
I was at their gig in the outskirts of London 1990 and it was amazing. Singer had such a great presence and used the tambourine well which made him look cool.
Loved this sound. Madchester was unpolished, honest, natural music. Loved Northside, Inspiral Carpets, Stone Roses, Charlatans, Soup Dragons, Happy Mondays. Come on the North! Grab a guitar, a keyboard, some drums and perhaps a tambourine, we can do this.....!
top tune... slightly cheesy vid though, tho i wont hear a bad word said about Northside. the 'Take Five' vid has got a bit more bollocks to it i reckon.
this is fkin ace. I'd almost forgotten how much I loved the manchester scene in the late eighties early nineties, and this lot were up there with the best.
I loved this band and especially this track , but that was diminished when I saw them live at Maine Road (Happy Mondays headlining) - I was stoned out of my nut and still thought they sounded shit live. Pity really - after that I dont think I saw of heard of them again.
Top bunch of lads who deserved more credit. I've still got Paul's old Pearl drum stool & one of his boom stands, which are featured in this video.......not on a par with a bit of Keith Moon memorabilia, but so fucking what, eh..? ;-)
apparently Dermo s (singer) ma was head of CI5 and his dad was a nuclear physisist employed by the Torys his sister was a three day eventer and his brother was an associate in the world famous law team Banks , Springett and Bonetti but they lived in a shithole in Longsight believe it or not
wot a peachy little tune... these boys werent the roses, but it was good, honest indie music from salt of the earth, workin class lads... with more soul to it than most of the shite knockin about today. still takes me away from them moody places!

c'mon. seriously are you kidding me? sounds like a parody of lost and thankfully unreleased demo of an early unreleased stone roses b-side before john and reni and mani and whatshisname came along. lame ass lyrics. painfully boring 4-chord progression. bass plays the root notes. totally wannabe.
Over emphasizing the Manc accent.Saw them at Glasgow Barrowlands when they totally forgot all their words.1990 everything revolved around the football. There was 5 of us from Celtic and we ended up giving handers to the Ayr Service Crew as they fought a running battle afterwards with Kilmarnocks mob.
lzymot - Your off your head if you think this is better than anything on Second Coming. Ok Second Coming is a totally different to the first album but it still is quality.
I don't think the Second Coming is a classic even the Roses would say as much (i thinki evenb Mani has sais they went into the studio hoping to write the songs as they were going along, which proved a mistake).. One of it's problems is that it stands against the classic 1st album, which no album could do.
I liked it at the time - but I can now see it's proper shite - then again it always was shite compared to what ws going on at the time - best thing about Northside was Granada Soccer Night.
