  • Register online, it's super easy and it's only $30 per album. Copyright dot gov

  • If the final mix of the beat ive registered is not the same mix does that matter? or should the coprighted mix material be the same as the final mix used? do you know what i mean?

  • sorry if this was answered in the video. but if I upload a snippet of a beat, is it still valid? the thing is I usually dont finish the beat because I want work with the artist on how the song is going to be arranged. so I just usually have the intro, verse, and hook.

  • does this work in the uk

  • @RenzaVEVO Idiot.. why would you send your stuff to the UNITED STATES.

  • Thank you very much for this. Very helpful :)

  • The information may be accurate as far as the written law, but if you are an average person you don't have the means to file a lawsuit or civil against the perpetrator it is a rich man's law as so slander. If you have not the money to file a lawsuit then you can't fight a case as it all cost in the end

  • Thankyou!

  • One would think that in these advanced years this could all be done online. I have very little faith in the 'Poor Mans' copyright and have hesitated to use it as an alternative to this...but I'm going to now. I'm not looking to sell or distribute my music anyway just have SOME protection in case it should accidentally fall into someone elses hands.

  • @Stantheman08221975 I did the poor mans thing, but since today there are really kick ass printers and what not, they don't hold up in court at all. They can be easily faked. Now I gotta do it legit.

  • Hey that's my song. See you in court buddy....lol Take care. Court room 115,

Monday morning at the court room, 9:00 a.m.

  • great.

  • You should check these guys out smashcopyright. they copyright music, songs and lyrics instantly. They're pretty good. Just started using em.

  • @Songwriter8484 yes but in a court of law in the united states only songs that are registered with the united states copyright office receive benefits.

  • I have two questions about this process.

    1) Do you have to be a certain age to copyright your music? If so, how old do you have to be?

    2) If I need more than one song copyrighted do I have to fill out more than one form or can I put it all on one form? Also, you said there was a $45 fee, if I copyright more than one song at a time do I need to pay $45 for each song?

Please reply, I would appreciate it.

P.S. This was a very helpful video thank you for posting it.

  • Can i still use copyright office if i live in canada

  • @coolerfive yes, they have a global copyright covering.

  • How old do you have to be to do this? i'm 14 and have composed some amazing music if i do say so myself (for my age that it) and i would hate it if someone records any of my songs from one of my youtube vids! can someone please repply( oh and check out my songs please, i really like feedback:)

  • You can have numerous tracks on a cd and it'll still be 45 dollars. That 45 dollars is going towards that entire project.

  • For that $45 can i copyright more than one beat? as in sending them a cd with multiple tracks? or is it $45 per a piece?

  • You are a blessing, this is helpful :)

  • how do you no when they receive it ??

  • Oh legit.

Would they mind if "house sounds" and voices are in the background?

  • Okay. I just performed, recorded and mastered my own album at my home studio. I want to use the "zip file" method for filing, but what forms do I fill out, the PA or SR? I am VERY confused about the process and I think I am about to have a MASSIVE anxiety attack.......your time and effort would be greatly appreciated;)

  • @12risingmercury

Isn't it sad that we even have to go through this process?

It is utterly repugnant to me. It's like our music is a cow and we have to mark it with a hot poker brand so no cattle rustlers steals it.

I am repulsed by the whole thing.

  • @batfly .....EXACTLY....PERFECTLY STATED!!!!!!!......I MEAN, INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY IS INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY!!!!!

  • @batfly those of you who dont think that copyright is a good thing are wrong, try to look at it from this point of view: you write a book, produce a song, create a movie, what have you....and then someone steals your work, its really gonna suck because you put time, thought, effort into it, and now its gone, because now you have no one to back you up or defend you....so thatts when the law comes in and gives you a hand, by presenting lawful paperwork and material proving you are the mastermind..

  • @batfly me to but i still dont want to have my music stolen

  • Repulsed? Seriously? It's not just about stealing other's music, it's about getting compensation for your own music.

  • @BCarrollMusic

It's like selling tickets so others can watch you make love to your wife.

  • @batfly am a published writer and i totally agree-one of my very pet peeves and so what!-it will never go away--grit and bear it-

  • thank you so much this was extremely helpful.

  • Alot of people have asked this question and I cant find an answer: Is that $45 for each individual song or can you copyright as many songs as you want for that price?? Please get back to me. Besides that confusion, great vid! Thanx

  • @Alex1234564 the few for filing online is actually $35 dollars now and $35 can copyright from r songs to up to as many tracks as you put in, if you go to copyrights (or copyright) .gov look up sound recordings & the limit of megabytes (mb) usage as to see how many songs you can add, and also, when sending out your music make sure that all of your tracks is in a zip file format in order to send out to get copyrighted in the future. If you need more help just shoot me a pm.

  • how do i copyright my name?

  • @xWiredTx you would need to do that as an "trademark", I'm not 100% sure but I think a trademark is use to register your business name or music production name.

  • $45 for a collection of songs??? is there a limit to the number of songs you can submit at one time?

  • thanks for the info

  • thanks bro for the info ,peace and god bless.

  • what if you used samples in your beats form other artist and didnt want anybody to use that idea of that sample?

  • @BIGSABMUSIC Thats exactly what I wanted to know haha

  • @BIGSABMUSIC if you had used samples from oldies & such then you will need to clear the samples, or...as some folks do, make sure that the original music label/artist hear their sample in your music, cuz that can open up a whole lot of legal troubles, but play it safe though & do what you feel is best lol.

  • Is that $45 a song, or is it that much for an entire CD?

  • @Skicolorado75 the price is $35 if you file online and that will cover a whole cd.

  • i sent them my music ... how long does it take for me to know everything worked ?

  • @unodaproducer once you sent in your work then your music will already be copyrighted from the date that you had sent your music out. Now in about five to six months you will get a "certificate of registration" from the copyright office, make sure that you keep that certificate in a safe place for that will be your proof that you are the owner, and also make sure to write down your "registration number" for your works in a safe place. If you have anymore quedtions just shoot me a pm.

  • If you want to know how to copyright your Beats , NIP Productions gives a detailed step by step explanation in how do it the easiest way - which is online. and all of your questions answered in this 2 part video here on youtube, just type in --How To Copyright Your Music. (Part 1 of 2) on the youtube browser. This is a must-see tutorial.

  • Do you have to be a US citezan to do this?

  • do u have to pay everytime u want to copyright somthin...and when u do it online does ur music get copyrighted faster....cuz im a lil confused

  • @PrinceLilSky when you copyright more stuff you do have to pay the $35 online fee, and the date in which you copyright your music is the date that you "own" the copyrights, so the date you send in your music will be the date that you own your copyrights.

  • question bro. now is that just to copyright just one song or you can copyright as many for that price?

  • thanks

  • your the man thanks a lot

  • So I can copyright all me beats with one form and only pay 45 for the app fee

  • @CatalystMusik

    35.00 USD if filed online

    50.00 USD by US mail.

Note: Unless your beats are in a unique sequential order, your Copyright is not very effective.

  • @LogicStudioMadness

Note: Unless your beats are in a unique sequential order, your Copyright is not very effective

    what do you mean exactly?

  • @2u9h, the music industry share thousands of common beats, best thought of as public domain beats. Example: 3/4 boom tap tap, boom tap tap.

Country music is a great example, as 99% of all country music share the same basic beat, thus we cannot copyright it and expect to be able to successfully defend it in a court of law.

  • thank you so much man! :D:D:D

  • thanks man.. i got a question wat if i recorded ova somebody else beat like for a mixtape how to i get my part my lryics copyrighted

  • THANK YOU

  • can I copyright more than 1 song on a form or is it 1song 1 form 1 fee. I heard you can copyright several at once but I'm lost

  • @evilmfer (i need the same answer, this is all confusing) lol

  • thats cool thanks bro. by any chance do u know how u copyright a website. if u do please get back to me :)

  • awesome. thanks!

  • Wait so you have to pay 45 dollars for EVERY SONG you make, or just one?

  • @Ao3xPB $35 online in a zip format, meaning that all your music you put in a folder and converted it to a zip format will be copyrighted. So lets say that you want to copyright 10 songs, if you put those 10 songs in a folder and then change the folder to a zip format (in order to file the music on the online copyright website), then that $35 will cover all 10 songs.

  • I'm from the UK, do i send stuff to the same address or do i keep it local?, (the UK)
