this was on sinimax pax and the anime chanel back in 2003-4-5 they only had the 39 english dubs then they stopped. the most bad ass anime i had ever seen. kenshiro is the most unstopable walking force. when he meets the south star guy then it starts to get really insane.

The English accent of the narrator in this intro is fantastic. His voice reinforces the deeper biblical aspects that made this series such a classic. Very poetic and dark. And that very simple ever-present back beat that plays in the background as he talks adds a very ominous apocalyptic element to this intro as well. This is a very cool intro. This is such a thought provoking anime. One of my all time favorites. It's like the Star Wars of martial arts tales. Just perfect.

I believe it was actually something the anime writers made up before the manga introduced Ken's four brothers. I'll probably need to check the raws/subs again to see if they mention it.

Hokuyo no Ken differs in terms from violence in the anime and manga. The anime is edited because, well because they think exploding flesh and blood is a bit too much. But still it is a great series and one of my favs.

This is one of my favorite cartoons, but it's not a cartton fit for a small children to watch at 5 in the evening. They use to air this violent cartoon with red blood on it first, can you believe it!? Japanese PTOs revolted of course. This is a promo clip for Manga Video's dub of the series (you can tell by the drum and bass soundtrack). Unfortunately, Manga Video didn't handle the series very well and it shows by this completely misleading clip. They essentially talk about the premise of Season 1 (the Shin/Bloody Cross arc), but most of the clips they show are from the early Season 2 episodes (i.e: talking about Shin while showing clips of Jagi and Amiba).
