  • Dear God. I could die happy listening to David saying the word Earth over and over. :)

  • Best voice ever! (for me :D)

  • If Tennant were at the top I'd do it. Mind you I hate cold and heights with a fiery passion. XD

  • When listening to this I can't think about much other than the amazing person who is reading over.

  • David Tennant should direct, produce, write and narrate documenteries. He is cool!

  • id love to give it a go!!! the thought of standing on top of the world and looking down at the himalayas for miles and miles all around... that kind of shit you dont see every day, i think itd be worth it! :D

  • What a great voice.

  • David Tennant!

  • one out of 15 or 50 will die trying!?!?! what number did tennant said? but really you have to be a little crazy to go up. it takes some guts that i don't have. : )

  • It kills me that the woman at 0:38 is treating frostbite on Everest...and she's wearing SHORTS! WTF? Still - not an easy job.

  • I want to know how this hospital is funded.Surely the climbers must make a contribution towards its running costs?

  • There must be a massive fee to be able to put your life in peril... yeah, that makes a lot of sense! Or maybe they bill them later... you know, if they don't DIE! LOL!

  • @Tiddybeth I know this is belated but I love this series and have watched it many times on here. I climbed Everest this year and visited the clinic when I became seriously ill. The doctors only charge at basecamp if you are out of hours, when it's about $100. In the Pheriche clinic it was $50 for a consultation plus extra for medications. For locals it was only about 50p for a consultations though. The doctors are all volunteers. A lot of the funding is from the HRA charity.

  • @smilingbex Thanks for letting me know ,very interesting :)

  • 36 y. o. Dr Suzanne Boyle :) in DT's voice on the everest - couldn't get better!

  • Thank you for posting

  • David's voice is amazing but why would someone want to do something like climb a mountain? I have a fear of heights and would never do that.

  • just thinking about walking across a hanging bridge makes my hands sweat! ...and yes, it is amazing! very soothing and pretty hot, too! guess that soothing feature is what makes him such a wonderful narrator. Words like earth, doctor/s, thousand/s, mountain/s, miles... i could fall asleep listening to his voice. *sigh*

  • I love listening to him do the Doctor Who audio books. :) But, going back to the show, I couldn't imagine doing something like that. More so with the lack of air and the pressure.

  • Exactly!! As if it wasn't bad enough that you're... oh, i dunno... CLIMBING A FREAKIN' MOUNTAIN then there's the tiny detail about NO OXYGEN!!! Talk about needing to do crazy sh*t to get a natural high! Geesh! But still, I do admire their determination.

  • The base camp is 3 miles above sea level! Coloradoans live a mile above sea level (5280 ft) at least, I grew up at 7500 ft so I suppose we have better trained lungs but, how can anyone breathe at 3 miles or more above sea level! It is amazing that anyone can climb Everest and survive!

  • Thank you!! We climb 14,000 ft mountains here in Colorado and that is dangerous enough for me. It is amazing to be that high on the Continental Divide, like nowhere else but what Everest has to offer simply is not worth the extreme risk for me.

  • Always coming through for us across the pond! You rock! I could listen to DT read a freakin' phone book and enjoy it! ;)

  • GASP... earth!! i love the way he says earth!!

  • I loved how he said Doctor. He has a great accent.

  • Thanks for posting. Very cool. Would've liked even more on the medicine. David's such an amazing narrator.

  • Thanks very much for posting this! As always, it's appreciated. I have to say, I SOOOO fail to feel sorry for these people. I think of sick people or murdered people who would have given anything to keep their lives, and these people intentionally put themselves in harm's way. :P Sorry, just really rubs me the wrong way.
