I just don't know if that word implies that he is doing it for money, as the term suggests. Where an artist is making art and that is their focus, there just happens to be a camera in the room. Quite the opposite, him and his band mates are all amazing musicians and they put together quite a complex musical tapestry. However, it is never done in the hopes of wowing the listener with their chops alone. It's always in service of the song. it has always been that way, but today it is happening to a much greater extent. Back in the 60's and 70's you could hear great bands who made music with heart and soul like. That is almost unheard of today. What we need is songs with heart and emotion on the radio, but that's rarely heard of today. I don't really have anything against pop as a genre, there are som great pop bands today ( later period Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tegan and Sara etc) but there are way too few of them.
