Again, the Producers of this show are sooooooooooooooooooo cheap! They cut Sgt. Carter singing "You ought to be in pictures" to the woman who walked by his booth. They didn't want to pay the royalties. And it made the scene much funier.
recruitment was really good in those days, for the Navy and Airforce, since they decided to enlist before they got drafted, Mostly because they weren't as likely to end up in Vietnam. The Navy tried to recruit me 1 time, the guy came to talk to my stupid nephew and I was just visiting, when he saw me he forgot about that nitwit, and thought I was gonna be dumb enough to join, lol I told him I can't even swim, and he said, oh that is the 1st thing u learn, lol yea right !!!
@555paint oh dude I was talking about the smart guys would join airforce and Navy, and I guess Marines, but draftees went in the Army. I wouldnt have gone to Vietnam I am female. I had a good job, but the Navy could top any job I could get. okey dokey I don't think so, don't like wearing uniforms.
@debzeppeliniv ah yes i see what you mean--one might join the USN or USAF rather than risk draft and end on the ground in Vietnam--gotta ya. My brother did that--joined the USN rather than take a chance on being drafted into army.
@555paint lol smart guy yep, not everyone had the money to go to college then, you got deferred so smart ones, joined AF or Navy, and brave and crazy ones the Marines.
I guess to get ahead in show business back in the sixties and early seventies you had to be some sort of Head. A Meathead or a Knucklehead, which are the nicknames of Reiner and Nabors characters. Meatheads character on AITF ended up leaving Gloria because he felt the world was too political, too militaristic, to Wall Street. So, Archie was right about his initial suspicions of Mike Stivic, he was just a bum who din't amount to much and didn't want responsibilities. He used Archie! Malik Jubal
Surprise Surprise Surprise .. then the look on carters face lmao

The place where they have the recruiting booth looks familiar, I think it might be down town Burbank.
