yes, they are in the same shooter genre, but if you compare both games side by side, you'll see that timeshift is set far in the future and this game is boring and modern. ( i am not saying call of duty 4 is bad) the timeshift gameplay seems more interesting and realistic. the aiming in here you can see that when you aim there is no kick to the gun. in timeshift, there is massive kick and therefore adds more realism.
Realism seriously? There is no such thing as a realistic FPS. Some are more realistic than others, but I laugh when people try and say a game has more realistic gun physics than another, because no game has realistic gun physics.
Timeshift is a sci-fi shooter, SoF is an arcadey modern FPS (as in not even in the same classification as CoD4). Furthermore, how realistic is it to be able to rewind time, and stuff?

OMG, I play both PC games, and console games, so PC snobs are annoying. The aiming isn't a big deal from consoles or PCs. Yes, the mouse is more accurate, but no matter what system you play it's important to hone your skill on whatever control device they offer.

I love FPS 's and can't understand why this game got such a kicking. The graphics look fine and the gameplay looks fun. COD4 is the pinncle of all First Person Shooters but I reckon I might pick this one up. I played the last SOF game which came out on Xbox about five years ago and that was a winner:-)

If you're someone who's over-saturated with Call of Duty 4, and expect every FPS you play to be CoD4, then you'll probably hate it, but for those who don't mind a little bit of an older approach to FPS games, it's not a bad game at all.
I'd say just watch as many vids of gameplay as you can find and then decide for yourself on the matter.
Mine was like $90. i got it as a birthday present. It's a Dazzle Capture card. There are some other out there. You may want to shop around, because you can probably find them for cheaper. I got mine from Best Buy, but ebay or amazon may be a better place to pick one up from.

The game is simple fun. Don't go in expecting Call of Duty 4, and you won't be disappointed.
In fact, the game is more like a throwback to the arcadey shooters of the past. Not much for story, or scripted scenes, just going through the levels, and killing s*** like in the old days. They give you the level filled with hordes of bad guys and say "Have at it."
That's what I enjoyed most. It was a nice change of pace.

Unfortunately, no it's not. It's more like the oldschool shooters where there's not much for story, of other flash, and you have to accomplish objectives in each level.
It's kinda got a throwback feel to games like Goldeneye where it's a level based/objectives based shooter as opposed to a game like COD4 which relies more on driving the story forward through scripted elements.
Another thing for all you "gun experts" out there, here's something that you probably though was another wrong thing about the gun realism in the game, but it's really not. Notice how the guy reloads. He just puts a clip in and doesn't chamber a round if you reload mid magazine. Other game have the guy chambering a round every time, but in real life you wouldn't need to if you reloaded when a round was still in there.

Noooo way COD4 is overrated. It may be short but it boasts good graphics and a involving storyline and a good musical score. It also won a GAME award for the best game of 2007. I'm looking forward to COD5!!

I love FPS 's and can't understand why this game got such a kicking. The graphics look fine and the gameplay looks fun. COD4 is the pinncle of all First Person Shooters but I reckon I might pick this one up. I played the last SOF game which came out on Xbox about five years ago and that was a winner:-)

Reviewers are idiots who just compared it to CoD4, and it's not trying to be CoD4 and isn't really comparable.
F*** what the reviewers said. They're idiots who don't know good games anymore. Back in the day you could trust a lot of the reviews, but nowadays, I find most reviewers to be idiots.

You have the option to play either way. I'm playing with the gore on, but you can turn it off in the options screen.

I think so. If they have the game in your country, it's probably the edited version. I know that Australia tends to ban a lot of violent games.
In the American version, you can turn the gore on and off. If there is and Aus version, it's probably edited assuming that it's not completely banned all together.

Well, if graphics alone made a game good or not, then that statement may have some point.
But, seeing as it's a game's gameplay that makes it good or not, I guess it really doesn't matter what the graphics look like.

If you're someone who's over-saturated with Call of Duty 4, and expect every FPS you play to be CoD4, then you'll probably hate it, but for those who don't mind a little bit of an older approach to FPS games, it's not a bad game at all.
I'd say just watch as many vids of gameplay as you can find and then decide for yourself on the matter.

I use a video capture card. Try looking it up on youtube to see everything you'll need in order to use one.

Mine was like $90. i got it as a birthday present. It's a Dazzle Capture card. There are some other out there. You may want to shop around, because you can probably find them for cheaper. I got mine from Best Buy, but ebay or amazon may be a better place to pick one up from.
You also need stereo splitter wires. If you look up a vid on youtube they should explain everything you'll need.

Anyways, Payback doesn't have a whole lot of people playing it. There are at tops two games going on online for it, so it's a very small number of players.

The game's pretty cheap now, so I'd say go for it.
The game is simple fun. Don't go in expecting Call of Duty 4, and you won't be disappointed.
In fact, the game is more like a throwback to the arcadey shooters of the past. Not much for story, or scripted scenes, just going through the levels, and killing s*** like in the old days. They give you the level filled with hordes of bad guys and say "Have at it."
That's what I enjoyed most. It was a nice change of pace.

I'm not the biggest fan of CoD4. I'm damn tired of the overly-scripted gameplay in first person shooters nowadays, and CoD4 did nothing in that department to change my mind. It's MP is fun, but I can't stand CoD4's single player.
The scripted stuff just drives me apeshit batty. i want to play a game how I want to play instead of constantly being told how to play.

Unfortunately, no it's not. It's more like the oldschool shooters where there's not much for story, of other flash, and you have to accomplish objectives in each level.
It's kinda got a throwback feel to games like Goldeneye where it's a level based/objectives based shooter as opposed to a game like COD4 which relies more on driving the story forward through scripted elements.

Another thing for all you "gun experts" out there, here's something that you probably though was another wrong thing about the gun realism in the game, but it's really not. Notice how the guy reloads. He just puts a clip in and doesn't chamber a round if you reload mid magazine. Other game have the guy chambering a round every time, but in real life you wouldn't need to if you reloaded when a round was still in there.
