1) its the railroad museum of pennsylvania, not the prr museum. theres other railroads displayed in the museum besides the pennsy. 2) the strasburg railroad isnt affiliated with the railroad museum of pennsylvania
The railroad crossing between the museum and the train depot is marked as abandoned on the crossing sign posts. Besides the museum access, what else do they use that part of the line for and how far does it go?
@daltonauto Yeah! The Strasburg should think about gettin that one running for their trains! That would a great edition to their collection. Plus if you ask me, that M1a only needs maybe some internal work to get it running!
interesting, old video though, 475 and 89 have recently had their head lamps changed and i believe whistles. also the "hello dolly" car is not yellow anymore. i liked it more this way.
Do they ever run these trains on the rails? If the don't it's a shame cause they're beautiful machines and it's a part of Pennsylvania heritage. Thank you for the video, it is great
Nice sampling of museum exhibits, good camera angles, quick shots hold viewer's interest. Good shots of Strasburg's working steam. I visit every fall on my way to Train Collector's Associations (TCA) semi-annual meet in York Pa. Well Done.
I loved this place more then steamtown! One of best places to just go see good looking equipment and lots of it in one place, changed a bit in the past few 3 or 4 years. I wish we could get all them old passenger cars out and do like the AOE but all over the old PRR. I would have to make my way back from WA,st for that.
what i loved on the strasburg is the hello solly in yellow with the 2 door entrance. i also liked the Indian Valley car and the open cars painted yellow.
the 2846 steam locomotive, i remember the last time i was at strasburg and prr museum. we visited the museum, and it was cool that you could go up in the 2846 and pull the throttle and brake levers and stuff. too bad i could made an action video using recorded sounds from my phone of steam.
attention, attention please. train 25 pennsylvania's broadway limited. now departing for altoona, pittsburgh, phildelphia, chicago and all points west. BOARRRRRRRRRRRRRRD!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought that the Pennsy had a museum but this is a gr8 video. my uncle used to work maintenance on the Pennsy yrs ago back in Ohio and this brought back memories.
What a nice little video. The museum trains are so dead and cold, it was nice to wrap them in and opening and ending of the living, steaming Strasburg RR across the street from the museum. I've been there. You did a nice steady job of it.
When the bell rings the bell doesn't move.

I just wanna restore all those locomotives and run em. Except 7002 and 1223, their fate is sealed.
Jared1452 1 year ago
@Jared1452 They have been running successfully before, and I doubt it would take much to bring them back to specs...

When did Strassburg get that M1a or is that a J1a I can't tell. Maybe I didn't notice it when I last visited.
Jared1452 1 year ago
@Jared1452 In 1991, and it's a Norfolk & Western M class.

Conrail is still there. They do have what looks like a Penn Central GG1 setting outside without the PC logo.

Wow they remove the trains? it must be a nightmare doing that LOL

do they still have a Conrail inside the museum on display?
Guser223 2 years ago
