  • naturally different people are going to find certain languages easier to learn than others; spanish people find english easier to learn than german because of a great deal of shared vocabulary, but dutch people find english easier to learn than italian because of grammar and vocab. generally however, it is acknowledged that english has the tendency to become exceptionally complex for learners when it comes to discussing subjects which are not 'every-day', in comparison to other big EU languages.

  • I will not offend frech chauvinism, british nationalism and german revanche...so I'll say that the official europe language must be language of gestures with hands and body!!!

  • The only common language should be english. It's the most spoken and studied language in Europe. It's the latin of XXI century. It's correctly spoken in Scandinavia, Netherlands and german countries (Germany, Swtizerland and Austria), It's widely studied and spoken in whole Eastern Europe and Balcanic countries. Only stupid french people are against the use of english language as common language for their idiot and ridicolous chauvinism.

  • @deepenhancer German is the most spoken language in Europe, not English, in terms of native speakers. More European countries have French as an official language than English. English is an exceptionally difficult language to effectively master. There is no reason why, if possible, a simpler language cannot be used universally. The lingua franca changes from time to time. English will not forever dominate. Arguably, the current linguistic climate creates chauvinism amoung English speakers.

  • @soloasdubh I speak a little german and I find more difficult than english. German is hard to learn. English is easier.

  • @deepenhancer It's true. I believe German is even more complicated than French, given the fact that there are three genders in German and two in French. I might be wrong though.

  • @ubuntuforever German is like latin. It has declinations, cases and a lot of grammar rules. For a romance speaker (like french, italian or spanish) it's very hard. It's more easy english which is both germanic and latin and has many words of romance origin.

  • @deepenhancer It might be the most studied language in Europe, but that does not mean it is appropriate for international communications. In fact, I believe there would be less misinterpretation or misunderstanding if people were to learn Esperanto as their second language. It is simple and fast to learn and is very flexible and cost effective. The pronunciation of words never changes. I am Canadian and I believe in esperanto as the future international language.

  • @deepenhancer I never said that I did not like the english language. I only have a problem with the fact that English has been imposed to the world only because of political and economical matters. Given your spelling level, I believe that I have more consideration for the english language as you do (not to sound rude in any way). You may think Esperanto is a ridiculous language, but it is not. In fact, it is a rich language that, I think, deserves as much attention as any other languages.

  • @ubuntuforever Well, in northern europe people speak fluent english as in southern europe (with the exception of my country). Why must they learn another language that does not exist and that is invented? Why speaking a stupid language? I like a lot english it's more flexible than french/german and more easy to learn. English has not been imposed, but it's the business/science language. That's all. Everyone can choose to not learn english

  • @deepenhancer "...people speak fluent english as in southern europe"

    LOL ;-D

Only in the northern Europe, South Africa, India, USA and Australia people speak English fluently. All the rest of the world try hardly to say some easy sentences, but only a few in a million have relative success.

  • @oksigeno I don't think so. In Greece people can handle a conversation in english. Same in Malta. Only italian and spanish are hard to speak english.

  • @deepenhancer Some of they can handle a "conversation" like a retarded 3 year old child, and after many years of study and lots of money.

  • @oksigeno Are you talking about yourself? About your own experience?

  • @deepenhancer I am talking for exemple about my experience, because I was always the best in English in my class. Concerning the most people I know they simply studied for years for learning nothing, is ridiculous ;-)

  • @oksigeno So what's the solution?

  • @deepenhancer The only real solution I know is modernize the global communication with a language that really works and respect people and not only a little elite. That was what calligraphy made many years ago, like English and another native languages make nowadays - make a mediocre patch for a few have access to global culture . When the press was invented I guess the same resistance to its adoption. I experimented the same resistance about internet years ago, or ecology, for example.

  • @oksigeno English is the solution.

  • @deepenhancer Circular arguments are silly and I don't discuss that.

  • @deepenhancer In the enterprise I work the engineers, all with many years of study and practice in many countries can handle a "conversation" too, but they actually don't speak English, they speak "Portuguenglish", like: Hélo, I spike Englis véri uél, huuuuuu... but... but.... huuuuuuuuu... I fink... I fink I spike englis uél... huuuuuuu...

(Thanks Google Translator for help me in this little comment. Without you I could not handle this -- yes, I studed for years, but...)

  • @ubuntuforever Ubuntu + Esperanto = <3 ;-)

  • @Skotanax Oui, tu as raison =). J'avais une passion pour l'espéranto pendant un moment, mais je n'ai plus la motivation afin de persévérer à l'apprentissage de la langue, malheureusement =(

  • @ubuntuforever Mi uzas Kubuntu en Esperanto :)

  • @deepenhancer "Only stupid french people..." That's why you don't believe in Esperanto... You're a stupid racist.

  • @Skotanax No one learned esperanto, but many people speak and learned english. Esperanto is a dead language, english not.

  • Mi komencas lerni esperanto... Mi pensas estas bona ideo! :)

    (désolée pour les fautes... ^^)

  • Mi ŝategas, kiel la franca sonas! :)
