Glad to see you got it fixed and at relative low cost. Japanese parts ironic indeed but still i prefer Japanese parts over American parts in these cars and trust me: there are plenty of them in it!
It looks like the body processor module is about to give way, sadly a very expensive part.
It is responsable for almost every lighting in the 308 and is located behind the glove compartment.
Check the VIN before installing a new or used one, they are not all interchangable. If possible get one from a ’99 X308, i believe that is the same year as yours?
You could also try a "hard reset", take off the pos and neg battery poles and connect them together for about 20 mins. Good luck!
@Zeehoer Thanks for that, in this case it turned out to be the voltage regulator on the alternator, it was putting out 17v at idle (even with everything switched on) & 18.1 volts above 1000rpm. Luckily it seems no long term damage was caused.
It is slightly ironic that this, the first part to fail on my British Jaguar in the years I`ve owned it, is a Japanese part! (NipponDenso)
