i had this guitar, loved it, played the fuck outta it then smashed it at a show. it has amazing action buttttttt imma have to say that cheap "floyd" or in other words the ibanez edge tremolo is terrible. i broke it, completly. dive bombs. if its not a original floyd its trash. the mayple neck is sweet tho. check our a jackson rr24m. thats a treat =]
@lambofgodrules1000 I like my RG350MDX, but really it's just a matter of preference. The maple fretboard makes the sound bite a bit more and rosewood is a little warmer, that's all :)
The tremolo Edge III has a bad reputation, but who cares. I think I'm getting this guitar soon. I'm tired of looking and looking for the perfect guitar (for my low budget)
@soullessSiIence then stop looking and buy it!!! haha just make sure to throw in some dimarzios. and if this makes you feel a little more comfortable, the edge III can be pretty good if you set it EXACTLY right. intonation and all. but remember, its not a floyd rose so it doesnt get set parallel to the body. theres a harder way to tell the exact angle needed but the easiest is to make the part that has "ibanez" written on it parallel to the body.
Nah. Same as basically any other floating trem bridge. If you're THAT worried about tuning stability, you should get a fixed bridge, or get some locking tuners on top of the little locking nut that comes with this one. One thing I do, is tune both e strings, then the a, then the b, then g, then the d string.
You're gonna have a hard time if you're tuning and detuning between songs and such, but if you detune, then you can set it up pretty easily for that tuning. It's a pain, I admit. You'd probably be happier with a normal bridge, or a nonfloating trem. You won't be able to pull up on the bridge though. that's the only drawback of not having a floating.
check... it is floyd rose tremollo with string locks... tho it is in the "cheap class", it can take alot of "wham" without getting out of tune. i use it all the time. you will love it for its prize. use it alot and you will have to tune once in a week ;) (which obvioustly isnt much)
Hi, I have this exact guitar. I have never owned a guitar before and was wondering if you could make a video on how to tune it. My d string is way off. I'm aware it requires unscrewing things. I am in dire need of a video on how to do it. If you made one showing how to tune this exact guitar I would be very VERY thankful. Thanks so much.
@RedAroundTheEdges I don't see a problem with that, I have some new strings on order, case + 2 of 11-48 Ernie balls, Once they get here I will show the process I use to down-tune the guitar the proper way insuring proper tension.
@RedAroundTheEdges It isnt hard to tune a guitar, some people can tune a guitar by ear and some can't. Personally I can't so I have a tuner. Theres lots of different types. You can probably pick a decent one for £15. Your strings in standard tuning should go E-A-D-G-B-E (from the lowest note to the highest) if they're not in that order when you tune them they're they're out of tune. So you turn the pegs at the top until you hit the right note. I can now do it in about 20 seconds.

cool, thanks. I think its the cable I'm using its this crappy $5 cable i think i need a better one and the one i have now is old and not very well taken care of lol
Yeah a better cable will help a lot, also if you put a little bit of tin foil on the inside of the door that goes to your wires and everything will help insulate (so to speak lol) AND things around you CAN effect your amp a little. For some reason my amp gets real staticy when my TV is on *shrugs shoulders*
nice playing dude :D... but man can i ask if changing pickups would work?... cause i've had a few people tell me that because of the maple neck changing pickups would be very bad :(
Thanks much for kind words! Not not at all, changing the pickups, depending on the pickups are going to give you more expressive tone. The maple fretboard is just a little brighter overall than rosewood. It's not hard to get the sound you want from this guitar :)
i'm getting dimarzio evo or deactivator if i don't get an EMG active in the bridge... i like the neck pickup's clean and lead tone though so i'm most likely not gonna change that :)
i have the mdx and i'll tell you that it's pretty great in terms of tuning stability but there's one little thing that may bother you... you have to pull up the whammy after bends/dives because the bridge would dive flat a quarter tone... and you can't play stuff that would have one string bended and a second string not bended at the same time :(.. the not bended string would dive flat and the other would bend sharp which sounds very disgusting :(

Ibanez to the veins, dude,I'm a raving hardcore metalhead, so as I read, Ibanez is the right pick. I'm not sure I would leap directly to 500$ range but definitely its gonna be Ibanez.
one more thing, do you think learning electric guitar ,all by yourself ,starting off the pre-baby level is a doable thing??
deffinately its how i learned, honestly you just gotta really want it and get addicted basically youll suck at first but built with basic chords like i first learned g maj c maj and d maj (google helps) just learn how to switch up chords faster get a decent understanding of what your strings are like eadgbe learn tab and get decent i started to take lessons after i had been playing for a year and a half its really only worth it if youre learning theory everything else you teach yourself
The bridge is an edge 3 floating tremolo. its good for the first 6 months, then it goes to shit. its best to get a guitar with an edge pro bridge on it, or buy this guitar and replace the bridge, thats what i did.
actually it might just be dulling of the knife edge which caused the problems you have experienced with the edge III. It is a common problem on the new Ibanez trems including the Edge Pro. some even have quite dull knife edge from the factory, so if you did not check the edge out, you should have. Just some penny-saving advice, for others who might think of replacing the E-III after reading your post. The Edge III is a proper trem, though inferior in features to the Edge Pro
everyone ive talked to has replaced their rg bridges with edge pros. They all said the same thing, edge iii ware out when you use it too much. and you cant replace the knife edges after they dull out. you have to replace the bridge or put some wood blocks on both sides of it to make it a fixed bridge.
Hi ! I'm sorry to bother you, but I'd like to buy an Ibanez guitar and the RG series look/sound real cool... What should I do about the Tremolo ? I'm on a budget, mind you: I can only spend up to 500 Euros. What should I do ? Oh, just one thing: I'd like a read good temolo and two octaves by string. Thanks for your patience ;)
well, that can go one way. The neck is a 2 octave wizard 2 neck (24 frets). And they way you want your bridge is based solely on how you adjust it. I wouldn't recommend an edge 3, you should go for a ZR
No they aren't bad at all, It's just that other pickups out there can get a better tonality then stock pickups, Like the Dimarzio/Seymour duncans etc... Just adding an extra punch and get every tonal nuance avaiable from the guitar :)
It's just alternate picking, I started by alternating my picking through major scales both down and up, it will definitely build good dexterity and faster picking!
have you ever problem like mine: every 2 days g string breaks in the same place (0,5cm from the bridge). it hapens last 6 or 7 days(i have this guitar for 9 weeks). never have problem like that (with my rg 2570 never as well). is it something with the bridge or is it a coincidence? help. peace.
don't do that I had a friend that replaced the pickups on a similar guitar with EMG's and it didn't turn out very well and he sold them in about 2 weeks, he then tried dimarzio and it worked out better but different people, different opinions you know how it is
I personally have a very shitty guitar so I guess I'll never have to upgrade thank god for this blessing :) also it wouldn't be much of miss if I smash it in the ground
question i want this guitar i caus ei don't want to put my jem through the abuse of tuning to dropped c. does it have coil tap? either way i still think i will buy it. i like how it looks remindes me of the rg 770's with the matching body color inlays.
I'm planing on buying this guitar used for $300,taking out all the electronics ,neck ,bridge and pick guard painting it red,and replacing the Edge 3 with original edge.I basically want it to look like an RG550 red,but is there any way to remove the inlays?Would I have to get new frets some how or a whole new neck?
i had this guitar, loved it, played the fuck outta it then smashed it at a show. it has amazing action buttttttt imma have to say that cheap "floyd" or in other words the ibanez edge tremolo is terrible. i broke it, completly. dive bombs. if its not a original floyd its trash. the mayple neck is sweet tho. check our a jackson rr24m. thats a treat =]

Man, I want that guitar so bad, the place closest to my house wants $450.00 for it but another place a little bit farther wants $400.00 for it.
SLAY3R510 3 years ago
how good is the whammy for this guitar?
jakethwaites 3 years ago
About as good as any other really, I mean for the price range anyway :)
kamikaze1213 3 years ago
The bridge is an edge 3 floating tremolo. its good for the first 6 months, then it goes to shit. its best to get a guitar with an edge pro bridge on it, or buy this guitar and replace the bridge, thats what i did.
punktakesnoprisoners 3 years ago
actually it might just be dulling of the knife edge which caused the problems you have experienced with the edge III. It is a common problem on the new Ibanez trems including the Edge Pro. some even have quite dull knife edge from the factory, so if you did not check the edge out, you should have. Just some penny-saving advice, for others who might think of replacing the E-III after reading your post. The Edge III is a proper trem, though inferior in features to the Edge Pro
monsternoobX 3 years ago
everyone ive talked to has replaced their rg bridges with edge pros.

Thanks for your patience ;)
josemiguelleao 3 years ago
well, that can go one way. The neck is a 2 octave wizard 2 neck (24 frets). And they way you want your bridge is based solely on how you adjust it. I wouldn't recommend an edge 3, you should go for a ZR

why are you changing the pickups are they bad???
GODOFR0CK 3 years ago
No they aren't bad at all, It's just that other pickups out there can get a better tonality then stock pickups, Like the Dimarzio/Seymour duncans etc... Just adding an extra punch and get every tonal nuance avaiable from the guitar :)
kamikaze1213 3 years ago
well i havnt been playing for too long and i wanna play metal and hard rock etc. so will this be a good guitar for me? if not any reccomendations?
amidgetjew 3 years ago
This would be an awesome guitar for you! Head down to your local Ibanez dealer and try it out :)
kamikaze1213 3 years ago
how you did this fast picking? is there any tutorial can you give me tips?
grate08 3 years ago
It's just alternate picking, I started by alternating my picking through major scales both down and up, it will definitely build good dexterity and faster picking!
kamikaze1213 3 years ago
have you ever problem like mine: every 2 days g string breaks in the same place (0,5cm from the bridge). it hapens last 6 or 7 days(i have this guitar for 9 weeks). never have problem like that (with my rg 2570 never as well). is it something with the bridge or is it a coincidence? help. peace.

Currently 399.99 through American musical supply :)
kamikaze1213 3 years ago
I'm gonna get one and replace the pickups with EMGs
alpha1shadow 3 years ago
don't do that I had a friend that replaced the pickups on a similar guitar with EMG's and it didn't turn out very well and he sold them in about 2 weeks, he then tried dimarzio and it worked out better but different people, different opinions you know how it is
ConspX 3 years ago
yeah, i'm just gonna end up building my own guitar.
it comes out less expensive than that guitar, if i buy one, i'd have to mess up a bunch of stuff before i get it the way i want it to be.
alpha1shadow 3 years ago
I personally have a very shitty guitar so I guess I'll never have to upgrade thank god for this blessing :) also it wouldn't be much of miss if I smash it in the ground

justin0185 3 years ago

negitivezero7 3 years ago

I'm planing on buying this guitar used for $300,taking out all the electronics ,neck ,bridge and pick guard painting it red,and replacing the Edge 3 with original edge.I basically want it to look like an RG550 red,but is there any way to remove the inlays?Would I have to get new frets some how or a whole new neck?
