There's two other versions of this song form the Winterland shows. Each of which is better because Jimi does extended soloing and masterful improvisation. Maybe the audio quality isn't that good, and maybe that's why Sony and Experience hendrix LLC don't promote those other versions, but they blow this one out of the water. This version, by Hendrix standards blows chunks.

The performance this comes from is from the 1st show on Oct. 12, 1968, the fifth concert in the series of 6 in 3 nights. The version in this video is edited down from more than ten minutes, eliminating some flubs by Jimi but missing some lines like "...who carried on his shoulder an artificial Siamese cat...".

This version, even though it is edited down, is still a great "single" release. The edits are suave and beautiful.
