@figliuolonumero1 sorry. opinions are opinions. i came to this page to listen to a great song. then someone (you) suggested to check something similar out. it was not similar. it was a sham. i felt cheated. that song was a terrible example of how stoner rock is now being commercialized just like what happened to punk. it is now being molded into some horrifying stoner rock and nickleback hybrid. its dumb.
First: I Never suggested you to listen to Enchanting Odyssey to find a song LIKE pilot the dune!!!
Second: I never told Enchanting Odyssey is a great song! It's a simple song that can be appreciated..or not. You didn't like? Well but It's a pity you don't try to listen to the entire album "Docile". Did the bands you like produce perfect records? I don't think so. Queens commercialized stoner, band that most probably you listen to! Thanks them! Sorry
This sounds good, It's heavy without pushing it, it has a good rhythm and a cool desert feel to it, but it lacks the mellow continuity that was the trademark and what I find most attractive in Kyuss.
im planning to form a band and I want it to have a sound a little like this, along with my own music-fantasy of course. So if anyone in the gothenburg, sweden area wants to join me, your free to ask!
Great song by the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love this band, they made a huge impact on me when i first heard em', and still do ! !
Kyuss Fans: The info. was leaked so I'm now allowed to announce that" Kyuss Lives" will be recording a new studio album.
"Our rehearsals are going so well that we're thinking of doing another record," said John Garcia." Brant, Nick and myself have have collectively agreed that once everything is done live and we're done with our solo projects, we're going to do another record."
"I have nothing bad to say about Josh,"."He's extremely intelligent, very smart, a great guitar player, songwriter, vocalist. He is a bad ass, there is no question, and I love him dearly. But he is busy with his own thing." [Besides TCV & QOTSA,demands as a producer, a father, a businessman] "Even if we asked him to [record with Kyuss], I don't think he'd say yes, so I don't want to set myself up for a big fat no, which is 99.9 percent what he would say." - John, earlier this week-
I have to agree that most of Kyuss' riffs weren't very melodic when taking in consideration that most people consider "melodic" as using 7 different tones. I'm not sure if I can remember one song from Kyuss that did this. This pooves that melody isn't really in the amount of tones. I think Kyuss and Sabbath are both melodic! So I'll say that 5 tones is all you need, and 6 is pushing it.
This "Sabbath Formula" thing is bullshit with some sense...
Pentatonic scale riffs with blues solos (lots of bends, vibratos and etc) is the simplest way to make music... but IT'S NOT EVERYONE WHO WORKS ON THIS FORMULA THAT MAKES WONDERS!!!
It takes some talent, and Kyuss had it (Josh, Brant, John, Nick and Scott). And so did Sabbath (Ozzy, Dio, Tony Iommi)
The real thing is: SABBATH CAME FIRST!!! That's why they set these standarts, man...
why are you guys saying that kyuss worked on the sabbath formula? I dont think that at all. Some tunes must have something in common but the overall majority doesnt sound nothing alike. Btw, I love both bands.
@DruNation Nooo, not as 'quality' as Sabbath.. sure it's 'similar' but really, it's miles off > I'd run and listen to Sabbath if that was the case :s Often imitated but never duplicated..
Don't get me wrong I do resect this tye of music, even though it may not sound like I do.. haha I just get annoyed daily by people who hear me listening to some Sabbath tune and they ask me.."Hey. is that Ozzy?" to which I answer "Noooo, it's not, it's Black Sabbath ya tard!" ;D ;D :P
@ConiferTreez Meh, there's no convincing a 'Kyuss fan' that Kyuss isn't on par with Sabbath. My main point is that Tony Iommi has always been severely underrated within the music industry as a guitarist. And he is a much better guitarist than this guy playing for Kyuss, no doubt. Monster Magnet worked more wonders with the Sabbath formula even.. but neither of them are 'on par' with Iommi's genius.
curious, since talentless hacks like britney and christina make millions upon millions... how do you guys think a real musician like Garcia has done for himself with all he's over the years, financially?
@RootJensen well right after Kyuss he was in Slo Burn, then Unida, then Hermano and right now Garcia Plays Kyuss , so he has not got back, he has been into music all the time.
1:41... this shit brings me back, a friend gave me a cd and said hey check out my cousin's band, and this turned out to be the album that led me into stoner rock
Yeah, I asked here because the lyrics say "a pilot" on most of the lyrics sites but on urbandictionary "pilot the dune" had the same definition than yours. Anyway, most of the lyrics sites copy each other so someone submitted the wrong lyrics and everyone copied it. Thanks!
WTF? Whoever cut this was a complete asshole! The song is awesome but the video is bullshit. Seeing John in that net-top is absolutely ridiculous. And to rape the original heavy ending is blasphemy to say the least! Some people simply don't have a heart...
josh was good and his sound is very original but if u look at their post kyuss work u can tell homme wanted to be the boss of his own band that could go in whichever musical direction he wanted, he probably felt his talent was going to waste cos kyuss were never big. But this song is as good as any kyuss song and that says somethin about johns input. I'll always respect josh for what he did with kyuss but i'll never forgive him for leaving the motherband of stoner for a shot at being a rock star
Solid comment, although I disagree about this being as good as any Kyuss song, because it's definitely not. It's all right, but come on...this compared to Whitewater? Gardenia? Spaceship Landing? None of these post-Kyuss bands with Garcia have guitarists that can belt out those monstrous riffs like Josh. Plus, Scott Reeder and Brant Bjork had a lot to do with the music as well, it was definitely a group effort.
i know the rest were important to kyuss' sound and knowing they were the originals erns them extra respect but cant u imagine this song being on circus? if i didnt know better id say this was josh on guitar.maybe im just under the spell of johns voice and its clouding my judgement. im just really happy theres more john garcia stuff out there to be discovered.
I dunno man, I don't think Garcia's vocals or lyrics here are nearly as strong as in Kyuss. If anything, Hermano is better. And no, Circus was much more chill and jam-like. The closest thing this song sounds like is something off Wretch, which was definitely their weakest album.
Aye well said, as a massive Qotsa fan, and a big Homme fan as a guitarist, I understand what you mean totally. But I reckon overall, if Homme hadn't left Kyuss, then we wouldn't have amazing bands like Slo Burn, Hermano, Qotsa and moving further away from the genre, EODM or more recently TCV. But well said man
even after some 10,000 plays on my ipod this never wears out, fans should also check out hermano, not AS great as slo burn or kyuss but a nice couple of CD's for your collection :)
I Bought the Sloburn Cd in a shop after checking out the front cover.....didnt know who was in the band didnt know i tell ya....i discovered he was in kyuss through that record...and Kyuss took my breath away...couldnt breath ....but man what a fucking band.
i can sit totally smashed of my face and listen to kyuss not so much to slo burn well maybe i can but they only made like 4 songs monster magnet i now worship or desert sessions love stoner/desrt rock so much
anyone who rags on this song or band dont realy listen to music, coz these little Douche bags are sayin its "to similar to Kyuss" or "they copied Kyuss"
well you guys dont deserve an opinion coz yous dont know how to listen to music and see good in it, its all just negative with yous, listen up! or shut the Hell up! props to HomelessKev and anyone who likes this band, this song and anyone who loves Balls out Rock music!
First of all I do 'really listen' to music. My entire life is music and Kyuss started it all for me. Kyuss were an incredibly original band, and if they had given into the temptation of imitating THEIR favourite band, then Kyuss as we know it wouldn't even exist. Same goes for any artist. If it's not something fresh and original then you may as well lie on the couch all day with cheeto crumbs on your face.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You got that right. These guys are just kyuss fanboys who wanted to sound just like them. They even copied their equipment. John's a great singer but he should have known kyuss 2 wasn't going to work.
It's alot less layered then kyuss. Also sounds alot more distorted? I like their EP alot , i dont mind they sound like Kyuss. I mean that's like a good thing.
yeah man i seen hermano live there about 2 or 3 months ago, i tink....man im fuckin stoned! and Garcia can still rip it up man! his vocals are Phenomenal! man thats a great word, Phenomenal! its so great that i had to look it up in the dictionary! coz i cant spell for shit, but ill never give up weed, coz its a necessary tool of life! if everybody in the world smoked weed, it would be like the best day on weed....every day!

You can't compare any other stoner band with Kyuss. All other bands can be similar...but the difference with Kyuss is simply too large!

This sounds exactly the same as Kyuss. Don't deny it.

Well the guitar isn't as "free-wheeling" if that's the right word than Kyuss, but other than that I would agree.

Nah brah, Kyuss hada blues-ier sound to thier songs, especailly thier later CDs.

To me it's more Sabbath-y than Kyuss, they are kinda similar but they aren't the same.

Who cares if they sound like Kyuss? Kyuss were effin' A! and so are sloburn, Unida and Hermano!

I mean that's like a good thing.

shut up man! slo burn is unique, and nothing like kyuss.
And even if you think its sounds too much like kyuss, who gies a fuck, they do it well and sound amazing.
