I'm from Texas, am 21, and engaged-- it's definitely not because of "southern pressure" though (I'm from the liberal oasis that is Austin.) I definitely second Whitney as someone who's going straight into law school only months after my wedding that I am SO glad to have someone there to be with me with moving eight states away and transitioning to law school. Knowing I have someone steady that I love to come home to makes all the change bearable. He's my rock in this crazy ocean.

I have noticed that in the south there are more traditional values that people still want. I'm going to be 22 in a few days and several of my friends (same age) are married or getting married within the next year and starting families. At the same time though I think b/c of the times we are dealing with now, its almost a trend to be together and married b/c its easier financially to share expenses. You always have someone to turn to when your stressed or just need someone to confide in.
I found this very interesting and helpful. I plan to get married at 25 and my Californian mother thinks I'm crazy. Her early marriage to my father ended and it started when she was 27. She's paranoid.
