  • @pacevedo9 haa im just kiddin dude, youll have a blast flying no matter where you do it!

  • Can you tell me approximately how much time does it take an average student to obtain a Commercial Pilot's License at Embry-Riddle?

  • @pacevedo9 You generally obtain your Pilot's certificate in conjunction with your degree. A typical completion time for an undergraduate degree is about 120 credit hours which equates to be about 4 years.

  • I want to be a corporate pilot, does Embry-Riddle offer the necessary ratings and such to accomplish that?

  • Talk to a current flying pilot at the airlines today, and get the real story. Remember, flight schools mainly want your money.

Who wants to start life with a $100,000 - $200,000 debt, all to get a flying job starting out at appr. $17,000/yr. (Recently a passenger told me his son has a $250,000 debt now from ERAU) The cost will be more when the new FAA requirements are presented.

Talk to the ones (airline pilots) doing the job, not the salespeople who need your money to keep them afloat.

  • 4 people arer gay fages

  • DO NOT GO TO RIDDLE, TRUST ME

  • @paul02155 Whcan you tell me why sr?? Because i am kind of interested in the school.

  • @PilotPauloJorge Too expensive. No guarantee for a jet job. You will need to flight instruct and built your time. Notice how most students are CFI's after they graduate. It isn't because they want to, it is because they have to!

  • @rev4life03 so after u graduate from erau, how much flight time (total hours) will you have? (say if you took the Multi-track route).

  • @paul02155 why??

  • @alcisn14 Overpriced, degree is useless and you dont get any "special" perks for being a riddle graduate. Dont believe the lies.

  • What's the better way to go single or multi engine track?

  • @MrAAA116 With single track you will spend less money however it is Multi engine time that matters to the airlines and regionals. Multi-Track is the way to go esp if you can afford it. You'll build the time you need faster.

  • @lowe442 how much time do u build doing the Multi-Track program??

  • is there a aviation engineering class?

  • @1020michael1020 The Aerospace Engineering program at Embry-Riddle is the largest in the United States and is recognized as the nation's premier program by U.S. News and World Report. The ABET-accredited curriculum focuses on vehicle design for air, space, land, or water.

  • @EmbryRiddleUniv i am really interested

  • can i learn aviation engineering there 2?

  • @1020michael1020 How much does it cost at UND?

  • @MrLxmarshall ERAU recommends that students and parents budget approximately $15,000 per year for flight fees for the first two years, and approximately $10,000 for the third year of flight. Please take into consideration that prices will vary per student since no two students learn at the same rate. To learn more please visit our website erau.edu

  • und is way better dont waste your time here. have fun paying 200 grand for a second best education

  • Can't wait to get my hands on the da-42! ;)

  • no i just lke caps

  • I ALSO WANT TO GET ALL MY PILOT LISCENSES LIKE MY INSTUAMENT AND PRIVATE AND MY COMMERCIAL IM HOPING I WILL BE A GOOD PILOT AND TO FLY COMMERCIAL AIRLINERS

  • @JordanBellow5 THEN YOU BETTER START SAVING CAUSE ITS GOING TO COST ABOUT $200,000 TO GO THERE ;)

  • I LIKE THIS COLLEGE IM ONLY 13 BUT I WILL BE AT THIS COLLEGE LATER IN LIFE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL I WANT TO GET MY PRIVATE AND COMMERCIAL LISCENSE AND MY INSTRUAMENT LISCENSE AT THIS COLLEGE SO IM SO READY FOR COLLEGE I WILL BE ATTENDING THE ONE IN DAYTONA BEACH,FL I FLY ON MY SIMULATOR EVERYDAY AND I ALWAYS ASK MY DAD QUESTIONS ABOUT PLANES BECAUSE HE UST TO FLY PLANES BUT HE HASNT FLEW IN A LONG TIME SO I THINK HE WILL LIKE THAT I AM FOLLOWING HIS FOOTSTEPS

  • @JordanBellow5 WHO CARES? DO YOU HAVE A BROKEN CAPS LOCK OR SOMETHING?

  • Also what rating do you get up to at embry riddle? Is it an ATP rating or just a commercial rating?

  • @fsx207 You get your ATP when you are promoted to captain in the Airlines. In Embry - Riddle you get your Private, IR, Comm Single, Comm Multi, CFI, and an option of CFII and MEI.

  • @aolambros "you get your ATP when you are promoted to captain in the Airlines."

You are WAY OFF. The ATP ALLOWS a pilot to be a captain for an airline. You still need to earn it by doing the written tests, flying the minimum required flight hours and passing the ATP Checkride. You don't get it automatically when you get promoted. Airlines won't even consider you for an interview these days for a co - pilot slot unless you have an ATP. Instead of playing FSX, you should read FAR Part 61 ;)

  • @rev4life03 At least it used to be that way last time I did my research.. You don't have to punish me. Why should I be reading that? I haven't begun my flight training yet. I'll read it when I am about to start cause who knows when it is going to change again.

  • @aolambros Not Trying to punish you. It was just false information that I was correcting. Why should you be reading that? If you are going to train, you must know the FAR's. Not all of it but at least for private pilot, and trust me, as a Private pilot now in instrument training, there is a lot to know and you have to know it to earn your license. More than half of my oral portion of the flight test was knowing the FAR's for Private Pilot. They dont change that much. Its always been that for ATP

  • @rev4life03 And now that I am in instrument training, I must know the FAR's for instrument pilots and eventually commercial pilot. No matter what license you want, you will HAVE to know the FARs.

  • I've heard from my flight instructor that they get a lot of pilots that graduated from erau, but they basically need to restart from the basics with them. Can somebody either attending embry riddle or an alumni respond. tell me if this is true with most of the students?

  • @fsx207 Our program utilizes a highly experienced instructor force, close integration of flight and classroom syllabi, a very "young" aircraft fleet, advanced visual simulators, and Regional Jet flight training devices. This powerful combination of resources gives our students the opportunity to develop professional aviation skills that are the envy of other universities and unequalled in private industry.

  • @EmbryRiddleUniv Read this as

"Young aircraft fleet, advanced visual simulators" = Unnecessarily expensive.

"Regional Jet flight training devices." = Completely useless and unnecessarily expensive. "envy of other universities and unequalled in private industry." = Envied because the other universities wish they could have your $100,000 + for a useless degree.

  • @fsx207 You can choose between a single engine or multi engine track. Embry-Riddle allows students to gain up to a commercial pilot's license and a certified flight instructor.

  • What courses (aside from your core courses) would you recommend to take in high school to be accepted in this shcool?

  • @CrimsonGetsu The transition into our aviation programs come easier to students who have completed courses in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, chemistry, physics and computers.

  • Wow! Really this is my passion but NO MONEY !! ... Is very expensive... :(

  • If I want to be a commercial pilot, what would you recommend my studies be at ERAU?

  • @theclipshow No, completely unnecessary and way too expensive.

  • So awesome

  • i want to get my commercial licence's do u do that

  • Are students at Embry-Riddle required to learn mild aerobatic maneuvers?

  • @n310ea Embry- Riddle follows the same PTS Standards as any other flight program. Simple Maneuvers such as Stalls, Steep Turns, Chandelles, Steep Spirals, Lazy 8s, Eights on Pylons etc. You are not required to fly an aerobatic aircraft although if you go through CFI training, you are required to do some spin training. Nothing inverted or excessive.

  • You can fly wherever you want. Flight training is the same wherever you go. Not many places will give you the systems knowledge that you need though. For that, I would suggest taking a ground school with a career oriented program. Do two years at a community college (60 credits) get your commercial and multi add on and erau worldwide will give you 30 credits for your flight training. Then take 30 credits with erau worldwide and you're done. Guaranteed cheapest way of getting an erau degree.

  • What if I get a full schalorship if I attened Thomas Jefferson High School(which is the number 1 high school in the nation. also every student gets a schalorship of his choice of school) Would the schalorship apply to all four years?

  • So I have my private pilots license already but only on single engine prop. I want to attend the school to get my multi-engine rating and possably major in air traffic management. DOes this sound realistic if there would be any problums with this could you let me know. Thanks

  • @kxkid0517 There should not be any issue with your idea, there are air traffic management students that also minor in flight, as well as there are flight students that minor in air traffic management. That being said, I do highly encourage you to contact our Admissions Department at 386-226-6100 to get specifics about taking such a course.

  • UND UND UND UND UND UND UND

  • @aviator147 been there done that. Miserable. Go to a normal state college people. It is not worth the cost even at UND.

  • 2 words. GI Bill

  • @akkalakakalakka you know what, I think that's the wrong reason to join the military. Sure it's helpful, but you should join the military because you want to serve your country

  • @Frogboss6 A very condescending remark, indeed. I was already through with my first couple tours in Iraq long before I even knew about the Post 9/11 GI Bill.

  • @akkalakakalakka I don't mean you specifically, I mean in general. Some people join the military just for the benefits, and I think it's wrong. P.S. Thanks for serving my country =)

  • 1 more yeah baby

  • I am from another country and would love to attend Embry Riddle but is there any chance of getting a job in the US (the airline issuing a work visa) for a international student?

  • People need to stop bringing down the college just because you cant afford/dropped out of ERAU. Just about every college graduate is going to be in debt so you guys just need to shut up.

  • @rapterpilot I'm so with you on that man. I'm going to have about 60k worth of student loans to pay off, but damn it I'm gonna work my ass off and find a job. A lot of pilots are complete pricks that are used to having everything handed to them, if it's hard or doesn't fit perfectly, it's stupid. I'm willing to work my ass off to do this and be in debt like everyone else, but at least I'll enjoy my job. I'll eat tuna and ride a bus, but to me it's worth it. Haha rant...

  • @rapterpilot Hence the name, "The Harvard of aviation." If they can't handle it, then they shouldn't of applied in the first place.

  • kisa wiley is pretay.

  • Embry-riddle where dreams go to die.

  • Really can't wait. I move to the Daytona campus Aug 24th! Just that much closer to donning a business suit that has more dials and knobs than a car!

  • is there any link where i can check the prices and stuff?

  • which one is better florida or arizona

  • @computertube2 It depends. Arizona is much smaller than Florida and has more outdoor activities like hiking and mountain climbing. Florida is a larger campus right next to the airport, and very close to the beach and Daytona International Speedway. At both schools you will receive a very similar and high quality education.

  • Total Tuition cost at embry riddle for the aeronautical science degree (Pointless Degree) : $54,438 - *Multiply that by 4 for the 4 years attended IF you graduate.

Typical Community College Tuition from US news website: $2,511

ATP airline pilot fast 90 day program cost from the ATP website : $39,995

    See the irony here?

  • @rev4life03 i don't get it

  • @rev4life03 i don't get it

  • @computertube2 Whats not to get? Embry Riddle is a complete ripoff. The airlines don't care what degree you have either, so why get one in aviation if you lose your medical or get furloughed? (I guarantee you will at least once, even as a riddle grad) get the training somewhere else and don't fall in debt.

  • @rev4life03 i did not know i totally agree with you now that you give that good point.

  • @rev4life03 why is it a pointless degree?

  • @DARILyankee it is a poitless degreee because the airlines dont require a degree in a particular area of study (ask any airline/corporate pilot, i did), so, if you spend over 100K on this degree and you end up losing your medical and can no longer fly for the airlines and pay your loans back, what job can that degree help you get? If the airlines dont care, get a degree in something else and let it be your safety net. Youll be much happier without having to pay all those loans.

  • @rev4life03 This is true. As long as you have the flight time and ratings, your degree does not really matter. You might as well be a mathematician or engineer. At least then you can have something to fall back on. Majoring in a pilot degree is bad. I'm actually thinking of changing my degree to math.

  • @rev4life03 Yes. It is ironic. The thing is... those certs. like private, instrument, commercial, multi engine, ATP, CFI, CFII are all the same everywhere. I go to a flight school here in LA and its 5 times cheaper than Embry Riddle. I get the exact same ratings....

  • @rev4life03

You are wrong. I agree with you for the big cost of Embry Riddle.

Do work in the airlines you need a bachelor's degree, and you will not get that by just going to a community college.

Also the 90 day fast track program at ATP is for people who already have their PPL, you have to do the 150 day program which is 60,000. All together it is still less, but I am just saying.

  • @aolambros I am not wrong, ever heard of transferring from community to a 4 year after getting an associate? As for ATP, you are right, it is for people who have their private first. So go to a local airport, spend HALF of what it costs at riddle to get a private and then do the program. Still Cheaper. Even the 150 day fast track starting from scratch costs less than 2 semesters at riddle. Just Saying ;)

  • @rev4life03 why is pointless? it doesn't give the commercial pilot license?

  • @juandv93 It does but here is the catch. The airlines do not care what your degree is in. Why spend that tuition for a degree in aeronautical science when you can get your licenses at your local flight school and earn a bachelors in something else. Every airline and corporate pilot I talk to say that the school you got your degree at means nothing. You just need to have one. I work at an airport so I have met a variety of different pilots. Save your money.

  • @rev4life03 so after u graduate from erau, how much flight time (total hours) will you have? (say if you took the Multi-track route).

  • @rappinCheese I bet you wont make it over 500 total with 25 multi. You need 100 multi just to meet the minimums. Thats 75 more hours to buy after spending 200k and sinking in loan debt. Airlines won't even bat an eye at you until you hit 1000 total and 100 multi.

  • @rev4life03 thanks for the reply. really great.so which flight school/college/university do you suggest if you want to sit in the right seat?

  • i wish i could go to this school.

  • @moviesforrandy No you don't

  • @mcgra8bc WHY YOU SAY THAT?

  • Hello, i'm brazilian, what a need to do to study in this university? I want to study on Daytona Beach.

  • what grades or GPA do you need from highschool to get in here?

  • If you contact our Admissions Department at 386-226-6100, they should be able to help clarify what grades/GPA you should aim to achieve while in high school.

  • @EmbryRiddleUniv What is the standard SAT scores that you need to enter Embry Riddle?

  • @Mrsoapyslinky all u need is the money

  • Well, I know where I'm going to college.

  • How likely is it that I can become an airline pilot out of Embry-Riddle. Direct or non direct, I want to get a degree in Aeronauticle Science and work for an airline.

  • Getting your Aeronautical Science degree and pilot licenses at Embry-Riddle will definitely get you in the door with many airlines and give you an advantage over others trying to compete for the same job but will not guarantee you a job. Getting an airline job or any aviation job is purely on the individual and how hard they work.

  • Yay im going here, I have no money lol wonder how im going to pay for this college. :)

  • @SuperiorTowers If you do not have money do not go to this school. If you want to be a pilot get a useful degree in something else and fly on the side. If you go to riddle you will be poor and in debt for the rest of your life

  • Finishing up my MSM in Integrated Logistics (have 9 hrs to go) from ERAU Worldwide in Louisville. This past week my family and I went to Disney World to celebrate our son's 5th birthday. We took a side trip up to Daytona to check out the main campus. Impressive, to say the least. Looked very busy (students all scurrying off to and from class) and modern. I already told my wife I wouldn't mind doing my commencement in Daytona.

  • what plane is that @ 0:26 ?

  • it is the Diamond DA-42 Twin Star.

  • Well I too realized like many people that I'm not rich so I'm not going there any more.

Instead I'm going for the same degree at rocky mountain college...

  • What ever you do, DO NOT GO TO EMBRY-RIDDLE to be a pilot. Contact me and I will be happy to share some experiences with you that will show you why going to riddle will be the worst mistake of your life.

  • hi, why would it be a mistake?

  • i got accepted for fall 2010 but paying for it is gonna be crazy. anyone know where to get scholarships for it?

  • me too cant wait to be in debt from student loans for the rest of my life

  • virtual high five!

  • I'm in my senior year at Riddle and I'm also a flight instructor.

You'll hear a lot of shit about Riddle but honestly in my opinion it's a great school. Expensive, yes.. but if you have a passion for aviation as I know I always have, you'll love being here.

Plus - there's plenty of great scholarships and grants out there that'll help you out greatly.

Most of the bad reviews are most likely disinterested students. It's like any other university - you get out of it what you put into it.

  • where can u find scholarships.....?

  • Dude not to burst your bubble, but you will change your mind after a couple years in the airlines.

  • Doubt it.. thanks for your concern though asshole.

  • oh.. forgot to add one thing: I transferred in as a junior, already had my commercial certificate with single engine and instrument ratings... and also got an associate's degree in aviation elsewhere before going to riddle.

i strongly advise on getting as much flight training as you can ELSEWHERE.. while i don't have too much against the school itself (besides being a little too hyped up for what it is)... i will say that the flight department is a huge headache. glad im done flying there.

  • So why am I an asshole? I am honestly sharing my belief. When I was a senior and a flight instructor I thought the airlines were going to be great and I would be "living the dream" not the nightmare that it turned out to be.

  • rest of post;

Its easy to say "Doubt it.. thanks for your concern though asshole" when you have NEVER worked for the airlines. If you won't take my word for it take Sully's (The captain who landed in the Hudson) "I do not know a single professional airline pilot who wants his or her children to follow in their footsteps."

  • hi, did they accept most of your credits from your other school? what didn't you like about the flight department?

  • hi edgar5001,

the credits accepted was one thing i was VERY pleased with.. i actually thought they'd be taking much less. (they took 60 of 66 credits)

as far as the flight dept. goes.. i just felt that it was very stressful flying at Riddle.. in comparison to the flight school i was at back home (a part 141 school)

it's very overwhelming to be a new flight student having to memorize flows, callouts, and SOPs from day one.. as a CFI, i think it's too much for someone new to flying.

  • so you wouldn't recommend the school?...im not exactly new i have my private and im close to getting my instrument. > I also heard that its really expensive...how much in school loans do you owe after you got out?

  • @edgar5001 too much

  • @edgar5001 In a simple explanation you would be in debt for a loooooong time

  • ERAU is a great school, expensive of course, if u love aviation like me thats your place. I got acepted so hopefully ill be attending fall 2010...

  • Contact me. I will tell you why going to riddle will be the worst mistake of your life.

  • Full Scholarship to Embry Riddle Fall 2011, here I come!

  • how did you do it?

  • Yellow Ribbon scholarship with the GI Bill. If you have any more questions, let me know. I'll give you every detail about it.

  • yeaa how u got it...........

  • yea i gotta accepted.. im so happy.. but dang its expensiveeeee.. idc tho i really wanna fly

  • WAnt to go there so bad got 3 more years of high school though

  • YA JUSTIN AND LOPEZ!

  • Dec 05 grad, Riddle is a great school for aviation minded folks, if you do the work its definitely worth it, just be prepared to pay a butt load of money for it

  • I want to go to Emery Riddle, I am a sophomore in High School and I was wondering how much it costs. I live in Colorado so its not like I live near it either.

  • There are two campuses; there is one is Prescott, AZ, and another one in Daytona Beach, FL. When I graduated in 2007, tuition was about $30,000 per year for flight students. It is probably more now; when I started back in 1999, it was only about $10,000 per year.

  • lol try 50,000 a year as a flight student bro. and thats WITH some scholarships.

  • 30.000 for everything per year is not that much but still is kinda high....but is qonna worth it ...i wanna qo to the one in daytona beach..... but i still have 2 years in high school .... :p

  • dont forget the $15,000+ in flight cost added on to the $30,000

  • r u serious man? so u mean like 45k a year?

  • more like 50k a year. go look at their website and find the cost of attendance. youll see

  • its a private school so its doesnt matter if you're in state or out state you pay same price.. trust me i know i life in florida and i got accepted

  • how lonq does it take for been an airline / private pilot to graduate???????????

  • It depends, do you already have any ratings?

  • what are the requirements to enter this school.. i'am very young and have 5 more years till i go to college and and joining ROTC at high school. what is ASVAB test i been hearing from my cousin telling me to take that on jr or sr high.

  • The ASVAB is a test they make you take before you go into the military, I dont think itll help you get into this school. Im not completely sure about this but I think to get in you should take the SAT.

  • @Jacobdead tnx mate....... cant wait to get to college but still need to enjoy highschool years....

  • this is a college, study and get decent grades, this isn't a military school, lots do go military but u don't by any means have to.

  • i want to go to your school!! you guys rock!

  • You will regret going to riddle for the rest of your life. contact me and I can explain why.

  • @mcgra8bc why

  • Im a Dec '01 grad. ERAU is NOT a bad place. You will recieve a fine education but it WILL cost you...lots of money. With the economy and the direction that the airline biz has gone, getting a flying job will be difficult and the money will not be there. It will be quite some time before you get any return on your investtment. There are cheaper, and perhaps quicker ways to get flight time. But I have no regrets,

  • Do not go to riddle trust me. 05 Riddle alum and embarrassed.
