  • HAHA I've never heard someone compare cats to sturgeons, that's funny

  • HECK OF A FIGHT MAN! HOW BIG WERE THE BULLHEAD YOU WERE USING, AND HOW DID YOU GET EM? FROM A BAIT SHOP?

  • It comes up as a shark

  • I heard you comparing the fight to sturgeon fishing in the video, so it made me curious.. Do you think flatheads or sturgeon of the same size fight better?

  • what for bait?

  • rookies.jk.lol.nice fish thats my dream to catch a big one like that

  • nice fish, great release. awsome.

  • Kudos for letting that big one go

  • very good job sir,we have those like that here in alabama, though all i,ve really fished for is blues and channels, could yu please tell me what kind of bait you were using.

  • Nice job! iam 13 i would be dieing there but it looks fun

  • I've tried bullheads and never got a flathead on one. I've caught all mine on bluegill so far... I will keep tryin' 'em, though!

  • very nice fish my friend

  • what would you use for bait if you were going for 5-20 pounds if you cant have bull head?

  • @wildyownzJr bluegill works pretty well here in texas

  • great catch! U DA MAN!

  • I nod my rod to you my man. Good damn fish shattered my record!!!!

  • I never keep flathead but i do eat channel cats but not all the time \m/

  • works better if you reel

  • Way to release it!

  • Nothing like fishing in the Northern Midwest.

  • Happy they released it but they didn't even weigh that beast. I would of weighed it first so when i told the story i would be certain on it's size.

  • what pound line???

  • Very nice flathead, congratulations! Way to go on the release, it would be a real shame for a fish like that not to live to fight another day. Nicely done!

  • i would've fried that big boy on up never would've released it

  • @topcityblood84 yeah but the cats that big taste like mud. trust me ive tried eating them that big

  • im always scared to put my hand in a catfish's mouth lol i dont want it to clamp down on my hand

  • What were you using for bait?

  • Love it! I caught a 28lb. flattie once while carp fishing and it was hands down the best fight I've ever had. I've been fascinated with them ever since.

    Kudos for releasing that beast!

  • What is some of the best flathead bait to use?

  • good job!! i just started gettin into flathead fishin, maybe that will be me sometime soon!!! =)

  • This is awesome. I wish we had fish this size on the Clarion river.

  • good job letting that big flat head go they are big egg layers and are vital to the sport and besides when they get that big they dont taste good at all i dont keep em over 10-15 pounds

  • near which launch on the river is that? please dont say near highway 13 because i didnt catch any there

  • nah his set up is fine blood any rod you got even with 100 lb test in that much current is gonna do the same thing i've caught many of 20-30's that have done the same thing to me just bc of the current.. i have also been in this situation where there was absolutely no current what so ever and i couldnt move the fish and i fish in texas so you tell me..

  • @punkdaisydogs totally agree with ya....wut do u use?...I roll with 2 11ft Diawia Ellimators with baitcasting abu's and i would not trade them for a thing I love the rods soooo much!!!

  • very cool on the release please dont butcher the big uns that looked like a female full of eggs

  • Got a spinning reel with a bait caster buddy.. Would have made your night alot easier etc ^_^

  • CPR at it's best! Catch Photo and Release! Great catch and even better to see it released!

  • ya i would to

  • catfish this big are better off being released. they wont taste good at all. they are so big and old at this point that they just taste like mud.i keep anything between 5 and 15 pounds everything else i release

  • Nice cat man, biggest one I ever caught was 41 inch long and 44 lbs.

That one probably will go around 50 or so.

  • beautiful simply amazing

  • Maybe a few years late in commenting on the video but I'm the guy huffing and puffing in the video. :)

Not my biggest Flathead but this one was right up there.

    Answer some questions:

    - Live Bullhead for Bait

    - Berkley Reflex 8' MH rod

    - Garcia 7000C3 reel spooled w/ 80lb PowerPro

    -10/0 Gamakatsu Octopus Hook

We release them all up here. :)

  • @HansonOutdoors a little late for me too, but where do you get your bullheads?

  • @HansonOutdoors 8/0 gamakatsu octopus circle hooks will work and i use a Zebco Hawg Seeker for a rod and Mason "Big Cat" Fishing line in 40lb. test.

i usually use chicken liver or gulp alive crawlers

  • i have a young flathead in my fishtank and i look forward to letting her get bigger to release her. That was amazing. What kind of bait were you using?

  • Im glad to see more catch and release fisherman. It would be awsome to see these fish grow to thier full potential.

I also think that it would be awsome to people treating gar some level of respect too. Those fish can grow to be as big as 14ft when left to grow.

  • wow nice fish guy i live in okla in snagged a 62lb flat in strong current like that i snagged it in the tail was a 45 min fight was amazing n exausting wish i had it on film

  • Awesome job man! And you released it!! we need more fisherman like you brother!!

  • yep the pitch black, the way the water moves, the snags and tree lines behind them...but i was joking...i was just there a few weeks ago and man it was slow. we boated a few fish in the 20 range and one over 30 is all....NOT what it was 7-10 years ago.
