No one fucking cares that he used samples. If anyone is STILL complaining about that they need to do their homework.
On the other hand, when you're this famous and your music is this simple, obviously there's a stark contrast between the good production values that never go noticed versus the cheese masses feed upon.
Just like most house producers... using loops all the time, but face it, people just love easy and catching crap and he knows that. That's why he's so famous :/
@deejee1971 Steve Angello.. is actually greek, and so is his brother AN21.. i highly doubt you know much about the background of most musicians, like for example i bet you think Deadmau5 is russian.
I agree with @OmarBFG It's highly unlikely Steve Angello used a melody of vengeance. Vengeance samples sounds of big producer tracks. Vengeance released all the samples of Put your hands up for Detroit by Fedde Le Grand a few months after it came out. You see it's the other way around. Producers make the sounds, vengeance samples them and the aspiring producers mess with the samples.
ah for pol that are complaining this melody is a loop Steve used, either if its true or not a lot of times when producers finish an amazing track and its released pll that make sample cds like vengeance then approach the producer and pay them to have their melodies on there sample and loops cds. alot of vengeance packs in thier special sounds folder most of the melodies are from tracks made by producers and i dont think all of the sounds in the pack producers took and used.
@OmarBFG noooo you are completely wrong. those sample packs were made like 8 years to 10 years ago. known of the big name producers you see made any of those sounds. yes steve did in fact use that very sample he did not create that sound.
@JJL505 indeed samples are meant to be used but when a sample is used as the entire basis of your melody you have to admit you are kinda taking credit for someone elses work
@JJL505 that is so true what plp dont get is that the big time dj/producers you guys idolize have plp like sswedish house mafia to ghost produce for them .. they think david guetta comes up with his tracks all by his self ...lmao no sir
@DJPirateYT Daft Punk used Eddie Johns' ''More Spell On You'' to make One More Time's lead sound, that weird trumpet loop. In Digital Love with George Duke's ''I Love You More''. Harder Better Faster Stronger used Edwin Birdsong's ''Cola Bottle Baby''. In Crescendolls they used The Imperials' ''Can You Imagine''. Superheroes used Barry Manilow's ''Who's Sleeping in My Bed''. Also, they did it in Indo Silver Club, with Karen Young's Hot Shot. So, I don't think it's only percussion samples.
why are people always bitchin' about that sampled loop? it is just one of many elements of the song that had to be put together, arranged, chopped, mixed-down, mastered etc. you people have absolutely no idea how many songs nowadays use samples or sampled loops in every genre. and theres nothing bad about it. after all, Steve Angello proved billion times before that he is top class producer. just listen and enjoy!
I really can't see peoples view on dissing steve for this.... he's shown initiative by spotting a sample and using it for himself? Isn't that what these sample packages are designed for? to use them? or are they forbidden to be used in songs??!
Jeeeeze everyone needs to stop moaning and whinging about something that is so irrelivant compared to the song itself! It's hardly rocket science, these samples are designed to be used in projects, Steve used the sample, and created a piece of magic...
i completely refrain from using samples in production because I have no control over them. I can't increase the release time etc. I would even synthesise my own drums a lot of the time so that i get exactly what i want and I know the key of the bass drum.
I would never, ever, ever advise anyone to use drum loops. Creating your own drum loops is a natural way to become comfortable with complex rhythms and choosing which tone or timbre or length of note to make the rhythm from.
The house that is floating around today suck so much ass compared to the good old Deep house or tribal house. I can't stand this minimal boring shit, I mean they put the least effort in it just to make a tune. I never liked their music and it's sad to hear people say how awesome they are when most of the stuff they do was done 10 times better 12 years ago in other tunes. Terry Lee Brown Jr for instance, he is a damn genius but he is not half as famous as this nerd, it's fucking irritating.
Please, enlighten me. Unless you're a complete tool, there's no way you'll be happier about a mac as a product, rather than a PC. When it comes to design however, Apple wins. Like iPhone it's only ever been ahead once or arguably twice, and it never lasted long (except for #1 iPhone).

all the people moaning that he used samples, don't hate that he done it, made money off it and you didn't the song was obviously huge no matter how it was made! still love this tune !!
for all you arse kissing faggots saying he did it frist yada yada. Yeah damn right he did, becuase everyone else wouldnt do such a shitty thing. He didnt THINK it up first its on a fucking cd anyone could use it, thats exactly why they didnt. The guy has no shame, others simply werent as lame as him.
This Does Kind Of Make Me Feel Bad About Steve. While The Track May Have Been Made With Nothing But Vengeance Samples. look at most other house music using samples. i can't count how many time's i have heard deadmau5's xfer samples in someone elses track. even going back to vengence samples. look at negaren's track "I Killed A House DJ" While i think that track sucks. alot of people seem to like it. and its composed of almost nothing but vengeance samples.
No disrespect to Steve, I admit, that this is a killer track. But the disappointing fact is as pointed out by Doctargh, that the melody itself was a sample; there was no tweaking, pitch shifting or different structure. Yes, many artists sample; sometimes heavily and other times barely. But I think it's a case of shock, and the ensuing bitterness, when people found out it was sampled. People have come to expect great productions from Steve, and so some probably feel cheated by this sampled track.
hey douchebags, i dont see you producing any big tracks... who cares how he made it, the point is HE MADE IT AND YOU DIDNT... everybody has a negative comment but just remember hes laughing all the way to the bank and you're here dishing out bull**** comments behind a computer......
all these comments are kinda funny...u know music production is not easy right...the fact that he used a sample dosent mean anything...EVERYBODY uses SAMPLES...if u fell bad for Steve and dont care for him any mre then that means U DONT LIKE DAFT PUNK,DEADMAU5,STEVE AOKI, ETC ETC ETC....do some research and learn about music instead of judging. it takes countless hours in a studio, usually with no sleep and no food to make songs for people to enjoy,so FUCKING ENJOY IT
@saltnpepperization What are you talking about?? I think it is a pretty well known trick to compress the kick using a fairly long attack to get more punch and clarity from it, although you would probably use some EQ before hand to suck out a little of the bottom frequencies. So actually, from time to time, you do use a compressor on the kick!!
i mean nooo its not ok there getting so much fucking money for the song...but i say using samples is not a bad thing because its what you make out of the samples and how u use them ;)
wow.. at first i thought that only the sound was samples and i thought that sucked, but now that i see that the whole melody was a sample... thats really lame i mean if I was a big producer I'd at least change it a little bit, but to use a whole melody thats already created is corny and lame. still love you steve though.
all i gotta say is, who came up with the idea and vision to use that sample and turn it into an absolute banger!! understandably the original sound wasnt his which if am a little honest is dissapointing but he's smashed it into a boss tune!!
its funny because deadmau5's "arguru" is also a complete sample from native instruments "mashine" the very first sample pack on it has the complete arguru song except for the bassline he adds.... alot of the hottest dance tracks out there are samples.. pathetic
@malvolent house was built on samples....disco samples...i agree with you if you are saying that artists should take a sample and work it into their own song rather than take a sample and just add a few drums....but i hope you know house was founded on sampling...look at daft punk, aaaall samples
Although obviously the track is a bit of a piss take, there are a couple of things worth noting. Although the loop is a direct lift, there are quite a few noises, fx, the bit-crushey layer over the lead synth, gigantic production on the kick, etc etc that definitely make the track something other than a couple of samples directly lifted.
Also, this might be a bit naive of me, but maybe he didn't realise the track would be as big became. maybe just made it and released without much thought
After reading all these comments I feel bad for Steve :P I'm a really big fan of him and house music is probably my biggest love. Ofcourse I know house excists out of samples 9 out of 10 times, but what's wrong with that? It's not really creative or original, but it's about the beat and the melody, if you ask me. It's about liking what we hear and can't stop listening to it, right?!
@MrLizTube exactly and its only the melody thats it plus he owns his own record label he knows who he is sampling.. so idont really see the big deal here...
@MrLizTube Rock music is also just a bunch of chords arranged in the proper order. So is Knas for example, the difference being that the samples replace the chords. I just love it when people say something isn't creative. Well if it's not, make your own song out of samples or make a better version or something. It's easy, isn't it?
Last sample to make this complete is the little "whoop" vox bit. It's taken from AVH "Witchdoctor". If that was in this vid the entire track would be complete.
@Fuccyootoo ok, standard progressive house is like the old deadmau5 tracks, or EDX..Axwell is mainly "vocal house" which is a bit different, and yes "I found u", "watch the sunrise" "sweet disposition(axwell & dirty south remix)", "IN THE AIR(axwell remix)..and the list goes on...these are actually pretty creative.
I'm such a fucking noob. I wish I was like Steve Angello. So talented & pro.

papanunzi 1 year ago
@papanunzi i like the track, but having looked through the sample pack i got really dissapointed. this really just changed my view of steve angello
dunno if seb and axwell do the same
cuz if they do, i'm still a fan of "their" music. just not THEM.

Last sample to make this complete is the little "whoop" vox bit. It's taken from AVH "Witchdoctor". If that was in this vid the entire track would be complete.

Well who thought SHM was creative in the first place anyway?

@Fuccyootoo apparently you haven't heard of axwell!
DJhashish16490 1 year ago
@DJhashish16490 and apparently you think making standard progressive house is "creative, sorry to hear that
Fuccyootoo 1 year ago
@Fuccyootoo haha, it's clear that you have no idea what you are talking about...
Felixandsammy 1 year ago
@Fuccyootoo ok, standard progressive house is like the old deadmau5 tracks, or EDX..Axwell is mainly "vocal house" which is a bit different, and yes "I found u", "watch the sunrise" "sweet disposition(axwell & dirty south remix)", "IN THE AIR(axwell remix)..and the list goes on...these are actually pretty creative.

Ouch. Really painful to hear he didn't create this loop from scratch. Skip to 1:24 if you want to see what all the fuss is about.
