They really should upgrade the difficulty of a lot of these. I mean of course people aren't going to do interesting mounts if they aren't rewarded. I think all of these should at least go up one letter.
@aftermath9012 It doesnt hurt if youre trained because the bars are a little flexible theyre not like iron bars XD if you have good body tension its the same as sitting down and well bouncing off again XD
@MostepanovaFan DO you know if Round-Off Arabian mount to handstand on low-bar is in the code book? It was done in "Make it or break it" by Kayle Cruz and seemed really cool. If you can find anything, then can you post it in youtube?
A few of these I think wouldn't be possible any more, given the distance between the high and low bars (mostly the ones where the gymnast approaches from the low bar and needs to clear it to get to the high bar) but it would be lovely if more complicated mounts became popular again.
i like the video , I wasnt really anygood at doing mounts on bars but i sure could rock a double front dismount though. One skill i would love to see competed is a one and half twist handstand catch to the lowbar instead of the regular half twist catch. That is the skill i was working on when i got hurt and had to quit gymnastics. I wanted it to be named after me but in order to do that you have to compete the skill in a national meet. I didnt make it, so bummer! I would love to see it done.
@huntasoup part of the problem is that people want to save energy for the big skills, and since the mount isn't required to count in the score, most people to glide kips.sorta sad how redundant it looks today ;(
There absolutely should be extra points for doing a B or C mount.
Kip to stoop through - surely the bar transfer isn't A-level?! I still can't find that transfer in the CoP.
And the kip with straddle cut - I wonder if that is a release move. The gymnast doesn't go far from the bar, but she does release, and I don't see any place where the COP says that doesn't count. It would be the easiest release move ever, but...
Aha, I laughed so hard at "Could all current gymnasts take note: the glide kip, straddle vault and jump to high bar are not the only options"
I think we'll see even MORE unoriginal mounts since only 8 skills count now. Unless a gymnast can perform a D or E mount consistently they'll probably just use an easy one to avoid losing points.
They should have to. It would be such a simple way to encourage more interesting work. If someone wants to count an A, they would make more of a decision that way.
No, if you do a difficult mount and it was in the top 8 skills then it would count, but if you do an easy mount that is not in the top 8 skills then it wouldn't count. What they are saying is that they should count the mount towards the start value.
@bubblesandbackflips No, the code only specifies "The maximum 8 highest difficulties including the dismount are counted for DV." Also, you probably just made a typing error, but there is no c-score (just d for difficulty score and e for execution).
@mseastbay I think she means that it does not have to be included in the group of elements that count for a difficulty score if it is not one of the most difficult elements. Like if everything else is d or e level, but the mount is a, there won't be an a in the score. Does that make sense or am I being a weirdo?
@bunbacheso Well I understand what you're saying, but if you DID choose a mount that was a C (for example), then you would have met one of your required C skills by using that mount. Maybe she's saying that by the time you fulfill your other requirements, you have enough difficulty that you don't need another valuable element. I guess if you do all of the direction changing, release skills, bar changes, etc, you don't need a hard mount!
WOW! thank you for this montage!! It would be so nice to see some of these mounts make a comeback since they are very cool. I especially love the salto onto the bars ones and the handstand onto the bars. They are exciting to watch and much more innovative than what the gymnasts these days do. Thanks again!
Refreshing... nowadays is just one mount... and a bunch of release moves from the high bar... so the low bar nowadays is pretty much just for mounting.
I love these - thank you so much. Im bored bored bored with world class gymnasts doing a kip mount on bars! You should send this to all their coaches!
I love 1:33 it's difficult but it's also very fun

Is the mount a required element (they have to count the score of the mount)?
ApolytonGP 2 years ago
No they don't have to count it (which is probably why so many people do glide kips)
MostepanovaFan 2 years ago
They should have to. It would be such a simple way to encourage more interesting work. If someone wants to count an A, they would make more of a decision that way.
ApolytonGP 2 years ago 3
does this mean that some times they might not add the value of your mount to your start value??? if thats what it means that would suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
StephAndChelc 2 years ago
No, if you do a difficult mount and it was in the top 8 skills then it would count, but if you do an easy mount that is not in the top 8 skills then it wouldn't count. What they are saying is that they should count the mount towards the start value.

@bubblesandbackflips No, the code only specifies "The maximum 8 highest difficulties including the dismount are counted for DV." Also, you probably just made a typing error, but there is no c-score (just d for difficulty score and e for execution).
