  • Hey jim you should make a video of your tank if you have one bet its awesome

  • hey B, check out Episodes 43 and 53

  • if the owner did set the tank up maybe you could get ahold of him and ask if you could take an update video or he make a video and post it. or maybe show us in the right direction if you know if he has put a video up of the tank? that would be awesome!

  • hey F, that owner has not set the tank up...i doubt if he ever will as its been sitting there for years.

  • @lafishguy dang that sucks. well hopefully he will sell it and that person will hire you to set it up.

  • OMG That is one big tank

  • Comment removed

  • Hey Jim, With that lame excuse to NOT set up a 1,000 Gallon reef tank, (Cause only a knucklehead would set up a 1,000 gallon reef without having at-least $10,000 for it) I know what this customer is up to. He hired Condy just to give him an idea as how a professional would set this tank up, lighting wise, filtration wise, aquascaeing ect ect. Then after he got his basic info, make up a lame excuse, and do it himself. I am sorta in the koi pond business, and this happened to me too often.

  • hey A, no idea. all I know is Cande traded polishing the tank for some Lakers tickets and the owner is in the limo business..

  • Bummer i was really looking forward to seeing this tank finshed :(

  • dont make a saltwater aquarium if u dont have enough money..

  • hey jim what ever became of the MONSTER 1000 gallon aquarium?

  • hey T, customer ran out of money

  • @lafishguy hey man it happens. it's hard to believe but it is very easy to sink 6,000-7,000 dollars in a simple 100 gallon system. so i'm sure the cost of a monster system like this is nothing short of HUGE. anyway like you always say keep moving forward.

  • Did the tank ever get setup? was looking forward to a new video on it, And how you guys fixed the stand for the large tank

  • hey 9, customer ran out of money

  • Hey! at around 6:49 what is that grouper called? Thank you

  • hey 9, its a Calico Grouper.

  • @lafishguy Thanks a lot!

  • I really cant wait for part 2. I hope the owner gets some more money and gets it finished of its going to look amazing i cant wait to see it finished.

  • Is part two ever going to come out?

  • hey J, yeah...when the customer gets more money.

  • do you have any ideas on a clean up crew for a tank that has a puffer fish in it (saddle puffer) its like 3 inches long

  • hey B, the puffer is the reason you need the clean-up crew. he eats lots of food that creates the nutrients that encourage the algae growth, yes?. a Crew will only get eaten by the puffer. consider a different approach to nutrient control, such as Algae Scrubbing or Bio Pellets.

  • @lafishguy thanks man thats why i came to you, but could i do a starfish or an urchin of some kind?

  • hey B, i am sure your Puffer will enjoy either!

  • wheres part 2?

  • what's the thickness of an acrylic tank that large? What about cost...gotta be 5 figures easy.

  • hey H, Not sure, I just quoted a 400 gallon acrylic bowfront 96x42x30 in 1 inch material and that was $8700

  • Do you guys smoke right b4 you decide to make a video?

  • You said the customer ran out of money, is that the end of this tank?

  • hey M, it is not my service account, it is Cande's so I have no idea whats going on with it. apparently his customer does not have the money to continue.

  • Aww it seemed like a good vid series

  • Wheres part two

  • hey T, there is no part two, that customer ran out of money.

  • How much do you think this tank will cost in the end of it all

  • Where's part 2?

  • I need a bigger tank, 3 ,4 + years with a 65.

  • hey W, visit MyFishTanDOTcom for a line of acrylic aquariums.

  • Still no part two jim what's going on ????????

  • im so happy to se those comercials in your videos thats means jim is "moving foward"in the business and i wish him all the sucess in the world ...he deserves...

  • Part 2 is coming next fall in 2022!

  • Were is part 2 Jim

  • Its been months , wheres part 2222222222222

  • Hey Jim when do you think you will be able to get the next segment of this build uploaded? thanks

  • hey M, its not even filmed yet. waiting for money to buy equipment.

  • Condy or however you spell his name looks like Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge.

  • Someone front the owner money so we can see the next episode already. Why a 1000 Gal tank and no money. Wth

  • it must cost a lot in salt?? i cant even keep a 80gallon tank water clear ? filter floss and carbon and water changes any other advice? cheers

  • hey D, floss? that angel hair stuff? maybe you should consider a canister filter?

  • Thanks for documenting this build, Jim. It's not often that we (those of outside of the business) get to see a big tank being built. I'm looking forward to parts 2, 3, 4...

  • part 2 part 2 part 2 !!

  • part 2 !

  • will u be at macna the hole time

  • hey M, all three days

  • You need HD! Sell a frag or something...buy one!

  • Strange this just popped up that you posted it an hour ago? Oh well, I watched it again! =D

  • when is the next epi?

  • where can i find videos 1,2,3,4,5,..... it seems to start at around 40 something

  • hey S, musical rights issue, so you will have to come to MACNA and see tte Best of the Original 35 or wait until I redo the music in them.

  • waiting.......

  • Hey Jim I'm so excited to see how this tank comes out.....

  • hey good buddy jim wen is this tank gonna be ready becasue i hav a 1500 gallon tank waiting to be up and ready

  • hey G, when Cande's customer comes up with some more money.

  • @lafishguy ok so its gonna be long state

  • Been gathering great info for my own reef tank from you. Can't wait to see the progress on this episode. Great vids.

  • awesome! cant wait to see it!!

  • Hey jim get to work on this tank love you man.

  • Jim, love when you and Cande team up, looks like he is getting better in front of a camera.

  • Jeees where's part 2! This waiting for vids is a nightmare. Jim you should put the set of vids out at the same time! Thumbs up anybody?

  • hey D, you need to be patient. some episodes are complete multi-parts and some are done as progress occurs.

  • @lafishguy Sorry Jim i hear were your coming from i just need my Lafishguy fix! :)

  • hey D, there are five new ones in the works.

  • @lafishguy Awesome,Thanks Jim

  • love the tank! stand scary as hell!! better get an engineer to sign off on it before you get blamed for the disaster.......

  • Jim, love your videos----very entertaining, informative and I hope to see you on Animal Planet one of these days! Keep up the great work!

  • Hey jim. Along with the question about LEDs. Why did scott (guy from ep. 99) go with LEDs? Since he has them set up to run the cycle of the sun from morning to night then wouldnt it have been even cheaper if he went with a solartube verses LEDs that replaced the MH??? That would have been free energy and the soffet above his tank would have had enough room to put it in.

  • hey X, Scott has a two story house so no means of adding solar tubes. also, his interest in electronics draws him to the LED's.

  • Hey Jim, ever service or install any large freshwater tanks?

  • hey M, its been years since I worked on FW

  • Jim, do you have any clients with LED's, and if so,are they happy with them? I'm a MH guy!

  • hey S, see episode 99, in particular the later half of the part six. less energy, much less heat.

  • Were is part 2 Jim

  • Ok thanks jim. Ill set it up and let u know how its going.

  • @lafishguy jim im sorry for not explaining. I meant a coral only tank by saying no fish no inverts just live rock and corals. Since there is no fish to produce ammoina will the cycle fail or will it just be a low bio-load. i have been in the saltwater hobby for 5 years now and have had mixed tanks with fish/coral/ and inverts, but hate nitrates and all the problems that come with it like algea and diatoms. So saying that i was wondering if i could set up a display tank in my house with live roc

  • hey X, i am sure there will still be a small bioload and a bio-filter is going to develope anyhow. it just adapts to the wasteload. corals produce waste and the rock produces ( or equalizes ) waste and I would still expect some basic algae growth. that job I did in Wyoming they experienced an alage problem before they added any fish. i also doubt if you could resist adding a fish or two, and you should have some maintenance type fish anyhow.

  • Hey jim. I was wondering if Kent Marine Liquid Calicum is just as good as using a calicum reactor? And also is it possible to have a coral only tank? I have a 125g that i was thinking of making a coral only. If so how do you keep the bio-load going and not crashing and having to recycle your tank again?

  • hey X, i dont think its the same. the only liquid calcium supplement I would consider using would be the 2-part B-Ionics. not sure what you mean by "coral only". corals typically are grown on some sort of rock foundation and its called a reef tank. the rock being used is 'live' and thats what offers the biological filtration. I think you need to get yourself a good reef book before you start spending money on a coral-only tank

  • Hey Jim,

I was wondering how much a UV sterilizer helps with algae? I have heard of using them to kill parasites and things like that, but do they cut down on cyanobacteria?

  • hey R, i would NOT expect a UV unit to solve any algae or cyano problems.

  • hey I, 125 gallons, see Episode 53

  • I was just wondering which brand of ich medicine you use for reef tanks? A friend of mine with a 125g has a kole tang and a few others with it, and I recall you in a previous episode using half doses several hours apart (or some substantial time frame) to treat the entire tank.

Love the vids, find them very helpful. Oh, and I almost forgot to subscribe!

  • hey @, i use SeaChem Cuprimine but you can not use this in a reef tank. copper based medications will kill most inverts and corals. unfortunately there are no good reef medications. you may have to use garlic, or a reef medication that uses garlic.

  • @lafishguy Ah okay, thank you very much. Seems I was mistaken :P. I guess I'll just tell him to treat the fish separately and use garlic/some immune booster in the tank.

  • Hey jim. I was wondering if i brought my LA fishguy shirt to the convention in Iowa in september if you could autograph it? Also have you ever heard of hard ward etching glass? like turning clear glass to frosted glass. if so how do you fix it?

  • hey X, sure I will sign it ( makes note to bring Sharpie pen along to MACNA ). not sure if I understand the question, but if you know how to polish glass it can be done. i dont know how but I am sure a Glass Shop does.

  • hey I, if someone wanted to pay me to a 1000 gallon freshwater tank I would.

  • is there going to be a update video on this tank coming up?

  • hey 99, i did say at the end of the video there would be updates.

  • hi jim

i like to ask you what you think about Micron sock's.. i got a Aqueon Proflex #4 sump. and it had 3 micron sock's with it on the first part. can a sock be a form of biologocal filter?

  • hey C, micron socks are considered mechanical filtration and do a good job at trapping out small particles. once the small particles are gone you can remove the sock as its done its job. given enough time and debri it will begin to clogged and then water will bypass it. yes, it can become biologically active, which is NOT what it was intended for.

  • I thought my 120 gallon was big but I thought wrong and I obviously thought wrong when I miss-judged the size of the tank compared to the size of the front door. My question is how the fuck did they get the tank into the house?

  • hey J, lifted through double doors on the tongues of a forklift.

  • When is part 2 Jim

  • This tank is going to be awesome

  • Hey Jim,

So when can we expect part 2??? I understand this tank is being built as we speak but cant wait to see filtration portion of the build. This should have been a shark tank even though a reef is awesome....

  • hey, I'm 15 and I love your show! My family is setting up a 180 Gallon reef tank soon, but I was wondering, when this tank is done, will you make a video if it? Shame he isn't using it for a shark or two :P

  • hey P, the idea behind the show is Los Angeles based aquarium service guys, but thanks for offering :)

  • @lafishguy no i was wondering when the 1000 gallon tank is completely done will you show it, not my tank sorry :P

  • hey P, yes, definately, as those updates and opportunities come along.

  • How long did it take to setup this aquarium? Has he put any live things yet in it

yet? Also you have great videos

  • hey G, its not running yet. Cande just finished polishing the tank, he is now waiting for more cash to go to the next step.

  • hello jim,

i have a 90g reef tank and now i have got this rose bubble tip anemone but i already have this purple base brown tentacle anemone ( not quite sure of its name) , a pair of True Percula Clownfish is hosting this anemone, is it safe to keep both these anemone in the same tank ???

  • hey 3, if they are different species its quite likely they will sting each other. if you try it then watch them carefully and be prepared to remove the new one if there is problems.... better yet, give the Rose to a friend with a proper tank and be happy with your current anemone and clownfish.

  • great tank, cant wait to see more up dates on this one. congrats on 100 episodes!!!

  • Hey Jim, congratulations on reaching 100 episodes! Hope there will be another 100 to follow, been leaning a lot and can't wait for the next upload, keep up the good work.

  • I wish I had the money to get a 1000 gallon tank up ad running.

    Grats jim keep em comin

  • that guys looks goofy like a crack head lol . lol by the way that tank will leak 1000 gallons on a bad stand will leak if not soon . in the future trust me

  • Hey Jim don't listen to this idiots complaining about the commercials, your videos are awesome.

  • hey L, thank you

  • @lafishguy Your welcome and hey if you ever want me to help you film an episode, my Canon prosumer camcorder is waiting for you. Let me know, I would love to be apart of the la fish guys crew! :)

  • @LuckyBambooExpert agree.

  • keep up the good work Jim!..really enjoy and learn alot for your vids..thanks for all the info!

  • hey Jim i absolutely love how this build is shaping up...... keep up the gud work...... i hope those idiots dont make it bad for us because without your videos, reefing will become a lot more difficult and boring..... so again keep up the gud work....... am enjoying and learning from everyone of them...... thx a million buddy

  • hey B, you are welcome :)

  • Congrats on episode 100! Awesome as always

  • Stop complaining farthead the videos are awesome

  • 100 episodes.... awesome job on every one produced i look forward to more.

  • awsome cant wait to see more!!!

  • lol the long as advertisment sucked... hope they paid you for that shit lol

  • hey H, as a matter of fact the Age Of Aquarium commercial is a paid project, the MACNA promo is to help promote MACNA and LA Fishguys at MACNA, and the Reef Hobbyist commecial was in trade for the promotional article of LA Fishguys that appeared in their recent issue. appearantly vendors like and see the potential in LA Fishguys as well, so get use to the commercials as I am actively pursueing them and need that financing to contine to produce more LA Fishguys episodes.

  • @lafishguy not that the comercial was a problem... i just think it should have been put at the end because it was quite an interuption. Goodluck i really enjoy your videos, so if you need the funding then ill watch the commercials.

  • @HospitalWaste You don't have to watch them. Just fast forward and thats its...

  • @HospitalWaste Oh god just shut up, no one cares what you think about the commercials.

  • @HospitalWaste Nice going dude, now Jim will probably block you. Your so stupid.

  • @LuckyBambooExpert think i give a fuck about jim?? it doesnt sound like hes hit puberty yet

  • @HospitalWaste Wow, just another troll. Your such a loser.

  • @HospitalWaste click ahead passed the commercial's you idiot! its not that hard, and i sure hope jim is making buck off this! he does a great job! if you dont like it dont watch, guuuuuh...keyboard warriors.....and he even took the time to respond too!

    thanx alot jim!

  • You the man Jim, keep it up.

  • I am not sure but I don't think the LED's are going to reach the bottom very well. Cree lighting is strong but it seems like the home owner might have to use the ecosmart pedants

  • You guys have had good results regarding growth out of SPS with LEDs? Ive had no such luck yet...just excellent colour. Any idea as to how many Aquaray units you'll be using over that tank? I assume you're using the 120w model. Anyways, awesome vid as usual, look forward to seeing the finished tank! You should look into Discovery Channel as well, cheers

  • hey M, while I am convinced that LED Lighting offers greater and multiple economical savings I have no experience using them with SPS. there is an upcoming episode that also features Cande and a 300 gallon mixed LPS and SPS Reef tank that he is successful with, also using tap water, and those Aqua Ray LED Lighting units. I dont know how much he is planning on placing over this tank.

  • at 7:50 Hey Thats a tank we haven't seen on LA fish guys! Will we be getting a video of that Jelliquarium anytime soon?

  • hey T, coming next episode.

  • @lafishguy Great, it look a bit like that jelliquarium you set up at that restaurant many years ago...

  • hey T, yes, same 48 inch size.

  • Great video and great series!

  • im excited to see how this goes!!!!!!! i wish i had the $ to do this haha

  • That is going to be one WILD tank , I can't wait to see the other video's on it. Just looking under the tank do you guys think there is enuff saport ? it don't look all that strong to hold 1000 gallons and the rock. Something to think about. Anyways like I said that will be a NICE tank once it's done, can't wait!!!!

  • hey 99, Supposedly the stand has been re-enforced. i have suggested filling the tank with freshwater first as a test. I guess we will find out over time.

  • OMG, WOW, That is an amazing task, Lovely setup, I can picture it already. Cant wait for future videos. The Led's alone sound Amazing. I would for sure have a diving suit on the purchase list. thumbs up for sure

  • So when is the next episode? This is a very exciting build! I wish I could get a 1000 gallon to fit through my front door! LOL!!!

  • this is going to be a great build

  • NO HD!!!

  • hey S, yeah something has gone wrong in that regard. i do know there is a huge drop in quality in the footage out of the camera and into the editing software. I dont think I have changed any of the settings, I do think its a lack of proper lighting.

  • Excellent & exciting video Jim. I cannot wait to see the progress :D "Is it built yet?" lol

  • hey K, the tank has been polished out and I know the stand was addressed, but I think wrongly. last I hear he was waiting for money to purchase the rock.

  • you need some scuba equipment lol

  • hey 0, it will be interesting to see how he services that tank :)

  • when I die I would like to come back as a fish and live in that tank.

  • fecking HUGE tank!

  • this is going to be great tank.

  • Finnaly episode 100, been looking forward to watching you guys build this. Good luck!

  • I think that guy is high,

  • omg i can't wait i need more episode's lets go i do not want to wait anymore

  • man i was sooo excited to see this buid

  • Comment removed

  • hey W, then stop watching.

  • @lafishguy most likely will and judging by all the thumbs up i got alot of others will as well. the videos have morphed form a really cool reality style aquarium show to more of just one giant advertisement for you and your companies. "animal planet what are you waiting for". Haha good luck with that.

  • hey W, it amazes me that after all the questions I have answered for you that you can be so selfish and snide. I guess I am suppose to continue to produce episodes and never benifit or profit from it, especially in this tough economy when its the only one of those companies producing results. what you fail to see is the growth in many directions that the show has become, at the very least in my own ability. if it was not for my own businesses there would not be an LA Fishguys show! goodbye.

  • @wiifan62 Your just jealous because you can't make money by making YouTube videos. No one cares what you think about the commercials. People can't work their ass off and produce videos to get peanuts in return, its all about the money! And the more anybody can get I say more power to them. So keep up the good work Jim and ignore these stupid idiots. Your videos are perfect and always entertaining to watch. And as for wiifan62, like I said no one cares about your stupid comment.

  • @wiifan62 And as you can see there are more thumbs up on the video then your stupid little comment. So if you don't like Jims videos, don't watch them. No one wants to hear your little whiny bitchy comments.
