Been down there just today. East end is open for all and now coliery is open to anybody. Got to the column of junk and a couple of us carried on after that. After the column they've tried to fill it up but there was enough room on top to get another 200+ metres until the 3rd ventilation shaft where its been used for rubbish again. The west end is at the back of the 1st A+W scout hut (I should know I used to go there myself) but that is completely blocked over, theres not even the portal.
@cheytab Went down that end 2day it is completely blocked of now, you wouldn't even know that trains ever went down there. We climbed over the fence with total ease with some funny looks from passers by lol. As for the end you can get in, friends of mine climbed through as far as possible but breathing became tough so they had to turn back, pointless exploring the end you cant see really was just something to pass the time.
@richardsnow , soz bwt l8 reply, there used to be an enternce on gedling collery think its blocked up now, ive been down there quite regularly recently and took our 1st walk down it about 2 months ago, we seldom went 2 far in the younger days, being kids and all that, so we finally got the courage lol, could you possably send me the link on a map or somthing so i can see where the other end comes out, ino its been blocked up now but i would love to know where the other end was, cheers
i went walking down this today with my friend, up the the point of the second ventilation shaft filled with rubbish that you can see at 1:32, the two ventilation shafts you go past are on my scout ground (called pepperpots), so i just had to find the entrance and have a look. dark and scary!
Yes, hundreds! He had a fascination for the Nottingham Suburban Railway in particular, but photographed steam all over the country. He grew up in Woodthorpe, Nottm, and had a railway at the top of his garden, climbing out of Daybrook station.

How do you get to this tunnel? Been searching everywhere but no one gives directions/road names!
goihtn56 2 years ago
@goihtn56 Copy and Paste this in2 google maps > 52.990004, -1.099577
This will pinpoint exactly where the tunnel is
