We descended from Africa so naturally, we have carried on tradition. HWVR, the music is not "directly" African. it's no more directly African than the food we eat. The Steel Pan Drum ..for example was invented in Trinidad....the invention of steel pan created a new sound that is distinctly Trinidadian....but we can agree to disagree. @streetnewz chill bro. that wasn't a slight at African music... I love how similar the music is and I certainly appreciate and acknowledge that West Indian and Hispanic music has it's roots in African music. We descended from Africa so naturally, we have carried on tradition. HWVR, the music is not "directly" African. it's no more directly African than the food we eat. We've inherited our soul and rhythm from our ancestors...but we have also tweaked it along the way too.

@TheCandyapplebum who you telling, im from the caribbean, and I disagree, i think its the same shit in a different langauge. Im from the Dominican Republic, and we do merengue urbano, it has these same melodies with a little spanish influence...but i always knew it was african.

@streetnewz I'm Trini, Jamaican and Venezuelan so I can speak on it too. it's not the same thing...but definitely strongly influenced by African music. The Steel Pan Drum ..for example was invented in Trinidad....the invention of steel pan created a new sound that is distinctly Trinidadian....but we can agree to disagree. We're basically saying the same thing, anyway.

It looks very sexy to me, but not degrading. This video says to me that sex is a beautiful thing that we should not be ashamed of. It is to be enjoyed, not used as a tool of power or manipulation. @maputo08 what I did liked to tell you was that not all african dancing is bodyshaking but even in the dances the women or men shakes the body they do not feel degrad. You tell me that you are halv indian and as I know so has many form of indian dances components you could understand/misunderstand as sexual degrading. It is depend of the eyes who looks at the dance.I can be agree that exactly the vaval can be to much but keep looking for other forms of african danses,it is beautyful
