  • Mission Control is so much better

  • I downgrade my Mac just for this amazing feature.

  • Steve Jobs was so cool.

  • Please bring this back to Lion.

  • BRING THIS BACK NOW!!!!!

    AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH

  • Derps - Expose is still in Lion ._.

  • @RocketCatDK But they added a feature called "Windows Overlapping like in Windows 7 so that you don't find the one you're looking for"

  • Why does this scream "Sect"?

  • The single feature which ultimately led me to fall in love with my PowerBook G4 :-)

  • R.I.P Steve Jobs.

  • SUCK A DICK!!

  • i whant this in LION !!!!!!!

  • Exposé is just brilliant.

  • Photoshope... LOL.

  • I'm sticking with Snow Leopard because i think Lion is moving away from Apple's core values of Simplicity, Elegance and Minimalism.

  • @mellowman1001 I'd agree with that. I don't like the iOS-ifcation of mac os x now. But I'll upgrade sooner or later.

  • Predavanje kao za decu u drugi razred a svi se raduju kao deca iz nizeg razreda............

  • One of the reasons why I switched to Mac. Could you hear them cheering after the first demo. It hurts so much to see them pervert this dream with mission control. Lion took away all of that apple "magic" that made their systems a pleasure to use. I had to go back to snow leopard to get this back. And the sad part is when I am able to afford a new imac I will be forced to use lion and that may force me to go to windows 8. Having the god awful ribbon interface shoved down my throat is the lesser

  • Easily one of the best reasons to buy a Mac.

  • I like Mission Control. But when I have a lot of windows open from the same app it's nearly impossible to tell which window is which. Sure, you can do a gesture to take a closer look at each of the windows... but it just doesn't work all that well. It would be better if the gesture used to take a closer look at windows activated App Exposé.

  • Can't see why they messed with Expose in OSX Lion.

  • Good old times :(

  • Haha I didn't realise the shift key could make it minimise in slow motion. I just spent the last few minues being much too amused by this :P

  • Why in gods name would they remove this in Lion, it's crazy.

I feel that Jobs just trolled all of us. Makes us use this for 4 years, and then yanks it aways for something that stacks all the window one over the other, preventing you to see anything..

  • Expose is so good!

So why did Apple let the bug in Lion that breaks it stay in the final release, and now they won't acknowledge Expose is broken by the bug, let alone fix this serious bug!

  • I want this back in Lion -.-

  • @ddjsvieira It works fine right now

  • @ddjsvieira Dashboard replaces this.

  • @ddjsvieira This is still in OS X Lion.

    It's called the F-keys! (F9, F10, F11).

  • @Palmer640 Mission Control is nowhere as good as the exposé for all windows, it's cluttered and slow.

  • @frunchzz Well, chances are it's slow for you because you put 10.7 on a slower system...

And it overlaps windows, yeah, but it overlaps them to group separate windows open with the same program.

I'm just saying, it's still there. Frankly, I'm no OS X fanboy, so I don't really care about it that much.

  • @Palmer640

    It's not the same.

When you hit 'app expose' it shows you every window of the app, whereas in Spaces+Expose you could divide on 2 levels. If you have 64 windows of one type open, seeing ALL at once is useless, they're too small. So you divide it up into screens, and have say 4 screens of 16. Doing expose on each screen is fine. All they have to do is NOT bundle the current desk if there's only one app and it would be ok.

  • Windows 7 has Expose.

  • @manco82

    Umm.. no...

  • windows rulez :D

  • the expose is jst a copy of windows 7

  • @icguilty umm. read the fucking description. It says 2003 dumbass. That's BEFORE Windows 7 existed. Before Vista.

  • @icguilty imbecil

  • Very Nice. But u solve stability Issue, there is more more broken disc, data loss. this issue come with ur os. or u do some new to show up the client then when they buy ur sht. now the new panter jst burn down ur pc.

  • i have Lion installed, and i gonna be honest, i find Exposé and Spaces way better than Mission Control :S

  • I came to the Mac in 2006 (original MacBook Pro) and I don't know how I could have lived in a pre-Exposé world!

  • Expose is by far my favorite feature in Mac OS X (right now) lol. Microsoft did not come out with a similarity in Windows till Vista in 2007. And people say Microsoft is ahead of the curve. I think not.

  • Welcome it to iOS 5

  • Ahh... Scale one of my favorite Compiz effects... Oh wait it's on Macs now? Just half a decade behind...

  • Do you want to get louder volume on your mac? Increase you volume by 43%!!! Watch my volume hack at my channel. Really work!!!

  • Hold you shift key for slow mode

  • desktop expose is my fave

  • why doesnt windows have a physical button i can press instead of moving the mouse and clicking 3d aero or whatever its called or pressing 3 keys to change windows?

  • It's called Exposé,

  • I love having a lot of windows open, just for expose and on windows, the Flip 3D

  • how do you slow mo your expose?

  • @leandrodafontoura hold on shift and press expose

  • Прекрасно !

  • The new Mission Control in Lion looks promising, though it is basically a more organized, logical form of Expose that allows for full-screen apps. The iPad swiping function looks very nice as well - functional yet sleek and fun.

  • Wow, I think Microsoft just incorporated this in Windows 7. How original.

    Way to be ahead Microsoft!

  • @fnawesomewes no they had similar things in xp

  • I wonder if there will ever be another interface innovation from Apple that gets such a reception. I love Exposé and couldn't do without it. I know, it's all about touch these days, that's more of an input device innovation.

  • @praevius its not innovative at all. Windows has had a show desktop button forever that works teh same and this other thing that works like expose for awhile now.

  • @cakelover33 I was of course commenting on innovation like Exposé, which is eight years old. There hasn't really been anything new regarding desktop functions since that time, apart from touch which I already mentioned. The 'show desktop' functionality of Windows and Exposé cannot be compared. The windows manager that was introduced in Vista owes a lot to Exposé.

  • @praevius Its basically made what windows had more "stylish" and when windows puts style into there stuff everyone says there copying mac.

  • WOW!! His voice is so different

  • Jobs. please work with pc companies for people who cant afford mac. you know you become more rich.

  • @psyjunta Look, apple has a central uninstaller that companies can use. Pretty much always if any files are in the application support folder or somewhere else, they will . But most of the time they are contained in the icon. The uninstaller is contained in the folder that the app is.

  • @psyjunta Uninstalling a windows app takes forever, I use an app on my MacBook that I believe is called appcleaner or appzapper that I just drag in the app I want to uninstall, it finds all the external files of that app (usually there are not any) and deletes them. I can't remember the name because I almost never uninstall apps ;)

  • @psyjunta You are right but Novice users like Finder than Windows Explorer. Look I can drag my Application to the Trash. It is simple. You just uninstalled. Look at Windows Vista and Windows 7 Kernel, 8 GB, when Mac OS X takes about 5 GB. The Services Menu on Mac OS X is something worth envying, look at the utilities it offers.

  • is it me or did he gain wait

  • @mkpres123 this was before he got sick

  • Expose is the same function as a compiz plug-in!!!! Bleah!! and how much does a mac? And an old pc whit linux OS?

Bah i don't understand why people love a mac and despise linux

  • @Byhoork I love linux, but I use os x because it has mainstream apps (adobe creative suite, ALL GOOD browsers (not just chrome and firefox, also remember IE sucks!) iTunes, MS Office, etc) and seems to just work better for me. This is from 2003, was compiz around in 2003? Plus the Mac adds on to the linux finder, making it a little better but still shares the same basic stuff (much better then windows explorer.) Mac OS X is basically a refined linux (it is a unix os) with all your fav. apps.

  • @thatapplegeek it's true, photoshop does not work with linux and forces us to use either Windows or Mac.

But i don't understand the problem with the browser... I use, with linux, Opera, Chrome, Firefox and Ephyphany and work well (Ephyphany doesn't work with Mac, right? And Saphari doesn't work with Linux but he work with Wine).

Finally a Mac is linux better, but it costs three times and needs a powerful hardware.

In addition these functions have been copied from the effects of compiz

  • @Byhoork You pay for what you get in linux distros. OS X can do a lot more due to it being mainstream but costs more ($30 + slightly more expensive high quality hardware vs free +slightly less expensive but not as HQ as mac hardware). I use ubuntu and gOS on my netbook and I have OS X on my MacBook and iMac with dual boot to windows 7 for a few textbook apps that don't work on the mac (I live in MS territory, they probably get paid for it) I am planning to add chrome os to my macbook.

  • @Byhoork I just looked up when compiz was est., it was 2006, so they basically copied from apple

  • @thatapplegeek but the linux OS is free and compiz is a Window Manager that has many plug-in, some of which are similar to those Mace. The dockbar is a copy of the mac but is installed separately.

  • Someone really loves using the slow-mo! And boom! ^^

  • @psyjunta

How is the taskbar in Windows 7 any better than the dock in Mac OS? All it shows are the applications that are running and u have to mouse over to see a minuscule representation of the windows that belong to an application.

I find window management to be much easier in Mac OS with Expose & Spaces than in Windows.

Once u have 15 or 20 windows open, Windows becomes a mess but Mac OS can still manage with multiple desktops (spaces) and expose.

  • Why was he laughing so hard when he said he'd use Applescript to do it for him?

  • Нихуя не понял...

  • I would have to delete some windows before it gets that messy! But, expose has a GREAT purpose :)

  • Expose' is still one of the best UI features in OS X.

Every time I use windows I miss it...

  • damn i want to fuck OS X but i can't cuz it's software, not fisical ;_;

  • always the same clothes

  • LOVE apple.

  • photoshope

  • Badass....

  • mac sucks

  • Those fish appears in iPhone wallpaper! and Finding Nemo! What happens with Steve and that fish?

  • @nicolunacba they fuck eachother

  • Expose is still one of my all time favorite features of Mac OS X.

It is the epitome of user friendliness on the desktop in my view.

  • @fred9099 The Services menu is a great feature.

  • best feature EVER. I use this so many times a day

  • "Its like a gesture"

Now they actually have finger gestures.

  • @arf900 Interesting. I wonder if that was a bit of a slip. I'm sure Steve and Apple were secretly hard at work on touch interfaces at the time of this presentation. You wouldn't normally refer to a mouse movement as a "gesture".

  • @sottolaw

Opera (web browser) has mouse gesture since 2001. It's a common term and has nothing to do with touch interfaces.

  • SOOOOO MANY GEEKS!!!

  • @ashthepokemonmaster says the guy with pokemon in his name....lol

  • funny i don't remember expose on panther. o.O

  • hahaha! photoshope 0:29

  • I'm not a PC fanboy, I'm typing this on a Mac, but how is Exposé superior to the task bar? With the task bar, only one click is required to switch to any window. Exposé requires at least two inputs.

  • @RhoadsLivesOn ,not anymore.Newer mac computers have a button on it.Press it and click on the window.VOILA!!

  • @MegaMaster456 Wow that didn't answer my question at all. As I said, I use a Mac. On my MacBook, F9 shows all windows, but this is still two inputs (pushing the button, clicking on the window) to do a task that should be done with one (clicking on the taskbar).

  • @RhoadsLivesOn if you have a touch device (mighty mouse or macbook trackpad) you dont need any inputs, 4 fingers to engage, two fingers to navigate, 4 fingers to disengage, you dont have to click or press a button you can manipulate the entire system with your hand.

  • @RhoadsLivesOn Hello? I can easily terminate Explore.exe and no longer have access to the taskbar. Command+Tab is even faster than the taskbar.Alt+Tab will always be better than the taskbar. Mac OS 9 had a menu to switch applications.

  • Comment removed

  • Everyone starts shouting from 1:45.

  • His presentations are legendary!

  • ah Expose, one of my most fave feature in mac os x :)

  • @tronjhiem79 Expose, and spaces is one of best feature is Linux distribution OSes as well... Compiz effects

  • Did Jobs say "It's like a gesture"...

what gestures were back then in 2003?

  • These people are easily excited.

  • Photoshoep..? ;D

  • looks like you cant hide your browser when browsing youporn

  • I must admit that Apple hardware-accelerated the desktop much much sooner than MS implemented their Aero interface :-)

  • Jobs: Ready? (click) Ohh just like this

    Audience: ooooohhhh jizz...

  • Mac OS X Panther runs slow as hell on these eMacs..probably because there isn't decent maintenance for it; but in 4 years its never gotten a virus or crashed!!

  • windows steals too much ideas from Mac T_T

  • @yoonvsaechao And then makes them better.

  • @RXdash78 haha you wish.

  • photoshope

  • boom boom boom,....fuck this KDE hauls ass...

  • I allways knew that MAC OS is the best OS for my computer, now i'm sure about that!

  • hmmmmmmm, kinda looks like Aero on Windows 7. Looks like Microshit has been stealing again

  • @shuyin3210

    stop trolling.

    This was in 2003.

3 years before Windows Vista came out and just 2 years after Windows XP.

  • Why does it seem Apple is making everything and Microsoft is just copying?

  • @d1995a3

Why does it seem Linux, and BSD makes everything and Apple just is copying ?

  • Linux or BSD with Beryl/Compiz in 2003? Good joke

  • No not the effects but Mac OS is just a cheap copy of BSD, the core of the OS is BSD.... and the only two things Mac has going for it is Final Cut Pro , iLife other than that you can get just as good of software in Windows... and you get the rest like effects in BSD, and Linux... Just like Mac users use boot-camp.

  • @d1995a3 i've see this before apple came with it..

  • No you didn't

  • @patrick10001

Linux had the 3D cube, and Water effects before the Mac.... Now Mac has SmackBook 3D cube and LiquidMac

  • @maw88ify

3D cube and water effects are just eye candy. A spinning cube looks nice but u can't see all your desktops at once. With expose&spaces on a Mac u need 2 mouse gestures to see all your windows and desktops on one screen.

But I guess there must be similar features for Linux GUIs.

  • @Molo9000 Yes there is it called EXPO in Linux, and it's the same thing Spaces on Mac... and it has Linux has "Elisa Media Center" that is like Mac's Front row ... Linux has the the Magic Lamp effect ... and many other thing that are on the Mac...

  • Please subscribe to my youtube channel and suggest to me some ideas on my next youtube video. It is all up to the viewers you are the ones who make the decision.

  • @MrThe4millers here's an idea. stop spamming.

  • At the back, a few MSFT employees are sitting and clapping... "Yey! We have new ideas to copy!"

  • I love how he got a bigger applause for Expose than iPad =D

  • There was an abnormal silence through all the iPad keynote actually

  • what is he laughing at at 1:11 ? I don't understand...

  • PC Users applaud at features that were taken from Apple and Other, the applause goes to those who innovated not to those who copied

  • @nextstep333 Copying of Ideas go both ways. They are as guilty as each other.

Time is interpretation of Microsoft Shadow Copies.

The Finder Sidebar in Panther came two years after Windows XP, a simple feature taken for granted. Even back and forward buttons!

I still find it amazing to this day the attitude of Mac users at a Mac event to people with Microsoft products. It's like blasphemy. You could have a standard technology event and no one would bat an eyelid because you have a mac.

  • @Gr33nMamba correction, the side bar derived from Mac OS X's shelf, which derived from NeXTSTEP, as for the Forward and Backward, these deigns derived from Mosaic Web browser. I too have a PC, it is not running Windows. Mac OS X is better than Windows, in terms of security, no don't be misled by UNIX, UNIX has vulnerabilities, just not on the scale of Windows.

  • @nextstep333 Amen brother, lol.

  • @MaestroBLC Don't Amen me, Amen those who inovated, I am just giving out the facts.

  • @nextstep333 I was joking.

  • @nextstep333 That's nice, I'll be enjoying my games, better hardware, and straight sexuality.

  • @Sticky1254 Sexuality has nothing to do with computers, get a book and read before posting comments like this on YouTube.

  • @nextstep333 Macs have a higher demographic of gays and obnoxious hipsters, but that's besides the point. they still have lesser hardware and a boring unix system.

  • @Sticky1254 Mac are used in the media, studios, and the music industry. Desktop Publishing is predominantly Mac based.

  • @nextstep333 That's why a mac pro uses terrible GPU's compared to PC workstations, right? And the only reason it's used in those situations is because of protools and final cut. Photoshop can run just as well, actually, even better on a Windows/Linux based PC. Actually, even Linux can do some serious publishing with open source solutions. Macs are not really predominant due to superiority, it's only because the OS is easier to use at the sacrifice of compatibility and upgradeabilty.

  • @Sticky1254 You already established yourself as a douchebag gamer. You don't know shit, so shut the fuck up.

  • @vantageIIx My job says I do know shit. And I do game, but I also am a power user in other areas. Sorry I'm not an artsy little faggot who buys Foxconn abortions called macs because they look nice.

  • @Sticky1254 What the fuck is your job anyway? By your comments you've established the fact that you are homophobic, conservative, play games at home all day, and are a complete douche. I don't think your arguments hold up.

  • @Sticky1254 To each his own.

  • @Sticky1254 But why bring sexuality into this? Are you Homophobic? Let me remind you that the Gay and Lesbians are one of the hardest working people. You are an example on how intolerance has spread in your country, the US.

  • @nextstep333 It's part of the joke, and I don't honestly care.

  • @nextstep333 Now Mac is basically a PC...

  • @nextstep333

    Apple copied from xerox dickhead!!!!

  • @TowfiqTheBrown Yes but Xerox did not sell their product in numbers that they hope to sell, so basicly Xerox sold the "kitchen" sink to Apple. Apple happily took the offer and marketed the Macintosh System Software 1.0 and Finder 1.1 with the original Macintosh. Xerox counter sued, saying that Apple infringed on its copyright, court ruling basicly said, "It was your fault for giving it to them in the first place.

Must I remind that I responded you without an insult, I expect you to do the same.

  • @nextstep333

Actually Xerox was never released their GUI to the general public. And I was replying to your comment about the applause to the people who innovate, Windows has some great inovations and many people enjoy using windows as they do mac os x, so please don't be a mindless apple fanboy because Mac os sucked up until steve got back and even then it wasn't great until os x. Also i apologize for calling you a dickhead but it annoys me when people don't have their facts straight.

  • @TowfiqTheBrown I am not an Apple Fan boy, The original MacOS, I agree with you it is a piece of crap compared to Mac OS X, don't make the assumption I am an Apple Fanboy, I enjoy UNIX, not Linux, I love the fact that UNIX does what I want. Windows is just an operating system plagued with errors.
