@honeyzway it depends on the design I'm working with, usually it's half free hand and half with an outline. What I do is if an image is available to me I'll take it and trace just the outside with a toothpick. Then everything inside, all the detail work is free hand. If a picture is not provided, I'll just draw completely free hand.
