I'm confused. How can it be a true dual if it's got an x-pipe? What's the advantage of running true dual after the x-pipe, apart from adding extra weight?
True dual, for me, is all about the sound. With the balance / x / y pipe you get that howl, like a stock 350Z. Without, you get the growl, like a Ferrari V6, or a Turbo F1.
To each their own, but it's got to be confusing for those that are lokoing for a particular sound.
@70short Yeah, sure it helps a little bit in terms of sharing the inertia of the exhaust pulses, but it's more effective (in that capacity) on V8s, with their uneven firing banks. Look to BMW's straight sixes to see that two 3-1 exhausts are perfectly fine on a six.
On an even firing V6 like this, it's really only making it quieter and giving a sound far removed from what I would consider a true dual to be - again, see Nissan VQ versus Ferrari, BMW etc.
nice to know that if i wanted i could get my v6 to go faster than a v8, more hp and lighter equals more fun, less insurance and a less complicated more responsive engine to go wrong
uh you are the idiot cause if it has cats on it then its not true duals all they do is take away horsepower cause it restricts air flow so shut the fuck up you dumb fuck.
Since when the hell does cats have to do with the way an exhaust is routed? It doesn't, they're there to cut down a emissions. Nearly all cats now are about as high flow as you can get with cats.
dk4life, ha we called those kids who wore all black, had long greasy hair who didn't shower and listened to shitty metal music like Iron Maiden and Slipknot dk's (dirty kids) they were the outcasts of the school, even the nerds had more respect
anywho this kid is a moron, not just ignorant since apparently he doesn't want an education; true duals: two separate pipes, one for each cylinder bank on a v-type engine, cats have nothing to do with this
@blunts4dayzzz too bad i busted my ass and payed for the car and ur a jelous peice of shit who smokes blunts all day instead of saving his money and working his ass off to buy a car.
"V8 guys" will own you with only an intake and a tune on their 281. And you put how much? im guessing about 6 grand to add all the things to it which means "V8 guys" spent less.
LMAO, first you're not considering the fact that gas mileage suffers on ANY supercharged vehicle which means that this is equal to a V8 as it is. Don't believe me-- ask around. 2nd I paid 23.5 for my GT and that was brand new, if you can find me a sixxer for 14.5 (lowest I found was 17.8) then I'll gladly take my words back.
not true my car gaind HP and Milage with a supercharger. i get 33 mpg highway compared to the 26 mpg high way it used to get. my intsown i better as well 25 compared to the 23.
Wow,I get that out of my 5.3 gxp,and maybe a little better highway, and my gxp is almost 300 heavier. But yes, anything 3500 or higher is considered heavy.
@olvanish Old post I know, but I got my v6 with pony package for $10k with only 28k miles on it. It all depends on how hard you wanna look. Even tho I saved A LOT of money I still wish I bought a V8. Nothing beats the sound of a true v8.
that xcharger dosent do a thing for me... give me a procharger or a vortech supercharger, and be sure to get over 300hp and 300tq at the wheels with supporting modss, i mean c'mon a vortech high output system puts out 330hp and 300tq at the crank stock at like 9.5psi... thats fuckin good
I've got a 1994 V6 and looking to go into dual exhaust for that deep roar... how much does it normally cost for someone to do this? Labor, Parts, ect....
my 98v6 beats 98 gt's and i got about 26mpg on the highway (before i got my gears) my advice to you would be to work with what you have because a new motor or car would just be a waste of money, i got my flowmasters for 300 and i put them on myself. it was pretty easy and came with intructions
I called them and unfortunately the person that was helping me never called me back. He didn't know about the True dual setup. Ended up getting the Ford Racing true dual exhaust for the V6.
Just do it the cheap way buy a used Off road Bassani Xpipe or after market X pipe and run what ever you want out the back just cut n weld so easy!!! Its what I did check out my car
Do you have any numbers for a stock N/A V6?

whats the horsepower gain on a naturally aspirated v6?
no cutting of the y pipe is involved right?

engines now built are built to go with the cat so taking it off now days might actualy take away power rather then give it power

well ya but cats restrict airflow so there a waste but you have to watch out in the newer vehicles cause the o2 sensor will know that its gone

actually my v6 cost 17.5* out the door and a 5-grand powerhouse turbo system has brought up the rwhp to 450 with race gas.
which brings the grand total to roughly 22.5
so its quite possible to save money, have more rwhp, AND still be lighter

ditch that thing. its a bad car to tune or to put anything. go for the 60s mustang or any mustang 2003 and above.
parts would cost around 300, labor would cost around 120.

you can easily get over 400 hp, if you know what to get and do, the right turbo or superchargers, tranny, exhaust, headers, cams, etc.
