  • Even though I am a faggot for learning about this through the Halo 3 Believe ad, it's such a beautiful piece.

  • I like it, but I think that in some parts it goes too fast and in others it goes too slow. In all I do love the emotion that you put into the song! :) I will try and video tape myself and see if you like it my way also! :) I do like your way of playing though!

  • very nice

  • Funny how some people here find it played too slow. I find it too fast!!

  • @darlenepossible what I do is just leave out the G# and play the rest of the chord. Try it and see if you like it. Otherwise, you could leave out the A# but it might be more noticeable.

  • This wouldve been perfect for "the Pianist". The songs they chose were spectacular, but this really has the mood that the film has

  • You're either talented or well practiced.

    Bravo.

  • The tempo is a bit slow..but otherwise quite good!

  • very touching, wish i'd have a piano.

  • you've played this song too slowly, and at some points you've let the dominant pedal note become too overpowering of the other notes, speed the song its too slow and soften that pedal note more

  • your hands are so similar to my dads XD

  • is it normal if im 14 and playing this?

  • @halokid211 You mean listening to it? No I don't think so. I'm 17 and I find it a simply beautiful piece. I honestly don't think music has ana ge limit. It's just music.

  • @halokid211 Yup. I'm 13 and learning to play this.

  • @halokid211 yer its normal, i wish i could play like that, i plat cello and i am no where as good as that!

  • @halokid211 don't get high and mighty, troller. i was 12 when i firt looked at this piece and tried to plsy it. i failed horribly, but at 14 i was pretty good at it

  • This is really good, I like the emotion you put into it :)

On my piano the Ab key sticks, which makes this piece very hard and annoying to play as that's the key I need most D: I really need to get it fixed.

  • @pegasus2503 that must be a bitch since every other note in the bass clef is A flat ROFL

  • @halokid211 It is! I want to do it for my A level performance piece next year, I really need to fix my piano!!

  • best one on youtube. great stuff :)

  • very beautiful but you can put a tutorial of this piece please?

  • Wow!! Loved it.

  • Every time I hear this by anyone it always sounds different.

One was smoothly flowing, but the notes were harsh and hurtful to the ears.

Another was just to darn fast to enjoy.

You, have it 98% down to perfection. It is just a little rough as everyone has noted, but all in all this is the best one on youtube that everyone has, again, noted.

  • This is pretty good. : ( But can you make it more smooth and flowing like rain? Yea, also I personally believe experation is the Key of Expertise.

But overall, nice job! Keep practicing! : )

  • This is very beautiful :)

  • this is the best version I have seen on youtube. perfect tempo and great quality. Amazing

  • There are few versions of Chopin's 'Raindrops' that I can find that I feel are very smooth and flow nicely. However, I really liked this version. (: Nice playing! ^^

  • beautiful. truly this is the only song on piano i have ever wanted to learn. chopin truly was a genus.

  • i think this is relly relly good

    5*

i hope wis was right right my englisch is very bad^^

  • Great performance, indeed this is a hard piece to play & Chopin was a virtuoso performer. i was wondering could u make a tutorial i am studing this score for my GCSE's

  • @MrJCpiano Making a tutorial with this song would take about 10 videos !! XD The song itself it about 6 minutes !!

  • What RCM Grade level is this? I want to play in Festival.

  • i'm only a grade 1 but i want to play this piece because i love this piece

  • It is not hard to play this, but it is hard to play the rubato tempo correctly :)

    Well done !

  • still the best video on youtube of this song ive found.great job!all the other ones are to fast or to loude, but this one is perfect!

  • Good tone from 2:23, fine dramatic effect.

  • very cool, you're very talented.

Do you go to sleep with your hands in ziploc bags full of moisturizer? My baby doesn't even have hands as soft as those. Rough them up!

  • Man...i started to play this and I can hardly read anything...You're Awesome.

  • thats weird mine said i had to play the right sharp note in the beginning

  • This piece is meant to be played slow, this was written while he was sick in a chapel/hospital during the rain. So it should be played like a rainstorm not a hurricane.

  • ahhh! Finally!

I have been searching for a recording of this that is slow enough for my taste! I started upon this search after hearing this in the 9th episode of the anime Blood+

  • Its so much better at this tempo

  • great job, i havent heard any mistake, and im playing piano now for 15 years. chopin is always difficult, im studiying this song 6 weeks ago until now, and i can play until minute 4 of this video. Excellent job though!

  • very nice throughout. Your tempo could be a little faster. but a pleasure to hear you today

  • tempo faster? you clearly must be listening to horowitz' version. It should be slower and with more soul, but right notes. good job

  • are there any other songs with the same type of feel/sound as this one?

  • what grade is this piece

    brilliant :)x

  • grade 7 i think?

  • ahhh i'm in grade 8 and i have trouble

  • why the f are u guys talking about Beethoven and Fur Elise in a comments list for Chopins "epic" Raindrop?

  • This is Not from Beethoven is from Chopin.

I think you do very well and the way you move your lefth hand seems to be very easy. Excelent

I would like to ear it a little fast and whit more force in the middle part.

  • Yeah, great playing! Well done with the repeated notes, keeping your fingers close to the keyboard.

I agree on 2:45 for loudness, too.

  • This makes me unable to think of anything... just be carried away by the music. You play beautifully!

    :)

  • This piece gets me every time, no matter how many times I've heard it. I love this piece more than anything and you played it brilliantly. ^_^ Awesome job.

  • @Isilcu Same i totally agree :)

  • @Isilcu Well of course. What do u expect, this piece has been around for centuries!

  • Like a lot of people I heard this on the Halo 3 commercial. It makes my hair stand on end. I couldn't find out what it was and assumed it was an original piece for the ad. When I heard it elsewhere I had to track it down and I'm glad I found it.

This version is beautiful and very powerful. I agree with those who say it should be played slower. The pauses become so powerful.

    Thank you for this clip.

  • lol I knew this song since i was 3

  • on 2:45 you must play louder, but further you play it very good,

  • It was played very well, this is exactly how i like this peice. good job.

  • why is it called raindrop prelude?

  • Simply because the G flat that get's repeated the whole time reminds people of falling raindrops.

  • Because that's what Mr. Chopin wanted to name his masterpiece!! Lol! Same question, why is such a thing called Fur Elise? Same concept.

  • chopin got sick, so he went on holydays to majorca where he was expecting sun and warm climate but turns out to be endless rain, so he wrote "raindrop"

bethoven called his masterpiece fur elise cuz he written it to a certain elise how he was in love with.

  • What?

  • i dont think beethoven mistook her name

  • i heard Beethoven wrote the song for her cause she was his student and he was in love with her.

  • I LOVE this piano peice! It's very emotional for me. My most favorite part of the song is in 2:00. It's very strong which I like. You did such an awsome job!!! Check out my piano videos especially the Prelude Opus 28 No 4 by Chopin but it's in progress... =]

  • It is nicely played but would be better at a quicker tempo.

See Horowitzes version ,which I think is just right

  • I do not agree with you. The song should be played a lot quicker according to the way the pro's play it. But personally, I like the song way more if you play it slowly. Especially the part that starts at 2:00. I think that adds a lot of drama. I personally play it with some brakes between te parts, and the ff part is in my oppinion best when you play it very loud and very, very slowly. But thats just my oppinion

  • All taste and interpretation.

  • ehhh... idk if its just the way the piano plays, but i thought it was too heavy, even the beginning...

    otherwise, nicely done =)

  • hmmm that might be because it is recorded from a home video camera microphone... seeing as you are most likely used to hearing professional recordings and not live piano

  • ive listened to it again, i think your piano is just very warm. it is different from what i normally hear... because of the sound, not the quality

  • Are there any more sombre classical pieces like this?

  • Chopin has plenty of similar work. Look around a little.

  • Wow, you know i have been searching for alot of comparisons to your form and tempo... no one come close! Brilliant! (no offense to anyone) lol

  • pimp.. check mine out

  • Perfection!

    Very well done...

  • this reminds me of Halo: I believe commercial.

  • thats cuz its in the halo commercial

  • chopin...wasn't classical

  • i am learning this piece right now. Its not too difficult

    nicely played though

  • An almost hypnotic piece, I'd love to be able to play, Thanks for sharing the technique!

  • I love this piece!!!! I danced to it recently!!! please check it out!! :D

  • Great Expression, I too like to play it slow!

Tell me what you think about mine!

  • I can barely get through this piece without dying from sheer fatigue!

Well done! And I enjoy your tempo on it.

  • uuu halo 3 hihihhihi beautyfull

  • beautiful!!!!

  • lol so im guessing everyone on youtube is a music expert now?

  • I love this piece but discovered it from the halo 3 trailer - i love both but this music suits halo's atmosphere perfectly; don't be so quick to shirk it.

  • yeah.

who'd ah thought that classical music would go so well with plasma rifles, biochemically, surgically altered super soldiers and non stop running and gunning?

  • hahahahahah, good one man.

wonder how they thought of that

  • i love it slow....

  • go halo 3

  • Lol, nice trolling? Seriously, this is music, not a game trailer.

  • simple..

    G.R.E.A.T!!!!!!!!

  • oh gosh i finally learned this. very well played =}

  • Trying to learn this. You're way ahead of me, but I would say that the "lack of feeling" someone referred to is because it is much too slow - especially the opening. All the professional recordings I have come in at under five minutes, whereas this is over six.

  • not necessarily that it's slow, but that he's following the timing too strictly, and not opening it up to interpretation the way romantic pieces should be.

  • But if he'd play it in the way you suggest people would start giving him critic about a not consistent tempo :P. But i agree with you.

  • Believe.

  • Comment removed

  • go halo 3!!!

  • fuck halo, go chopin!

  • Schmelieve.

  • is this a hard song to learn?

  • It's around grade 7 standard, rather difficult to learn in my opinion, particularly the last section.

  • well it's pretty for higher levels but if you're really talented then you can play it immediatly...I'm playing this for my piano graduation this year.

  • I think your tempo and rythm were very good, but on my opinion, the first and last part were too loud and harsh, and could it be that you played the second part with pedal?!?? that would be very bad... =/

but your technique is great =)

  • 1 of my favourite chopin pieces!! well played.

  • its nice played mate, and sorry for what i am going to say... most of people will hate me for this but i can`t feel any feeling from you playing this piece... it has to be intense... you have to live the music...

But thats only my opinion, maybe you can critisize mine when i put here.

    Thanks

  • i see what you mean there is no action on hes fingers. But dont forget that its a difficult piece of music that he play.

  • thee part beginning @ 2:00 almost makes me cry. so beautiful and sad

  • I actually like it when the part at the end of the chorus (the part that he does fast) is done slow... like my vid

  • I looking through some of the comments, and I don't understand how people think this is too slow!!! In fact I think i play it exactly the same tempo..i love this piece and you played great! i posted my video as a response

  • it think only it was slow at 2:58 and on

  • This is a lovely and haunting tune, and you played it beautifully. I love the way your tempo moved with the feel of the music; not many can do that without getting lost. Stellar job!

  • i like it this speed. i think that it should be played like this, slow and meaningful. not rushed

  • Hear Hear!

That's how I've learned it.. thats how my piano teacher plays it.

  • These are real piano hands, maybe just instructors! But he has pianistic pinkies.

  • Raindrop is the Halo 3 Believe's song watch it

  • you just noticed

  • well a bit too slow but i still liked it

  • dude i love this song and you played it like an expert you amasing. 8))

  • I like your little embelishments. I also like the fact that you play with feeling and you don't reallly loose your tempo. Good work.

  • you play really well

  • Hi =) Its was Great =) Love the interpretation you do, its very good :) 5*

    Thomas

  • Nice job dude!

I know how to play this song also....

It is a Grade 9 piano piece.

  • However, all other is good :)

  • it is too slow at all. And you make it slower on the most dramatic places. I don't like this. However, all other

  • In the first part, your left hand is to laught!

  • Chopin would be proud dude...

  • only thing i would say is the left head at the begining " d flat, a flat, d flat f" are eight notes and shouldnt be played delayed like the right hand.

  • neat :>

  • what grade is this?

  • Great Job!

  • wow that was great i dont play piano i play guitar but i can tell you from listening to a lot of chopin and other vids on youtube that was awesome !!!!!!!

  • fair play 2 ya man, its genius... ;)

  • OMG, Genius!!!!

  • did I tell you this is awesome playing

  • i bet almost everyone here is here because of the fact taht this song has been used in H3 commericals. and taht we were all waiting for the transition at about 3:00

  • lol, i just got amazed when i heard that part in tv, i turned my head and it was a halo 3 spot.

this is actually my favorite chopin song =>

  • agreed, but some people truly know the song.

  • thats right.

and t'was a very good song choice to put in H3 commercial.

  • dam i have a piano likr a 1960'S piano i put on trumpet and stuff or english horn iv been practicing for some time i iv been doing gd but dam ur gd dude :)

  • Stunning. Absolutely stunning. Keep up the great playing!

  • whooaa awesome pedal-ness?

lol i cant even hear the pedal! good job :D

  • Very nicely performed.

  • wow. youve done it the best from anyone i know.

  • Enjoyed the transition at about 3:00.

Never heard it played that way before.

  • nice performance

  • Nice and slow. Beautiful.

  • very nice playing

  • I agree with everyone on the tempo, but you need to work on the dynamics. It sounded like it was at the same volume. You can use some more Rubato which will add to it. Another great piano player, Martha Argerich, played this perfectly with the dynamics. However, a little too fast. Also, the Ab needs to be more quiet. That note is suppose to just be the background of the piece and not the main part. Otherwise you did a great job. Just more dynamic, less of the repeated note, Ab in the beginning.

  • yes, i have the sheet music. when it changes from Ab cords to B chords. it is supposed to FFF.

  • Strange mine says ff but yes I usually play it fff

  • Either way, i like it loud!!!

  • When it changes to B chords it sounds like a ship heading into a storm, with viewing angle moving around the front of it.

    Hm. :)

  • Hmmm, I see, I see. Yea, i get it

  • Wow... Very nice

  • absolutely beautiful. ive heard other versions and they were all way too fasst. you hit it right on. absolutely beautiful

  • really well played, love it.

  • I agree with the comment on tempo, I always feel this song can be rushed so it's nice to see someone who plays it so beautifully, I love this. Hehe i'm nearly at the B section :D

  • Could do with being a bit quieter at first and using more dynamics to create a bit more emotion, are you using the left peddle?

  • i love your tempo. it's pretty much perfect throughout the song. there are occasional spots where i feel you rush a little or are too slow, but that's just me

  • my fav classic song

    5 stars

  • beautiful expression

  • finally someone playing this at the right tempo!

this is my all time favorite piece...

  • C'est peut-être pas parfait mais c'est bon. Tu aimes ce que tu jous. Chopin rules!

  • Well done..!

  • this is my all time favourite song. you did an absolutely incredible job playing it. kudos

  • It's lovely to hear somebody not rush through this. Thank you!

  • ya and eternal sonata on xbox360 is a good game and also have that song and few of other his songs mostly game songs they made

  • Very nice tempo, really brings out the feeling.
